[00:02:19] * Darke thinks that's an amazingly innovative idea! He suggests you get a patent on it right away, before someone steals the concept! *giggle, duck*
[00:03:47] <wjp> hm, an extra call per paint wouldn't be good, would it?
[00:09:27] * Darke thinks 'probably not'.
[01:01:15] <bj0ern> night
[01:01:17] <-- bj0ern has left IRC ("Great heroes demand great opponents")
[01:23:13] <wjp> ok, committed
[01:40:24] <wjp> ugh, enough is enough... time for bed :-)
[01:40:26] <wjp> night
[01:40:37] <-- wjp has left IRC ("Zzzz...")
[02:19:03] --- Darke is now known as Darke|afk
[02:50:25] --- Darke|afk is now known as Darke
[04:04:07] --> DragonSpirit has joined #exult
[04:10:07] <DragonSpirit> well, I don't know if any of you are here right now, but I would like to say I like what you have done, thank you for allowing me to play this again, I used to enjoy it when I was young, I never was able to beat the game until now, I just didn't have the smarts to do it when I was as young as I was, and after that it couldn't play on my newer computers so all it did after that was collect dust until I ran across what you guys did, thank you
[04:10:48] <DragonSpirit> I am playnig around with version 1.1 now, I like a few of the things that are added in this one
[04:15:41] * Darke bows. Thanks.
[04:16:28] <DragonSpirit> heh someone alive, hey one thing though, is it normal if you use the sound pack, to get a little buzz like beeping noise on occasion..
[04:16:36] <Darke> The rest of the team who're not here will see the logs. *grin*
[04:17:04] <Darke> I think so. I think that may be crickets chirping, or something. *grin*
[04:17:31] <DragonSpirit> ok, its all cool, not the end of the world, I do like the digital music patch
[04:17:42] <DragonSpirit> that way my timidity doesn't have to use all my cpu
[04:17:59] * Darke snickers. There is that 'problem' with timidity, yes.
[04:18:25] <DragonSpirit> yea but thats normal for timidity
[04:18:33] <DragonSpirit> nothing to do with exult
[04:19:02] <DragonSpirit> well mainly I just wanted to say its cool stuff you all got there
[04:22:01] * Darke nods. He's used timidity standalone and seen the cpu usage jump through the roof. *grin*
[04:23:06] <DragonSpirit> oh one more thing, I have been working on building rpms out of alot of source code I have come across found interesting and downloaded and have gotten to compile on my machine, so if I can manage to get exult 1.1 in rpm for a mandrake 8.2 system with the SDL libraries upgraded to 1.2.4 would you like them?
[04:24:23] <Darke> I think we'd probably be interested. Your best bet is to email the exult-general mailing list with the offer and someone will sort it out though there. *grin*
[04:25:42] <DragonSpirit> ok no problem, one thing I just thought of, when I am in trinsic, and its in the beginning of the game, I go to check out the murder, I pick up the key and put it in my inventory, well when the mayor asks for the report... key isn't an option for what I saw in the murder
[04:26:02] <DragonSpirit> just the bubket and the body
[04:26:07] <DragonSpirit> bucket I mean sorry
[04:27:18] <Darke> Hmm... it's been a while. I can't remember if the option was there in the original.
[04:27:46] <DragonSpirit> yea, thats the one option that is the right responce
[04:28:04] <Darke> It has really been a while then. *grin* Curious.
[04:28:05] <DragonSpirit> otherwise he tells you to go look closer and investigate it better or something
[04:28:59] <DragonSpirit> I started a game in version .96 once, it worked I think in that one
[04:29:25] <DragonSpirit> of course I do relise 1.1 is a work in progress and is cvs
[04:29:58] <DragonSpirit> but, as far as I can see, its pretty stable
[04:29:59] <Darke> Yeah. There's been a lot of little things broken recently, wjp just fixed a problem with the shape viewer today. *grin* That's likely one of them.
[04:31:19] <DragonSpirit> that exult studio is a nice bit of work, has the potential to design a whole new game I imagine
[04:31:37] <DragonSpirit> some people I am sure woud enjoy that
[04:32:42] <DragonSpirit> I am curious though, what inspires someone to write such a detailed wonderful thing, and just give it to everyone, I mean I think its wonderful you do that, but what makes you want to?
[04:33:54] <Darke> IIRC DrCode's reasoning was that he wants to create a new game, so that's why he wrote it.
