[06:39:19] <sbx> What I meant about terrain. You could make a generator that replaces the tiles with some 3D approximation. Flower tiles replaced by actual flower models. Sidewalk border tiles just raised slightly for a cobbled(?) effect, but using original graphics. And a water tile replaced with a waving 3D block of water.
[06:39:42] <sbx> But just redoing certain chunks by hand would probably have better results.

[06:40:05] <servus> The only feasible replacement is where water and banks are concerned. Everything else risks ugly items-falling-into-the-ground effects.
