[12:09:37] <Colourless> and the HotU expansion is supposed to improve it a bit again

[12:11:14] <Colourless> of course, the improvements only affect the the actual expansion. The SoU improvements do not effect the original NWN, and HotU improvments wont effect SoU and so on

[12:11:39] <Colourless> in HotU, if i'm not mistaken they allow you to have more than one
[12:12:06] <Colourless> if you are not a spell caster, keep all your Summon Creature scrolls

[12:15:15] <wjp> I guess that means that mage-combat is a lot less complex than in BG2:ToB :/

[12:17:48] <Colourless> in the Trade of Blades you can get different henchmen. Just talk to all of them to find out what they do

[12:18:21] <Colourless> now, you 'should' hire all of them, because if you complete their individual quests you get magic items, which later in the game can get upgraded
[12:18:30] <wjp> I hired the rogue at the start and cleared out the prison with him

[12:19:16] <Colourless> to get start their quests, you need to talk to them about their pasts
[12:19:44] <wjp> that rogue didn't want to tell me yet because I wasn't experienced enough :-)

[12:20:34] <wjp> hm, don't think I tried it yet after my last level up, come to think of it
[12:20:38] <Colourless> silly thing about it, you might find 'odd' items around the place that are worth like 1 gp
[12:20:59] <Colourless> they 'might' be quest items for the henchmen, so selling them might not be wise :-)

[12:23:26] <Colourless> i would know, i sold a henchman plot item, and spent ages attempting to find who i sold it too
[12:24:05] <wjp> hm, I think I only sold armour, weapons and gems so far
[12:25:40] <Colourless> annoyance in the game is that by the time you can by +1, then +2 armour/weapons, you probably have already found them on quests

[12:28:07] <Colourless> by the end of the game i could get my armour class upto 31, and i was a bard, with only the light armour feat :-)

[12:34:56] <wjp> in our "real life" (well....) D&D game we just finished an adventure and I got enough gold out of it to buy some nice Gauntlets of Ogre Power +2 (+2 to strength)

[13:06:34] * Darke always found it odd that the relatively low-magic D&D worlds, always seemed to end up being incredibly high in magic when translated into computer games. Just look at the gold-box series, for example. *grin*
[13:11:00] <Darke> Then again, the p&p rules of some of the worlds could never make up their mind either, really. Just take Forgotten Realms, with Ed Greenwood^W^WElminster doing things that put gods to shame with his magic, the Red Wizards running around with multiple armies of golems/skeletons and copious amounts of magical weaponry/armour. For a faction that controls a large territory, and has been at war with basicly the rest of Faerun for quite a while (a thousand years? ca
[13:11:00] <Darke> n't remember...) they seem to have let little of their magical items be 'lost' in combat and disseminated to the rest of the world.
[13:13:16] <Darke> Then you have an adventure group of 1-3rd level characters running around with a potion or two, and maybe a +1 sword from their adventures, cities and towns lacking much in the way of magic (though their 'elite' guardsmen may have a +1/2 armour/weapon), and a general magic-awe of the population. Doesn't really seem to knit together well. *grin*