[04:34:30] <Darke> As to why we give them away for 'free', it really depends on the person I suppose, I think we've all got different reasons for working on exult. *grin*
[04:34:55] <DragonSpirit> well I think its a fantastic thing you all are doing
[04:35:18] <DragonSpirit> don't see many games like these anymore, and this breaths the life back into it
[04:36:40] <Darke> Agreed.
[04:37:47] <DragonSpirit> ok this may seem like an odd question...
[04:38:20] <DragonSpirit> was the room with the cheerleaders and all in the origional serpent isle
[04:39:03] <DragonSpirit> I was playing around with the F3 teleporter looking at all the odd looking parts of the map
[04:39:48] * Darke nods.
[04:40:38] <DragonSpirit> heh wierd... me thinks the origin guys either had a little pervy side or it just was humor to them
[04:41:11] <Darke> I think it's humor. *grin*
[04:41:41] <DragonSpirit> naked avatars and cheerleaders.. lol, yea it was out of place... cought me off gaurd
[04:42:26] <DragonSpirit> although the exploding butterly made em laugh a long time ago at the end of the quotes
[04:42:35] <DragonSpirit> em=me
[04:43:02] <Darke> I think it was just them having fun, since they had naked humans and such floating around (for the Frigidazzi sequence, IIRC, among other things), the decided to have fun with the cheat room in this one. *grin*
[04:44:03] <DragonSpirit> yea, there was a character also that had a naked well I donno what to call it, its the face you see when you talk to them
[04:44:11] <DragonSpirit> one had clothes and then a nother didn't
[04:45:02] * Darke doesn't know very well, he's never really 'played' SI, just debugged it. *grin*
[04:45:07] <DragonSpirit> did exult include the butterfly explosion
[04:45:19] <DragonSpirit> it was in bg
[04:45:40] <Darke> Can't remember. *grin* You're free to check.
[04:46:03] <DragonSpirit> heh I could do that now.. silly me, I didn't see it in .98 though
[04:46:32] <DragonSpirit> was funny though... it flies and the happy music plays.. then Boom... then the guardian laughs
[04:46:56] * Darke ahhs.
[04:47:19] <DragonSpirit> oh well, lol, no biggy if its nto there.. not a big part of the game
[04:47:32] <DragonSpirit> if its not there I ment
[04:48:24] <DragonSpirit> heh well don't let me take up to much of your time... thank you
[04:48:36] <DragonSpirit> keep up the great work
[04:48:37] <Darke> No problem. *grin*
[04:50:25] --> hi_there1234 has joined #exult
[04:50:37] <DragonSpirit> well I am out, bye now, and if I can I will get the newest download and see how it runs ok on here then see what i can do about making an rpm sending you guys an email about it
[04:50:42] <-- hi_there1234 has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[04:51:49] * Darke nods. Bye!

[08:08:13] <Kirben> objs/objs.cc:991: previously used here
[08:14:59] * Darke hmms... and looks.
[08:42:45] <Kirben> Would have been caused by wjps last submit, strange part is it was submitted to other branch too which still compiles fine.
[08:48:12] * Darke can't seem to see what the problem might be.
[08:48:50] * Darke notes for some reason it took the better part of 10 minutes to update his exult tree. Don't tell me I'm coming down with the 'slow update' virus. *grin*
[08:49:56] <Darke> From the error it's 'obvious' that it's got something to do with the case labels, but they're all unique afaict.

[09:19:55] <wjp> hi
[09:20:08] <Darke> Hi.
[09:27:12] <wjp> oh, yes, I broke that switch
[09:29:04] <wjp> that's what you get with a 100-case switch that isn't sorted :-)
[09:30:54] <wjp> Kirben: fix committed
[09:31:16] * Darke snickers.
[09:31:17] * wjp runs off for some breakfast, please redirect any other complaints to /dev/null ;-)
[09:32:04] <Darke> cat Kirben > /dev/null; ? *grin*
[09:32:39] <Kirben> ??
[09:34:48] <Kirben> wjp: yep, that fixed the problem
[09:36:20] <Darke> wjp told me to redirect any other complaints to /dev/null, so I preemptively did it. Proactive aren't I? *grin*
[09:37:44] * Darke decides it's the time of the night when he should step away from the keyboard so no-one get's hurt. *grin*
[09:40:23] <wjp> lol
[09:41:57] * Darke quite likes that. Admittedly it's partially stolen from a 'cutscene' a friend had created in a game he'd mentally designed, but still. *grin*
[09:45:31] <wjp> hm, the 'key' option works for me in BG
[09:47:43] <wjp> oh, bah, missed a break
