[04:40:37] <Baastuul> Hi, tiffini.
[04:42:58] <tiffini> Hi Baastuul :)
[04:43:17] <tiffini> How are you tonight?
[04:43:26] <Baastuul> Not bad, how are you doing? :)
[04:44:18] <tiffini> Eh, I'm alright I suppose. Just missing my Dad. Thats why I'm here.
[04:44:55] <Baastuul> Ahh, where'd your dad go off to?
[04:45:19] <tiffini> Hehe, i wish i knew. :)
[04:45:23] <tiffini> He died last fall.
[04:45:34] <Baastuul> Ohh, I'm sorry to hear. :/
[04:45:53] <tiffini> Yeah, it sucks.
[04:46:06] <tiffini> Do or did you play UO?
[04:46:25] <Baastuul> I played UO in 2000 for a year, and then afterward I played on and off for a couple months at a time.
[04:46:34] <tiffini> what server?
[04:46:39] <Baastuul> I have an unused Age of Shadows account and I plan on buying the 7th Anniversary Edition as soon as I can.
[04:46:40] <Baastuul> Sonoma.
[04:47:04] <Baastuul> I'm mainly just an Ultima fan boy, that's why I still buy them. Yeah, I know, it's pathetic, but what the hey. ;)
[04:47:17] <tiffini> I never did get into UO too much, but my dad really was into it. He was sort of famous on the Atlantic server.
[04:47:53] <Baastuul> Hah, really? My history teacher last year was trying to see if he knew of anybody at our school that played UO because he was getting married and wouldn't have time for it. He said that he had a really buff and rich character on Atlantic.
[04:47:56] <tiffini> Yeah, i played 7 with Exult for a while and its an awesome game... but I get stuck and its too easy to cheat, so its not as fun.
[04:48:15] <Baastuul> I sunk tons of hours into Ultima 7 when I was a little kid.
[04:48:33] <tiffini> Yeah? I think my dad owns the Atlantic Mage Tower...
[04:49:00] <tiffini> err owned anyway. I suppose its mine now, if i reactivate the account. But its like blessed or something? I dunno.
[04:49:06] <Baastuul> I haven't played on Atlantic before, so I don't really know what that is. :)
[04:49:42] <tiffini> Yeah someone was talking about it here
[04:49:45] <tiffini> http://www.math.leidenuniv.nl/~wpalenst/exultlog.php?log=9Jan2004
[04:49:55] * Baastuul opens.
[04:51:27] <Baastuul> hmm. :)
[04:52:03] <tiffini> Yeah, i mostly remember playing Ultima 3,4, and 5 with my dad. I was in elementary school. Ultima 3 we played on the first Macintoshes.... the ones with the CPU and Monitor in one. Black and white screen. But then we played 4 and 5 on the Apple//c
[04:52:21] <tiffini> with a "color" monitor. Woot.
[04:52:37] <Baastuul> Cool. I was too young to appreciate those things when they came out. I mainly got into computers when we got a 486 in 1993/1994ish.
[04:52:56] * Baastuul is only 17 :/
[04:53:32] <tiffini> Ahhh :) Its always neat how age doesnt matter online.
[04:53:51] <Baastuul> Well... sometimes it does :)
[04:53:55] <tiffini> My Dad was 59 and he had a buddy he played UO with who was 13.
[04:54:08] <tiffini> Really mature kid of course.
[04:54:20] <Baastuul> yeah... not many of those at age 13 :)
[04:54:24] <tiffini> I think hes probably 17-18 by now.
[04:54:43] <tiffini> hmmm... maybe im exaggerating a bit.
[04:54:48] <tiffini> ah well.
[04:54:52] <Baastuul> hehehe
[04:55:18] <Baastuul> I played this slightly UO-ish MMORPG called Dransik nearly a year ago, I think... and it was full of really immature preteens.
[04:56:07] <tiffini> That can get terribly annoying.
[04:56:12] <Baastuul> Yep.
[04:56:26] <Baastuul> What bugs me the most is when I'm around people that ALWAYS substitute "u" for "you."
[04:56:32] <Baastuul> And all the other irritating AOL-ish abbreviations.
[04:57:06] <tiffini> Absolutely!
[04:57:29] <Baastuul> There was this one guy from Dransik (a 13 year old)
[04:57:34] <Baastuul> I made the mistake of giving him my AIM screen name
[04:57:38] <Baastuul> He bugged me for about 3 months
[04:57:46] <Baastuul> And always talked like a half-wit
[04:57:48] <tiffini> I dont understand how that doesnt drive everyone crazy.
[04:58:38] <tiffini> The other day I corrected myself for using "to" instead of "too" and someone told me I could have just put 2... ugh.
[04:59:09] <Baastuul> Arrgh..
[04:59:16] <Baastuul> That's like... taking a step backwards.
[04:59:46] <tiffini> yep... brb
[05:00:20] <tiffini> hehe it just occured to me that I just used an abbreviation too, but that one is functional.
[05:01:12] <Baastuul> Yeah.
[05:01:31] <Baastuul> Those are about the only abbreviations that I use/accept.
[05:01:41] <Baastuul> brb, bbl, bbiab, bbiaf
[05:02:02] <Baastuul> Sometimes wb (for welcome back)
[05:02:08] <Baastuul> And maybe atm
[05:03:06] <tiffini> bbiab? bbiaf?
