[00:14:45] --> Kirben has joined #exult
[00:14:46] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Kirben
[01:39:37] --> Darke has joined #exult
[01:39:37] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Darke
[01:39:45] * Darke bows, "Hello."
[01:42:12] <sb-x> Heyo
[02:09:06] <-- sb-x has left IRC ("Testing Q2 3.21 debug build")
[02:20:16] --> sb-x has joined #exult
[02:20:21] <sb-x> screw that
[02:21:11] * sb-x was going to go work on a test build of quake2, but checked his email and saw Jeff's message. He has now decided to make a new game with Exult.
[02:21:24] --- sb-x is now known as sbx|exulting
[02:21:26] <Darke> Ahh. <grin>
[02:49:02] <sbx|exulting> Hmm
[02:57:44] <sbx|exulting> looks like i didnt make the gimp plugin
[02:57:47] <sbx|exulting> :|
[02:59:47] <sbx|exulting> bm what are you two talkin about?
[03:00:45] <sbx|exulting> oops wrong chan
[03:00:46] <sbx|exulting> hehe
[03:03:55] * Darke is occasionally tempted to 'fake mav' something interesting. <grin>
[03:04:13] <sbx|exulting> fake mav?
[03:05:46] <Darke> Umm... 'mavving' is accidently misdirecting a sentence or a pose to an the wrong audience, 'fake mavving' is doing the same thing, but either on purpose, or with a pose you've faked up. <grin>
[03:06:05] <Darke> Don't mind me, my mind is wandering, less then 3 hours of sleep lastnight. <grin>
[03:06:23] <sbx|exulting> Yeah I have no idea what you are doing here this early...
[03:06:38] <sbx|exulting> heh
[03:06:47] <sbx|exulting> What would be the purpose in fake mavving?
[03:07:47] <Darke> Usually just to get a 'boggle' out of someone, or someones. <grin>
[03:08:11] <sbx|exulting> You can get one out of me without resorting to that.
[03:08:18] * sbx|exulting boggleboggles.
[03:09:06] <sbx|exulting> While I have your eyes, can you how I can get the GIMP plugin to compile without going through configure again?
[03:09:27] <sbx|exulting> s/can you how/can you tell me how/
[03:10:50] <Darke> No idea. <grin> The 'easiest' way would be just to configure again, then run make in only the applicable directories that you need for gimp.
[03:11:28] <sbx|exulting> Where does gimp plugin live?
[03:13:11] <Darke> Umm.... `find . -iname '*gimp*'`?
[03:13:31] <sbx|exulting> no results
[03:14:51] <sbx|exulting> none for find | grep -i gimp either
[03:15:22] <Darke> That should do the same thing. <grin>
[03:17:03] <sbx|exulting> mapedit/u7shp.c?
[03:17:44] <Darke> Yeah, it looks like it's in mapedit.
[03:19:09] * sbx|exulting reconfigures.
[03:19:59] <Darke> If you look at the Makefile.am under u7shp$(EXEEXT) it looks actually easy to make it. <grin>
[03:24:50] <sbx|exulting> i never got that far
[03:25:01] <sbx|exulting> i just uncommented the gimp_plugin def
[03:25:05] <sbx|exulting> and typed make u7shp
[03:25:06] <sbx|exulting> :)
[03:35:50] <-- sbx|exulting has left IRC (Remote closed the connection)
[03:37:35] --> sb-x has joined #exult
[03:37:42] --- sb-x is now known as sbx|exulting
[03:37:52] <sbx|exulting> Who would have thought you could accidentally hit CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE?
[03:37:57] * sbx|exulting shrugs.
[03:38:28] <Darke> Hello again. <grin> Iv'e never accidentally done it, but I expect I'll do it accidentally within the next week because of you.
[03:38:47] * sbx|exulting agrees.
[03:39:06] <sbx|exulting> >:-)
[03:42:37] <sbx|exulting> ispell
[03:42:40] <sbx|exulting> uh
[03:42:45] <sbx|exulting> wrong window
[03:43:54] * Darke snickers.
