[11:43:09] <Dominus> Vimus: so how did it go? ;)
[11:47:51] <vimus> I did not get time to compile the code yesterday so will try later today again. Was along time since i last used SVN :)
[11:48:43] <vimus> Will try to build it with visual studio. Not sure if it will work, latest version in the readme for visual studio was visual studio 6 :)
[12:09:13] <-- Kirben has left IRC ()
[13:08:32] <Dominus> vimus: let us know how it goes :)
[13:20:28] <vimus> Will do :). Huge fan of Ultima 7/Exult and it would be nice to be able to help a little on Exult.

[18:25:25] --> Vimus has joined #exult
[19:09:06] <Vimus> What project are used for visual studio. Tried to use /msvc9 but does not seems to work to well.
[20:05:10] <-- ShamblerDK has left IRC (Remote host closed the connection)
[20:37:21] <-- Marzo has left IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)
[21:10:20] <Dominus> Vimus: can't help, I'm no longer on Windows and even when I was I used mingw/msys
[21:10:58] <Dominus> I think Colourless was the last one to use the msvc files and maybe it just needs updating or a newer version to correctly work
[21:25:13] --> Marzo has joined #exult
[21:57:26] --> Kirben has joined #exult
[21:57:26] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Kirben
[22:01:41] <Vimus> Ahh... never use mingw before.
[22:04:30] <Dominus> it served my needs to be able to build popen source projects much similar to those people on linux
[22:04:48] <Dominus> and distaste of huge MS software...
[22:04:55] <Vimus> :D
[22:05:23] <Dominus> now I'm on OS X and need huge apple software to do the same...
[22:05:24] <Dominus> :)
[22:05:53] <Vimus> Will try out MinGW tomorrow then and see if it works, might try to create a cmake next to create a visual studio project. Thats the thing im most used to :)
[22:06:04] <Dominus> he he
[22:06:27] <Dominus> the readme.mingw has instructions on how to build with mingw
[22:07:18] <Dominus> Kirben just recently fixed something in the readme.mingw so I expect following thses instructions should work
[22:07:40] <Dominus> but it's also not exactly userfriendly as far as I remember
[22:07:42] <Vimus> Hmm i see no such file :(
[22:08:08] <Dominus> yeah
[22:08:14] <Dominus> sorry, readme.win32
[22:08:18] <Vimus> :D
[22:09:30] <Vimus> Ohhh thats some list of stuff. Might be that i look at the cmake thing directly instead :).
[22:09:44] <Dominus> unless you want to build all libs yourself, it is vital to use exactly those downloads and not newer mingw-gcc stuff
[22:10:19] <Dominus> since the libs Kirben provides as downloads are done with the gcc listed, mixing those libs with newer gcc will lead to hell
[22:10:54] <Vimus> Ohh DLL hell, i been there and back :|
[22:11:06] <Dominus> ah, it's noted in there
[22:11:26] <Dominus> yeah, different kind of dll hell, but very similar :)
[22:12:24] <Vimus> Ohh looks like there two msvc directorys. Msvc9 and msvcstuff. I only tried one of them. See what happens if i run the stuff one.
[22:14:16] <Vimus> I did see the post on the wepage about the state about exult and was thinking i might be able to help a little. Could at least try to fix a bug or two :)
[22:15:12] <Dominus> I wouldn't mind that at all :)
[22:15:31] <Dominus> the biggest stumbling point at first is always to get the damn thing to compile :)
[22:16:27] <Vimus> Yep :)
[22:25:56] <Vimus> Compiles at least. Need ogg and vorbis to it looks like
[22:28:33] <Dominus> yes, those are required
[22:28:56] <Vimus> Well i will build them tomorrow. Progress at least :).
[22:30:02] <Vimus> Server.cc? Network support in exult?
[22:31:06] <Dominus> no, it's for the connection between Exult and Exult Studio
[22:31:49] <Dominus> http://exult.sourceforge.net/studio.php#client_server_stuff
[22:33:53] <Vimus> Ahh cool.
[22:39:39] <Vimus> Omgz, the oldest bug is from 2002 :D. This project has been running for a while :)
[22:54:36] <Dominus> Vimus: 16 years old this beauty :)
[22:56:11] <Dominus> we've been on SF since 2000 or so. The first logged bug is from March 2000 :) http://sourceforge.net/p/exult/bugs/search/?q=status%3Aclosed-wont-fix+or+status%3Aclosed-later+or+status%3Aclosed-accepted+or+status%3Aclosed-duplicate+or+status%3Aclosed-out-of-date+or+status%3Aclosed-postponed+or+status%3Aclosed-rejected+or+status%3Aclosed-works-for-me+or+status%3Aclosed+or+status%3Aclosed-invalid+or+status%3Aclosed-fixed&page=7
[22:57:37] <Vimus> Will be fun to learn how the game work.
[22:59:51] <Dominus> I'm off to bed now... wasted too much time on other things instead of playing through SI... again... (need to play through to test whether it works :))
[23:00:05] <Dominus> good night and good luck with the source :)
[23:00:13] <Vimus> Yee, thanks :)
