[04:02:08] <-- TheCycoONE has left IRC (Quit: And then there were n-1)
[04:05:04] --> eviltar has joined #exult
[04:05:45] <eviltar> ello
[04:06:31] <eviltar> i was adding some more joystick support in pentagram, its not phenominal but its working to play with a gamepad
[04:06:39] <eviltar> idk if you guys want it
[04:07:21] <eviltar> jus tpastebinned the whole file for GUIApp.cpp
[04:07:24] <eviltar> http://pastebin.com/4e8Lj1iT
[04:08:14] <-- nutron has left IRC (Quit: I must go eat my cheese!)
[04:09:04] <eviltar> i like the way you did the joystick cursor, thanks for that
[04:10:11] <eviltar> not having any trouble with screen/gump x,y translation this time
[06:03:56] <-- eviltar has left IRC (Quit: Leaving.)
[08:45:37] --> Dominus has joined #exult
[08:45:38] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Dominus
[12:23:30] --> TheCycoONE has joined #exult
[13:28:37] <-- Kirben_ has left IRC ()
[18:18:40] --> eviltar has joined #exult
[18:19:25] <eviltar> looking at irc logs, dominus you wanted to look at using the trackpad differently?
[18:19:50] <eviltar> look at the GP2X exult port
[18:23:51] <eviltar> http://www.retrowip.com/category/proyectos/software/interpretes/
[18:24:30] <eviltar> he has his source posted there, and calls it touchscreen support, but it should be similar enough to what you want to do
[18:30:22] * eviltar pokes Dominus
[18:33:36] <eviltar> sleeping dragons
[18:33:56] <Dominus> hey eviltar
[18:34:26] <eviltar> ohai there
[18:34:52] <Dominus> I added your pentagram patch to the patch tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=471708&aid=3572694&group_id=53819
[18:35:01] <Dominus> and made a proper patch out of it
[18:35:22] <eviltar> oh really? cool i thought maybe you guys just might like to use it while dinking around before a RC
[18:35:45] <Dominus> no idea if pentagram will ever see a rc...
[18:35:55] <eviltar> i got pentagram running on my xbox360 lol
[18:36:20] <eviltar> this time with all gpl open source tools
[18:36:28] <Dominus> oh, cool
[18:36:32] <eviltar> instead of the MS sdk
[18:36:52] <eviltar> we've been working on a project called libXenon
[18:37:04] <Dominus> if you have a proper patch for all of the changes you had to do we could at least keep it in the tracker
[18:37:31] <eviltar> finally its up to snuff if not better than the official sdk since its like running baremetal embedded on the hardware instead of under their kernel
[18:38:01] <eviltar> so its mostly like building for posix
[18:38:10] <eviltar> linux, unix, w/e
[18:38:30] <eviltar> yeah i'll be able to do a much cleaner patch this time
[18:38:33] <Dominus> that sounds good
[18:39:17] <eviltar> im tripping out tho that when anything prints to the console its printing on screen and scrolling the framebuffer
[18:39:41] <eviltar> i need to kill the console i think
[18:40:33] <eviltar> ive added a uart hooked into the machine anyway
[18:42:27] <eviltar> anyway if i figure this all out i'll probably re-port exult with this new open source toolchain so i can submit a patch for that too
[18:43:00] <Dominus> as I told you before, I would welcome this :)
[18:43:19] <eviltar> all of 5 people cared about the port anyway but its all about ultima really, running on everything
[18:44:36] <eviltar> still keep meaning to port nuvie too
[18:44:55] <Dominus> nuvie is getting further and further these days
[18:45:17] <Dominus> as it moves towards a full map mode it becomes more and more interesting :)
[18:45:41] <Dominus> don't forget that there are the channels for those projects as well
[18:45:42] <eviltar> looks pretty good, i wanted to port u6online but their source looks freightening
[18:45:54] <Dominus> see #pentagram and #nuvie
[18:46:19] <Dominus> I'd also rather port nuvie if you don't care about the online aspect
[18:46:20] <eviltar> right right, i sont stay connected here all the time, my bnc is on efnet
[18:47:05] <eviltar> yeah nuvie looks a lot more doable, but how cool would it be to have a MMO homebrew on a console like the 360
[18:47:06] <Dominus> bnc? Berufsverband Niedergelassener Chirurgen? :)
[18:47:14] <eviltar> bouncer?