[03:44:37] <sbx|exulting> im using BitchX in a aterm so of course it looks just like my shell, unless of course i actually look at it :P
[03:44:51] <sbx|exulting> but i am too busy to actually look at the windows
[03:44:59] <sbx|exulting> before i start typing in them
[03:45:00] <sbx|exulting> :-)
[03:45:55] * Darke has had the same problem on the odd occasion. Luckily he has a good `don't hit enter until you _read_ it` reflex that's saved him a number of times. <grin>
[03:52:43] <sbx|exulting> If I am privately messaging someone and don't want a channel to see, I can kick into that mode of thinking. Unfortunately, I've had to gain that reflex the hard way.
[03:53:09] <sbx|exulting> As in, I've substituted / with . way too many times. :-)
[03:54:15] * Darke grins. Start doing administration of production servers and you'll have the reflex to check before you 'commit' something very quickly.
[03:58:30] * sbx|exulting has a hard enough time administering his home computer thank you.
[04:26:25] <sbx|exulting> hmm
[04:26:30] <sbx|exulting> 2561 items in text.flx
[04:26:33] <sbx|exulting> :O
[04:27:01] * Darke thinks that looks a little... wrong.
[04:35:40] <sbx|exulting> hmm
[04:35:50] <sbx|exulting> my comments are being discared
[04:37:19] <sbx|exulting> in .exult.cfg
[04:37:25] <sbx|exulting> i put something within <!-- -->
[04:37:32] <sbx|exulting> and now i just looked at the file and all it has is
[04:37:34] <sbx|exulting> <!--
[04:37:37] <sbx|exulting>
[04:37:38] <sbx|exulting> -->
[04:37:47] <sbx|exulting> :\
[04:38:12] <sbx|exulting> in fact... even stranger...
[04:38:24] <sbx|exulting> It didn't eat whatever was within the comments... it moved it.
[04:38:41] <sbx|exulting> Now the line that I had commented is uncommented and below the comments.
[04:38:45] <sbx|exulting> It looks like this:
[04:38:47] <sbx|exulting> <!--
[04:38:49] <sbx|exulting>
[04:38:52] <sbx|exulting> -->
[04:39:00] <sbx|exulting> <patch>
[04:39:00] <sbx|exulting> /home/sbx/ultima7/bg/sfisland
[04:39:01] <sbx|exulting> </patch>
[04:39:16] * sbx|exulting boggles.
[04:40:08] * Darke boggles and thinks there may be... something wrong.
[04:41:25] <sbx|exulting> Ah well, I don't know why I would expect the comments to work anyway. This isn't XML after all. :)
[04:42:20] <Darke> The 'problem' is that the comments work in the u7opcodes.data file. <grin> I know, because I tested it with that.
[04:43:55] <sbx|exulting> They "work" in what way?
[04:44:59] <Darke> They load up, and output in an almost identical fashion.
[04:46:55] <sbx|exulting> I have another, more important error now.
[04:47:07] <sbx|exulting> What would cause exult to say Error opening file intro.dat?
[04:47:12] <sbx|exulting> static/intro.dat
[04:47:28] <Darke> Presumably it either doesn't exist, or it's been 'corrupted'.
[04:47:56] <sbx|exulting> Should there be a static/intro.dat?
[04:48:10] <sbx|exulting> There isn't in my bg folder
[04:48:17] <sbx|exulting> folder?
[04:48:19] <sbx|exulting> hmm
[04:48:21] <sbx|exulting> directory
[04:48:31] <sbx|exulting> :P
[04:49:24] <Darke> SI has a static/intro.dat, BG doesn't.
[04:50:02] <sbx|exulting> Thanks
[04:50:16] <sbx|exulting> Although I don't see where the <editing> tag does anythin
[04:50:19] <sbx|exulting> anything
[04:53:45] <sbx|exulting> .
[04:57:32] <sbx|exulting> Author: Talthanar (66.62.152.---)
[04:57:32] <sbx|exulting> Date:   02-16-02 17:37
[04:57:34] <sbx|exulting> Gr..hate to double post like this but the ~/.exult.cfg file only works for root access. How would I set it for user?