[05:03:14] <Baastuul> bbiab = Be back in a bit
[05:03:16] <Baastuul> bbiaf = Be back in a few
[05:03:23] <tiffini> Ahh
[05:03:29] <Baastuul> But it's generally easier just to say, "I'll be back soon."
[05:04:28] <tiffini> Yeah, brb has just become a bit of a word for me, I suppose.
[05:04:36] <sbx> bbbq
[05:04:36] <Baastuul> Or, "My physical presence will be leaving the area momentarily to do something which does not involve the current situation; it shall return within the confines of few minutes."
[05:04:52] <Baastuul> a few minutes, rather.
[05:04:56] <Baastuul> Hey sbx :)
[05:05:05] <sbx> the extra b is for byobb
[05:05:23] <Baastuul> hehe
[05:05:32] <sbx> hi
[05:05:44] <Baastuul> How's it going?
[05:06:10] <sbx> ok
[05:06:18] <sbx> was just reading the conversation
[05:06:42] <sbx> someone in #pentagram was having fun with abbreviations yesterday
[05:06:52] <tiffini> hehe. You remind me of my husband Baastuul.
[05:07:22] <sbx> that may or may not be a compliment
[05:07:31] <Baastuul> Is he an anal grammar freak, tiffini? ;)
[05:08:11] <tiffini> yes. :)
[05:08:15] <Baastuul> Sbx, how were they having fun with abbreviations? :D
[05:08:21] <tiffini> And he's witty.
[05:08:37] <Baastuul> WTTAW2UA??
[05:09:22] <sbx> "what r u doing"
[05:09:39] <Baastuul> nm u?
[05:09:53] <Baastuul> lol ur so funy
[05:11:16] <sbx> i played Dransik
[05:11:22] <sbx> when it had u5 graphics
[05:11:25] <sbx> I think I said that before
[05:11:26] <Baastuul> What'd you think of it, sbx?
[05:11:38] <Baastuul> Heheh, yeah, I saw the screenshots from those days. I only played after those, though.
[05:12:16] <sbx> I thought it was difficult
[05:12:35] <sbx> and somebody attacked me and stole my stuff
[05:12:37] <Baastuul> I don't know how it was back then (obviously), but it was pretty easy when the new engine and graphics and all that came.
[05:12:41] <Baastuul> :/
[05:12:54] <sbx> and every time I died I would reappear in the wilderness
[05:13:06] <sbx> fortunately it was someone else's account
[05:13:13] <Baastuul> haha
[05:13:26] <sbx> he let me borrow it for awhile
[05:13:31] <Baastuul> http://www.dransik.com/
[05:13:38] <Baastuul> I think the company that made Dransik got bought out or something.
[05:13:45] <Baastuul> There's only a tiny section dedicated to Dransik on that site.
[05:13:49] <Baastuul> And the rest of it is to other ventures.
[05:14:31] <Baastuul> I've been back in Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds for the past month. It was the first MMOG I've ever played, and it's kind of a nostalia trip going back.
[05:14:40] <Baastuul> nostalgia, rather.
[05:16:27] <Baastuul> What do you guys think of Ultima X: Odyssey?
[05:16:40] <Baastuul> I think it looks like a proverbial milking of the cash cow of that which is called Ultima.
[05:20:09] <sbx> havn't looked.... I don't really follow Ultima news.
[05:20:38] <sbx> But yes, it doesn't look much like old Ultimas from what I saw on the Exult forum.
[05:21:18] <tiffini> Theres an X?
[05:21:24] <Baastuul> I might play it because it looks somewhat interesting in its own way, but I don't think I'll ever consider it an Ultima.
[05:21:32] <tiffini> err a X
[05:21:38] <Baastuul> Tiffini, they're slapping that name on for their next online franchise.
[05:21:41] <Baastuul> http://www.uxo.ea.com/
[05:21:52] <Baastuul> They're going for the "cartoony" look. >.<
[05:22:01] <tiffini> yeah cause origin sold out...
[05:22:35] <sbx> ^_^
[05:22:44] <Baastuul> ^_________^
[05:24:12] <Baastuul> Richard Garriott's latest online project, Tabula Rasa, doesn't look that interesting, to be honest.
[05:24:51] <Baastuul> When I first heard that he started up Destination Games shortly after UO2 was cancelled, I kept my eye on the site religiously until they stopped updating it for around a year or so. And then all of a sudden, yesterday I was looking at MMORPG.com and I see news about Tabula Rasa.
[05:25:01] <Baastuul> I looked at the screenshots and was immediately turned off by it. :/
[05:25:17] <sbx> Why?
[05:25:41] <Baastuul> I don't know, it just looks... stupid. But that's just my personal opinion.
[05:25:54] <Baastuul> The characters look silly and papery.
[05:26:27] <Baastuul> I don't know, I guess I'll just have to give it a bit of a longer look.
[05:26:30] <sbx> But we know the graphics can be deceiving.
[05:26:33] <Baastuul> I didn't stick around the site for a very long time yesterday.
[05:26:37] <Baastuul> True... but I dunno.
[05:27:29] <Baastuul> I'll probably read the story and backdrop and everything later tonight.
[05:28:14] <-- tiffini has left #exult ()
[05:28:50] <sbx> bye
[05:29:09] <Baastuul> I wonder where she went.
[05:29:38] <Baastuul> Do you think that Tabula Rasa will be good, sbx?
[05:30:09] <sbx> no Idea
[05:30:26] <sbx> I don't have time to spend playing online games