[18:47:19] <Dominus> :)
[18:47:24] <eviltar> lol
[18:47:50] <Dominus> as I don't have an xbox, I'm not sure how cool that is :)
[18:48:51] <Dominus> I couldn't get interested in u6online in the first place anyway :)
[18:49:08] <eviltar> eh, in the console scenes, there is the money makers that ask for donations, sell shitty addon hardware, etc make a business of it, then there are the people that push to void the waranty to make it your own and run what you want on it, and encourage things like make homebrew softwares and do ports etc
[18:49:43] <Dominus> I *do* appreciate homebrew on my Wii :)
[18:49:49] <eviltar> i found a way to install Mint Debian on my console hdd
[18:50:11] <eviltar> it was kind of fun for a while to have a 99$ 6-core pc
[18:50:23] <Dominus> he he
[18:51:06] <eviltar> but we haven't reversed the gpu enough to have any gfx accelleration
[18:52:04] <Dominus> Colourless, the touchscreen stuff from the gp2x port might be interesting http://www.retrowip.com/en/2008/02/08/exult/ The port is based on Exult 1.2 though, so really ancient and I have no idea when I look at it :)
[18:52:24] <eviltar> i havent gotten into the wii much yet, ah that, the controller code will work fine
[18:52:50] <eviltar> i based my joystick/mouse emu for exult off his work
[18:53:01] <Dominus> I like Zelda, so the Wii is my thing :)
[18:53:05] <eviltar> and it merged into 1.4 fine
[18:53:22] <eviltar> do you use winmerge or Meld ?
[18:53:38] <eviltar> its tits for comparing two build folders of source
[18:53:39] <Dominus> eviltar, the problem is that I'm really not much of a coder so I would have no idea what I'm doing
[18:53:46] <eviltar> its all visual
[18:53:55] <eviltar> highlights the changes
[18:54:27] <eviltar> you would see it pop out at you to merge that against vanilla 1.2, could make a diff, then apply that to 1.4
[18:54:35] * Dominus points again at my inability to code much, so when he sees the changes it's still gibberish mostly
[18:54:57] <eviltar> eh, i cant really code either
[18:55:14] <eviltar> but i can guess really well it seems
[18:56:14] <Dominus> I can do simple stuff that I can kind of figure out (configure stuff or when there is some kind of template that I can look at, for example the porting of the HQ4x stuff)
[19:18:11] <eviltar> for real tho if you use a merging tool like winmerge or meld, you would see how he did the touchscreen and could copy it
[19:18:31] <eviltar> its not that deep
[19:19:17] <-- TheCycoONE has left IRC (Quit: And then there were n-1)
[19:54:03] <Serel> Dominus, shame on you. At least stroke your chin and fake understanding....
[19:54:50] <eviltar> tbh porting exult to the 360 was kind of how i learned c
[19:55:20] <eviltar> just comparing other ports to trunk, and comparing other apps ported to 360
[19:55:26] <eviltar> merging it all together
[19:56:08] <eviltar> went into that knowing about only enough to build already workign source
[19:56:16] <eviltar> and used google a lot
[19:57:52] <eviltar> i can say with confindence i have faith anyone competent enough to get on IRC could manage to do the same
[19:58:22] <eviltar> or winmerge is that awesome of an app ;)
[19:58:29] <Dominus> grrr
[20:01:53] <eviltar> ok ok :D
[20:06:16] <eviltar> than as a tip to colourless all his changes are in touchscreen.cc and exult.cc
[20:06:30] <eviltar> for the touch controls
[21:13:50] <Dominus> wjp, marzo, colourless, can anyone review a patch I made? http://pastebin.com/qLp0ufnC
[21:14:16] <Dominus> it's for selecting whether single or doubleclick pathfinds the avatar
[21:14:39] <Dominus> problems so far: when single click is selected a doubleclick pathfinds as well
[21:15:13] <Dominus> and I don't know how to make exult remove the now invalid "config/gameplay/allow_double_right_move" setting. I think we can do this but how?
[21:28:43] <Dominus> ah, it's config->remove
[21:32:57] <Dominus> but where to add?
[21:41:21] <Dominus> in the patch tracker at https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3572527&group_id=2335&atid=302335
[23:02:36] <-- Marzo has left IRC (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