[04:57:41] <sbx|exulting> ... Zuh?
[04:58:04] --- sbx|exulting is now known as sbx
[04:58:07] <Darke> Huh?
[04:58:45] <sbx> Buh?
[05:00:28] <sbx> I sleep now. You figure.
[05:00:30] <-- sbx has left IRC ("Read error: 666 (Connection reset by Satan)")
[05:00:31] <Darke> `id -un` and `id -gn` certainly tell me I'm _not_ root. <grin> I'd certainly like to know more about his problem.
[07:50:32] <kefka> ok.. i found a bug
[07:50:58] <kefka> with exult.sf.net/forum/list.php
[07:51:23] <kefka> the collection of links at the top is smaller than what it is on the other pages
[07:52:07] <kefka> hence download.php links at the top are larger then /forum/list.php
[07:52:21] <kefka> unless it is a Mozilla 0.9.7 specific problem
[07:53:34] <Darke> IIRC that's a CSS issue.
[07:54:25] <kefka> Mozilla being at fault?
[07:54:51] <Darke> No, it happens with Konqueror as well. It's just the forum uses a different CSS stylesheet to the rest of the pages.
[07:55:02] <Darke> Or at least I think so anyway. <grin>
[07:55:31] <kefka> so is it a bug or not?
[07:56:42] <Darke> It's a known 'bug' as far as I know. But given that it's not fixed, and it only has minor cosmetic problems, I guess it's not a priority.
[07:56:56] <kefka> ah
[07:57:02] <kefka> ok.. cool
[07:59:21] <Darke> And given that all our webpages are created from a template, I'm not sure that it's actually 'fixable'. I wouldn't know though, since I don't do anything in relation to that.
[09:27:55] --> Wumpus has joined #exult
[09:32:12] <Darke> Hello.
[09:33:07] <Wumpus> oh
[09:33:09] <Wumpus> hello :-)
[09:33:17] * Wumpus has finally got a nice irc client back ;-p
[09:33:31] <Wumpus> (ie, i found where the packages for the fixed version were hiding :P)
[09:38:51] * Darke grins.

[12:48:11] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to wjp
[12:48:14] <wjp> hi
[12:52:08] <Darke> Hi.
[12:52:43] * wjp just spent an hour in windows fixing the photoshop plugin... ugh
[12:54:12] <Darke> Ick. What was broken with it?
[12:54:34] <wjp> it didn't handle comment strings in resource blocks. photoshop 5.5 (which I use) doesn't use these string. 6.0 does :/
[12:55:37] * Darke icks. Makes sense.
[12:55:51] <wjp> s/didn't handle/didn't correctly handle/
[13:09:17] --> Colourless has joined #Exult
[13:09:17] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Colourless
[13:09:26] <Colourless> hi
[13:09:27] <wjp> hi
[13:09:47] <wjp> I fixed a bug in the photoshop plugin earlier today
[13:09:55] <Colourless> and it was?
[13:10:04] <wjp> comment string handling in resource blocks
[13:10:45] <wjp> in the WriteShape() function:
[13:11:01] <wjp> unsigned char strlength;
[13:11:01] <wjp> unsigned char dummy2;
[13:11:01] <wjp> while (totsize < gParams->imageRsrcSize) {
[13:11:01] <wjp> rsrc = res_in4(rsrc, dummy); // '8BIM'
[13:11:01] <wjp> rsrc = res_in2(rsrc, restype); // resource type
[13:11:02] <wjp> totsize += 6;
[13:11:04] <wjp> rsrc = res_in1(rsrc, strlength); // string length
[13:11:06] <wjp> totsize += 1;
[13:11:08] <wjp> if (strlength % 2 == 0) strlength++;// pad to even length
[13:11:10] <wjp> for (i = 0; i < strlength; i++) {
[13:11:12] <wjp> rsrc = res_in1(rsrc, dummy2); // skip name string
[13:11:14] <wjp> totsize += 1;
[13:11:16] <wjp> }
[13:11:18] <wjp> rsrc = res_in4(rsrc, ressize); // resource size
[13:11:20] <wjp> totsize += 4;
[13:11:22] <wjp> that's the new code. I think you can figure out where it's supposed to go :-)
[13:17:23] --> Fingolfin has joined #exult
[13:17:34] <wjp> hi
[13:17:41] <Colourless> hi
[13:17:50] <Fingolfin> hi
[13:17:55] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Fingolfin
[13:22:49] <Fingolfin> hrm. is it just me or is google dead slow recently?
