[02:45:51] <-- Darke has left IRC ("*fluff*")
[02:48:41] --> Darke has joined #exult
[02:48:41] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Darke
[03:32:16] <-- Darke has left IRC (saberhagen.freenode.net irc.freenode.net)
[03:32:34] --> Darke has joined #exult
[04:15:20] <Kirben> Does patch at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=497728&group_id=2335&atid=302335 look alright ?
[04:16:14] <Kirben> Just compiling its changes now...
[04:17:12] <Kirben> Wondering if I should add it to exult 1.1cvs if it works ok...
[04:21:33] * Darke thinks it looks 'ok', but is not particularly familiar with that area of the code. *grin* OTOP, if it works like he says it works, then he doesn't see the problem.
[04:41:59] <Kirben> hmm doesn't compile, for some reason max() isn't been defined on this system:
[04:42:00] <Kirben> mouse.cc: In member function `void Mouse::set_speed_cursor()':
[04:42:00] <Kirben> mouse.cc:286: `max' undeclared (first use this function)
[04:42:00] <Kirben> mouse.cc:286: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each
[04:42:00] <Kirben> function it appears in.)
[04:42:37] <Darke> Maybe try to change max() to std::max()?
[04:42:59] <Kirben> ok will try
[04:44:07] <Kirben> that works :)
[04:44:12] <Kirben> thanks
[04:45:30] <Darke> No problem. *grin* gcc3.2 is a _bit_ more pedantic then gcc2.9x.
[04:47:39] <Kirben> Would adding a using std::max; to start of mouse.cc be better ?
[04:51:44] <Darke> Probably adding the 'using' would be better. I only normally add a using if I'm going to use it more then once though. *grin* But that's completely arbitary on my part.
[04:53:49] <Kirben> ok will do it that way than, since max() is used three times.
[05:14:20] <Kirben> Patch works fairly well, not quite as easy to out run wild enemies but still doesn't seem as good as original.
[05:14:59] <Kirben> Don't work when guards attacks either.
[05:25:59] * Darke hmms... Guards must be flagged differently or something.
[05:30:38] --> Colourless has joined #Exult
[05:30:38] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Colourless
[05:31:26] <Colourless> zhi@
[05:35:17] * Darke blinks and thinks Colourless needs to remember to untie his fingers before proceeding to type. *grin* Hi!
[05:35:39] <Colourless> :-)
[05:38:14] <Kirben> Is 'Party' npc flag in cheat menu disabled ?
[05:38:35] <Colourless> it hasn't been implemented
[05:48:37] <Kirben> Should patch at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=497022&group_id=2335&atid=302335 be rejected ?
[05:49:19] <Colourless> no idea
[05:49:25] <Kirben> doesn't seem needed since configure detects the gimp plugin directory.
[06:39:54] <-- Colourless has left IRC ("casts invisibility")
[11:35:00] --> Colourless has joined #Exult
[11:35:00] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Colourless
[11:35:48] <Colourless> hi
[11:39:51] <Darke> Hi.
[12:36:26] --> wjp has joined #exult
[12:36:26] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to wjp
[12:36:28] <wjp> hi
[12:36:39] <Colourless> hi
[12:50:46] <Darke> Hi!
[13:10:48] <wjp> Colourless: looks like the scummvm people may be interested in using xmidi.{h,cc}
[13:12:26] <Colourless> licence issues. we are gpl, they are lgpl
[13:13:39] <wjp> actually scummvm's license is a bit more complex than that
[13:13:49] <wjp> not exactly sure about the current state of things, though
[13:14:57] <wjp> at least part of their code is GPL
[13:16:36] <Kirben> it should not matter, since xmidi is only required for simon section.
[13:17:06] <Kirben> the lucasarts situation I mean
[13:17:09] <wjp> ah, is that why the simon music sounds utterly horrible?
[13:17:17] <wjp> (lack of xmidi support, I mean)
[13:17:17] <Kirben> no
[13:17:39] <Kirben> which simon game are you using ?
[13:17:45] <wjp> 1dos
[13:17:54] <Colourless> Kirben: um, gpl is horribly annoying. if you want to use gpl code, your entire project needs to be gpl
[13:18:07] <Kirben> three different midi formats used by simon games, only two of which are supported
[13:18:11] <wjp> well, no; only compatible by gpl
[13:18:16] <wjp> s/by/with/
[13:18:26] <wjp> (I think?)
[13:18:34] <Kirben> simon 1 dos non-talkie music support not isn't complete, that is most likely why.
[13:19:14] <Kirben> it uses gmf midi format
[13:20:00] <Kirben> I guess someone will have to code xmidi from scratch for scummvm than.
[13:20:22] <Colourless> actually, no, that shouldn't technically be required
[13:20:52] <Colourless> if we can get everyone who worked on xmidi.cc/h to agree to make it LGPL then they wouldn't have a problem
[13:21:08] <Kirben> who else worked on it ?
[13:21:26] <Colourless> lets find out
[13:22:08] <Kirben> oh I see, look in cvs logs.
[13:22:18] <wjp> or cvs annotate
[13:22:46] <wjp> hm, from what I can tell most scummvm files have a GPL header
[13:23:30] <Colourless> me, fingolfin, darke, wjp, dancer, nadir, jameson
[13:23:52] <Colourless> hmm, it appears it it gpl
[13:23:58] <Colourless> License: GNU General Public License (GPL)
[13:24:09] <Colourless> shouldn't be any issue then
[13:43:07] <Kirben> Colourless: Any chance I could interest you in joining scummvm ? or too busy / no interest in old adventure games
[13:46:49] <Colourless> one slight problem. i don't exacrtly have any of the lucas arts games
[13:47:13] <Colourless> i would join, but i don't really have much to offer
[13:49:08] <Kirben> I can offer some testing materials and you could be helpful on simon side (music code) if interested.
[13:49:29] <Kirben> can find most of the old lucasarts games second hand still
[13:49:37] <Kirben> thats how I got most of mine.
[13:49:59] <Kirben> I think monkey games are only ones still for game in australia.
[13:50:08] <Colourless> i might, we'll see
[13:50:31] <Colourless> the only game i've got is actually loom (disk)
[13:50:43] <Kirben> not supported yet
[13:50:54] <Kirben> but getting closer
[13:51:00] <Colourless> on 5
[13:51:18] <Colourless> i don't have a 5 drive in my system :-)
[13:51:35] <Kirben> currently the focus is on finishing ft and indy3 (256 color), than moving onto older games like zak, maniac manian and loom 16 color versions.
[13:53:22] <Kirben> 5.25 disks, that is real old, could alway find another copy.
[13:54:12] <Colourless> got a 5 drive in another system (just so i can access old things on 5) :-)
[13:55:32] <Kirben> Would be good time to move it onto better media than. Those old disks never lasted that well.
[13:56:04] <Colourless> might actually think about backing up old games onto cd
[13:56:57] <Kirben> good idea, scummvm makes that easier with later games too as can compress down those full sound files.
[13:57:37] <Kirben> and convert audio tracks too.
[13:58:44] <Kirben> could fit all the old games on one cd, except maybe dig/ft.
[15:06:53] --- Darke is now known as Darke|zzZ
