[01:57:41] <-- Marzo has left IRC (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
[07:44:12] --> Kirben has joined #exult
[07:44:12] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Kirben
[11:05:49] <Dominus> how to explain stackable soundfonts for fluidsynth... :)
[11:33:15] <Dominus> I'm disabling the 1.4.9 rc1 downloads for now (only the links on the download page) - since the objects disappearing bug is severe enough to warrant that and snapshots seem stable enough.
[11:34:19] <wjp> does that bug seem to be gone entirely now?
[11:35:24] <Dominus> seems so, no more reports about it
[11:35:49] <Dominus> so far I haven't encountered it as well but I haven't been able to play long enough in one go to be sure about it
[11:36:36] <Dominus> but with all the other potential crashes that you and Marzo eliminated, I think it's safer to point at the snapshots
[11:39:02] <Dominus> we still get about 20-40 downloads of the Windows version per day...
[12:24:41] --> Marzo has joined #exult
[13:10:42] <-- Kirben has left IRC ()
[13:26:33] --> TheCycoONE has joined #exult
[14:00:15] <-- TheCycoONE has left IRC (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
[14:20:35] --> TheCycoONE has joined #exult
[14:39:47] <Dominus> I'm rather fond of how nuvie dithers/dimms the background in conversation mode (when played in fullmap mode)
[14:42:49] <Dominus> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7737184/nuvietalk.png
[14:43:35] <Dominus> I'm wondering whether we could extend our textbackground to cover the fullscreen
[14:45:20] <Dominus> marzo, do you have that 8mb MT32 soundfont from http://www3.telus.net/anapan8/oldscardemu.htm#cplgmsf2 that you recommended for the fluidsynth stack
[14:45:59] <Marzo> I think I still do; let me check
[14:46:16] <Dominus> the link from that site times out all the time for me
[14:46:41] <Marzo> It is "MT32 8MB 0.2a.sf2" right?
[14:46:48] <Dominus> yes
[14:46:54] <Marzo> Then I still have it
[14:47:51] <Marzo> Does your IRC client accept file transfers?
[14:47:57] <Dominus> sadly no
[14:49:41] <Marzo> Dominus: http://www.mediafire.com/file/m3o9j3ldzjub7pi/MT32_8MB_0.2a.sf2.7z
[14:50:22] <Dominus> thanks a lot
[14:50:36] <Dominus> now I need to get rid of my family to really test it :)
[14:50:56] <Marzo> FYI, I am using 2 sound fonts in my Fluidsynth configuration: Fluidsynth's GM pack and a font called Scc1t2.sf2
[14:51:08] <Marzo> But I am actually using MT32Emu
[14:51:39] <Marzo> (err -- I actually prefer MT32Emu over that, but I am using the oggs)
[14:51:47] <Dominus> he he
[14:53:38] <Dominus> I mostly use the oggs as well
[14:58:48] <wjp> funny how that Death Scythe page on ultima.wikia uses our custom paperdoll graphic for it :-)
[14:59:17] <Dominus> yes, and when you click on the other things, fellowship staff for example, as well :)
[15:00:55] <Dominus> I was amused by that as well, when I went to that page
[15:04:21] --> Shozan has joined #exult
[15:05:23] <Dominus> wjp, would it make sense to make Exult ready for being compiled outside of its source?
[15:07:06] <-- SHODAN has left IRC (Ping timeout: 276 seconds)
[15:10:00] <wjp> sure
[15:11:17] <Dominus> when I add this to autogen.sh it works somewhat but fails elsewhere (need to verify again what all failed - I think the data files were made in the src dir)
[15:11:18] <Dominus> srcdir=`dirname $0`
[15:11:18] <Dominus> test -z "$srcdir" && srcdir=.
[15:11:18] <Dominus> cd "$srcdir"
[15:12:06] <Dominus> just doesn't fit quite well with the error handling of our autogen :)
[15:18:00] --> Malignant_Manor has joined #exult
[15:47:32] <wjp> why does autogen need changes?
[15:48:47] <wjp> (you should always run autogen from the source dir)
[16:43:02] <Dominus> if you run autogen, sh from outside of the sorc dir, you can run configure directly outside of the src dir and the src dir keeps even cleaner
[16:45:13] <wjp> but you do a 'cd "$srcdir"'?
[16:45:31] <wjp> I've never heard of generating a configure script outside of the source dir
[16:45:55] <wjp> and that really doesn't make sense I think, since a configure script is typically packaged together with a source release
[16:47:32] <Dominus> yes, you'relikely right. It's been already some days since I tried and forgot everything
[16:48:19] <Dominus> I think the reason for the change is that you don't ever need to be inside the src dir but can run the autogen and configure script "remotely"
[16:49:03] <Dominus> so no need to "cd src && ./autogen.sh && cd builddir && src/configure && make
[16:49:03] <wjp> I still think you should just run autogen from inside the source dir
[16:49:33] <wjp> you can do (cd src && ./autogen.sh) && src/configure to avoid the duplicate cd
[16:49:59] <wjp> autogen should possibly be the step immediately after an svn update
[16:50:29] <wjp> (since it's what transforms an svn checkout into a source dist)
[16:50:41] <Dominus> I just supposedly changing autogen.sh this way is how it works for other projects
[16:50:55] <Dominus> yeah that sentence made sense :)
[16:51:05] <Dominus> remove the I just :)