[13:23:09] <wjp> it's just you :-)
[13:23:16] <Fingolfin> "dead slow" -> it takes multiple seconds to just access the front page, let alone search something
[13:23:27] * Fingolfin runs a traceroute
[13:23:57] <wjp> I just tried. Frontpage and search are both instantly
[13:24:10] <wjp> s/ly//
[13:24:19] <Fingolfin> yeah. i see the problem in my traceroute, this is weird...
[13:24:25] <wjp> or instantaneous?
[13:24:27] <Fingolfin> 9 ( 191.266 ms 122.917 ms 147.154 ms
[13:24:27] <Fingolfin> 10 ( 5529.05 ms 5529.78 ms 5544.11 ms
[13:24:32] <wjp> ouch
[13:24:40] <_Kreed_> 5 secs :o
[13:24:52] <Fingolfin> hmm... wonder who or what that address is....
[13:25:18] <wjp> I get a SERVFAIL on reverse lookup
[13:25:27] <_Kreed_> same here
[13:26:05] <Fingolfin> suspicious...
[13:26:11] <Fingolfin> it has been like this for at least 1-2 days
[13:52:58] --> Dominus has joined #exult
[13:52:58] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Dominus
[13:53:15] <wjp> hi
[13:53:20] <Darke> Hi Dominus.
[13:53:21] <Dominus> hi
[13:53:36] <Colourless> hi
[13:54:51] <Fingolfin> hi Dominus
[13:59:00] <Dominus> can someone help me with my tools compile problem? :-)
[13:59:03] <Dominus> make: *** No rule to make target `head2data.o', needed by `head2data.exe'. Stop
[13:59:32] <Dominus> (whatever head2data is supposed to be :-))
[14:00:07] <Darke> It's part of ucxt. It turns the intrinsic headers into data files, so that ucxt isn't depended upon the exult source tree.
[14:00:30] * Darke is poking around at the moment.
[14:02:27] <Darke> Which makefile are you using? .cygwin? .win32?
[14:02:35] <Dominus> win32
[14:03:18] <wjp> maybe add the dir in which head2data.cc is to the VPATH list?
[14:03:38] <wjp> oh, it already is there
[14:03:47] * wjp seems to be blind
[14:04:18] <wjp> oops, no, it isn't
[14:04:34] * Darke was just about to say that. <grin>
[14:04:49] <wjp> it's in usecode/ucxt. I thought it was in ucxt/src
[14:05:02] * Darke thought so too.
[14:06:43] * Darke thinks he needs to sort out that directory heirachy when gets some time/energy to work solidly on ucxt again.
[14:07:07] <Dominus> he he
[14:07:58] <Dominus> ok, that worked
[14:08:35] * Darke thinks cattleprods are a useful tool to stop people from laughing. <innocentgrin>
[14:09:09] <Dominus> but I better don't add it to the makefile myself or Kirben gets mad at me for putting dos linebreaks in there again...
[14:09:14] <Kirben> fix commited
[14:09:22] <Dominus> he he
[14:09:29] <wjp> *grin*
[14:10:04] <Colourless> how do you manage to put dos line breaks in it?
[14:10:25] <Dominus> i don't know but I did some other time...
[14:10:50] <Colourless> perhaps you dcc'd the file to kirben or something
[14:11:30] <Colourless> cvs for windows converts the dos line breaks into unix
[14:11:41] <Dominus> I thought so...
[14:12:09] <Colourless> problem occur when a person using linux (or cygwin as is the case with kirben) commits a file with dos line breaks
[14:14:40] <Kirben> no it was a direct commit
[14:15:12] <Dominus> yeah, don't know how that happened
