[05:12:19] <Dominus> Colourless: Exult Studio crashes right on starting it and there is nothing written to the log and no error message at all, except for the one I mentioned in Windows ME. The only log entry which is there is when the exult.cfg is still in the same location as the exe, then it will log that it is not being used
[05:13:09] <Dominus> Perhaps some gnu compiler versus MS compiler issue, I guess you are still compiling with MS and the snapshots are alwaysdone with mingw
[05:14:03] <Dominus> I do not have a working compile environment for Windows anymore so I can't trace which change is the evil one
[05:14:40] <Dominus> Kirben, maybe you can trace which change by Colourless broke starting of Exult Studio?
[05:38:54] <Kirben> Last working Exult Studio build I have is dated 13th April, and I didn't think there had been any related changes since either.
[05:51:57] <Dominus> hi, whatever change that prompts you (or your automatic build system) to update ES must have been it :)
[05:52:09] <Dominus> there was also a change to /shapes/...
[05:52:49] <Dominus> shapes/baseinf.h
[06:15:53] <-- Marzo has left IRC (Read error: Operation timed out)
[07:29:30] <Colourless> i compiled exult studio myself using gcc
[07:29:35] <Colourless> it worked fine
[07:47:21] <Dominus> then I can only think of different gcc versions
[07:49:03] <Colourless> the build was with debugging and optimizatins enabled.
[07:49:20] <Colourless> ug, optimizatinos were disabled imean
[07:49:33] <Colourless> will try a 'standard' build that does have optimizatinos enabled
[07:49:43] <Colourless> i'm using gcc 4.4.0 btw
[07:53:44] <Dominus> kirben is using gcc, version: 4.2.1-dw2
[07:54:05] <Colourless> well, they just finished building
[07:55:16] * Colourless shrugs also works fine
[07:56:02] <Colourless> i did experience a crash on startup if exult_studio.glade wasn't in the data dir. sure its not that?
[07:56:55] <Dominus> I'm pretty sure it's not that since the installer doesn't delete stuff
[07:58:12] <Dominus> also the working version crashes with an assertion failed when the glade file is not there
[07:58:28] <Dominus> the no working version just crashes without message
[08:00:15] <Dominus> the windows xp error log also shows a msvcrt error
[08:00:32] <Dominus> I just remembered to look at that
[08:01:48] <Dominus> Exception: c0000005 at address 77c17a6f (MSVCRT!strncmp)
[08:06:23] <Dominus> looking more and more like a compiler issue
[08:06:47] <Dominus> kirben, did you switch gcc compiler since april?
[08:07:23] <Colourless> could also be a library issue
[08:07:46] <Kirben> No, seems related to compile environment though.
[08:08:17] <Kirben> I switched to an older backup of my mingw tree, and crash no longer occurs.
[08:09:37] <Dominus> oh, I hated such things with mingw, trying to remember what things I did to my mingw tree to backtrace where it went wrong
[08:10:12] <Colourless> my mingw tree hasn't changed since the beginning of the year.
[08:18:18] <Dominus> I can confirm the new snapshot working again
[08:35:01] <Colourless> yay, good to know
[08:35:15] <Colourless> (that i didn't screw up *MY* changes)
[08:42:23] <Dominus> yeah, sorry for blaming you
[08:42:42] <-- Sevalecpp has left IRC (Excess Flood)
[08:43:16] --> Sevalecpp has joined #exult
[08:59:23] <Dominus> colourless, about fullscreen issues, yes those resolutions are unsupported and in fullscreen mode these do not fill the screen but instead have black borders filling out the rest.
[08:59:56] <Dominus> since it is working, let'S not bother with it anymore :)
[09:48:16] <-- Kirben has left IRC ()
[10:30:03] <Colourless> [18:12] <Dominus> yeah, sorry for blaming you << it was a reasonable assumption to make. I was cleaning up code and sometimes I was struggling to work out what the intended behaviour of the code should be
