[09:04:38] <`daniel> hello :)
[09:05:01] <`daniel> im running linux here, just wondering how i can use exult studio as I'm not really sure where to get it?
[09:06:07] <DarkeZzz> If you compile from source, all you need to do is set the appropriate ./configure flag.
[09:06:45] <`daniel> ahh k
[09:06:47] <`daniel> easy then...
[09:15:39] <-- Fingolfin has left IRC (Read error: 54 (Connection reset by peer))

[09:56:28] --> `daniel has joined #exult
[09:57:15] --> Eclair has joined #exult
[10:20:46] <`daniel> Does anybody know where exult looks for libglade when you build exult studio through CVS
[10:21:08] <`daniel> I have libglade installed, however exult doesn't want to find it
[10:21:41] <DarkeZzz> Have you re-bootstrapped/configured with appropriate flags after installing libglade?
[10:22:15] <`daniel> Umm
[10:22:23] <`daniel> sorry but im not sure what you mean
[10:26:31] <DarkeZzz> Done the `./autogen.sh`, then `./configure --whatever` thing again so that configure can search for your libglade install.
[10:26:41] <`daniel> yep
[10:26:45] <`daniel> started over
[10:26:53] <`daniel> removed source, then unzipped it again
[10:27:23] <DarkeZzz> Have you installed the libglade-develop (I think that's what it's called, the development headers+stuff, not just the runtime libraries) stuff too?
[10:27:24] <`daniel> what directories does exult search for libglade?
[10:27:37] <`daniel> nah I havent
[10:27:46] <`daniel> just ordinary libglade
[10:28:08] <DarkeZzz> Did you install that from source, or by package? You'll probably want to install the development stuff so you can compile things. *grin*
[10:29:09] <`daniel> I installed it from source
[10:29:48] <`daniel> libglade required some xml thing, and gnome-libs
[10:29:57] <`daniel> I installed both of those before i compiled
[10:31:30] <DarkeZzz> Umm... weird. I haven't compiled exult with studio support in ages, IIRC, it Just Worked.
[10:32:27] * DarkeZzz grabs latest cvs to see if anything special is now required.
[10:33:49] <`daniel> okay thanks
[10:35:13] <DarkeZzz> You're compiling with a source snapshot right? The latest and not v1.0?
[10:44:54] <DarkeZzz> You're getting output from the configure script that says this:
[10:44:54] <DarkeZzz> checking for GTK+/GLADE development files... yes...
[10:45:19] <DarkeZzz> Do you have at least version 2.0 of libglade?
[10:46:15] <DarkeZzz> ./configure worked fine for me, making now...
[10:51:43] <`daniel> k im back...
[10:51:44] <`daniel> let me check
[10:52:16] <`daniel> libglade 0.17
[10:52:17] <`daniel> ahh
[10:52:31] <`daniel> so you want me to use libglade 2.0? the one for gtk2
[10:53:57] <`daniel> okay
[10:53:59] <`daniel> very strange
[10:54:06] <`daniel> just tried it again
[10:54:09] <`daniel> seems to be working
[10:54:12] <`daniel> how odd
[10:54:23] <`daniel> I might have had the wrong source directory open
[10:54:34] <`daniel> I think i had a few there for testing
[10:55:46] <DarkeZzz> Weird. Ah well. I just thought the configure.ac was saying something about needing libglade2.0.
[11:04:22] <`daniel> oh
[11:04:39] <`daniel> it seems i forgot to pass the --enable-exult-studio stuff
[11:04:56] <`daniel> yep, same problem. time to try libglade2
[11:21:55] <`daniel> Darke, you were right
[11:22:11] <`daniel> libglade 2 and above seems to work
[11:22:38] <`daniel> however it might be handy to note the version in the INSTALL file in future releases
[11:22:52] <`daniel> some ppl might mistake it for the old libglade that's required for gtk1
[11:23:36] <`daniel> stupid people like me
[11:23:48] <DarkeZzz> Yup. Either that or have configure spit out a mention that it needs >=libglade2.0.
[11:23:53] <`daniel> yeh
[11:23:59] <`daniel> maybe that would be better
[11:24:23] <DarkeZzz> I think it was only updated to the latest libglade 'recently', so that change probably slipped through the cracks.
[11:24:45] <`daniel> yeh, it's understandable
[11:24:56] <`daniel> with all the work to port exult studio over to gtk2
[11:25:59] * DarkeZzz nods.
[11:26:07] <`daniel> Does gtk2 have any obvious advantages over gtk1? besides looking pretier
[11:26:23] <`daniel> I mean things for me run a little bit sluggish in gtk2
[11:26:32] <DarkeZzz> Umm... I dunno. It's a newer version, it *has* to be better! *grin* Or something.
[11:27:23] <`daniel> hehe
[11:27:45] <`daniel> i've stopped becoming so hopeful about the "latest and greatest" versions
[11:28:05] <`daniel> unless its they have just released kernel 2.6
[11:30:47] <`daniel> yah, it works
[11:31:28] * DarkeZzz is content with his current kernel, though he *has* got bleeding-edge flex doing his bidding. Though for something that hasn't had an official release in 6 or so years, that's not too difficult. *grin*
[11:34:19] <`daniel> with exult studio, do I just open up any file in the statics folder and wala?
[11:36:54] <DarkeZzz> Can't remember. I haven't played with it in ages. *grin*
[11:37:30] <`daniel> smiley face?
[11:37:31] <`daniel> :/
[11:37:39] <`daniel> in faces.vga under serpent isle
[11:37:42] <`daniel> hehe
[11:37:43] <`daniel> weird
