[12:33:50] <Colourless> hi
[13:23:55] <Colourless> well, looks like you have broken yesterdays record
[13:35:32] <fingolfin> 1 hour :)
[13:35:45] <Colourless> 1 hour, 2 minutes :-)
[13:36:00] <fingolfin> pfff

[17:18:11] <Colourless> hi
[17:18:22] <Dominus> hi
[17:18:26] <Dominus> want to play the gameß
[17:18:29] <Dominus> ?
[17:18:37] <Dominus> LOL
[17:18:37] <Colourless> :-)
[17:19:12] <Dominus> I almost said "wanna play the game?"
[17:22:38] <Dominus> what the ... is "walk after teleport"?
[17:23:03] <Colourless> more info?
[17:23:23] <Dominus> changes by christian ohm (cvs)
[17:24:18] <Colourless> I have no idea,
[17:24:24] <Colourless> especially why it's for SI
[17:24:41] <Dominus> I just do a compile
[17:25:32] <Dominus> uh oh, he messed up gumps
[17:26:10] <Colourless> hmmm, lets find out what is broken
[17:30:48] --> wjp has joined #exult
[17:30:52] <wjp> hi
[17:31:08] <Dominus> hi
[17:31:12] <Colourless> hi
[17:32:12] <wjp> hmm, any idea what OS Christian uses?
[17:32:39] <wjp> (he forgot to commit his new .shp as binary)
[17:33:30] <Colourless> i'm sure everyone one of us has done something similar with exult :-)
[17:33:37] <wjp> yeah :-)
[17:33:52] <wjp> .shp file looks ok, though, so I'll just add the binary option
[17:34:10] <Dominus> I think he has linux (from his header from the post way back to the mailing list)
[17:34:57] <wjp> ok, good
[17:37:43] <Colourless> well the shape crashed PSP
[17:37:58] <wjp> you'll have to check it out again
[17:38:22] <wjp> or did you already update it after I said I would add the binary option?
[17:38:37] <Colourless> got to do it again
[17:39:55] * wjp wonders if he should add some bound-checking to the psp-plugin
[17:41:00] <wjp> ...and the gimp plugin, for that matter
[17:41:36] <Colourless> well, and problem in a shape causes the plugin to get a general protection fault
[17:42:04] <Dominus> a bit haesh, isnīt it?
[17:42:10] <Dominus> harsh actually
[17:42:15] <Colourless> ya
[17:44:09] <Dominus> Colourless: saw your post in the barbaric x3dfx board :-)
[17:44:30] <Colourless> :-)
[17:44:36] <Colourless> yeah that was me
[17:44:56] <Dominus> a one shot, I guess
[17:44:59] <wjp> URL?
[17:45:13] <Dominus> http://pub43.ezboard.com/bx3dfx
[17:45:30] <Dominus> but I donīt know which thread Colourless posted in
[17:45:51] <Dominus> itīs all about getting their voodoo boards to run on XP
[17:46:08] <Colourless> it was the one about glide source
[17:46:51] <Colourless> seems to be off the page
[17:47:14] <Dominus> itīs actually quite funny as there is only one guy who has the full source to the 3dfx drivers and he canīt give them away :-)
[17:47:50] <Colourless> so if I only had the friggin MSVC projects for the sources for Glide possibly the problem could be fixed
[17:48:37] <Dominus> :-(
[17:48:59] <wjp> why does everyone there have a picture in their sig?
[17:49:24] <Dominus> they are a bit picture happy
[17:49:25] <Colourless> they seem to think that thet problem is in the directx drivers, but I think the problem is actually in the glide drivers.
[17:49:31] <Colourless> yeah they are
[17:49:39] <Colourless> many of the forums are very picture happy
[17:50:22] * Dominus points to http://pub43.ezboard.com/fx3dfxfrm1.showMessage?topicID=3921.topic and whistles innocently
[17:51:09] <wjp> at least it isn't in the post itself :-)
[17:52:35] <Dominus> Iīm still trying to decide between the phoenix and the picture of that mad guy who shows the finger (donīt know right now which shape that is)
[17:55:38] <Dominus> still canīt figure our what walk after teleport means
[17:56:27] <wjp> NOOOO... palette flashes
[17:56:35] <wjp> *sigh*
[17:56:44] <Colourless> :-)
[17:56:46] <wjp> maybe it's time to redo the palette stuff :-)
[17:57:18] <wjp> Dominus: if you walk onto a teleporter and keep the right mouse button down, you'll still walk after the teleport
[17:57:28] <Dominus> ah, okay
[17:57:48] <wjp> maybe we should just enable it by default
[17:58:08] <wjp> I'm not sure if it's that useful to be able to toggle it
[17:58:09] <Colourless> we should get permission from jeff to change that stuff
[17:58:14] <Dominus> question: is that bug I reported ages ago (with two rings and a staff) also a palette problem?
[17:58:36] <wjp> no, it's a 'bug' in the shape
[17:58:49] <Colourless> yeah, bug with the shape
[17:58:50] <Dominus> really, I never saw it in the original
[17:58:58] <Colourless> I think that the original hacked around it
[17:59:43] <Dominus> ok, thx for clarifying
[17:59:59] <wjp> that 'Spark's pants' bug is strange too
[18:00:10] <wjp> those two pixels are colour 250
[18:00:15] <Colourless> are they?
[18:00:29] <wjp> which is in the 248-251 'orange-yellow-white' cycling range
[18:00:33] <Colourless> i was thinking that might be true
[18:00:44] <Colourless> that range isn't supposed to cycle i think ....
[18:00:52] <Dominus> funny that none of the team even spoke up in that thread :-)
[18:00:53] <wjp> wasn't it used in some teleporters?
[18:01:04] <wjp> Dominus: it isn't worth the effort, really
[18:01:16] * Dominus nods
[18:01:21] <Colourless> hmm, that range might be
[18:01:23] <wjp> I'd sooner kill that thread :-)
[18:02:09] <Dominus> ,
[18:02:26] <Dominus> sorry, wasnīt meant to be typed
[18:02:32] <wjp> np :-)
[18:02:54] <Colourless> it is a problem for me :-)
[18:03:44] <Dominus> hrmpf
[18:05:50] <wjp> hmm, I can't really find any teleporters with 248-251 in BG
[18:06:51] <Colourless> i am trying to find out if that range was animated but for some reason full screen console/dos programs have ceased functioning
[18:07:56] <wjp> I think it's SI-only
[18:08:12] <wjp> SI has a teleporter pad with those colours (sh. 233:1), but BG doesn't
[18:10:54] <Colourless> that range was animated in BG
[18:11:06] <wjp> sure?
[18:11:31] <wjp> bah... more shape patches
[18:11:32] <Colourless> i've got screenshots from the original and in the palette shows that the range was animated cause it different in the various shots
[18:11:49] * wjp nods
[18:12:02] <wjp> ok, pretty convincing :-)
[18:12:45] <Colourless> 252-255 is also animated
[18:12:55] <wjp> hmm
[18:13:07] <Dominus> another note: http://www.it-he.org/ has a new Anti-SI-walkthrorugh (very funny) and at the end there is an exploit that also works in Exult
[18:13:54] <Colourless> well, i said once a long time ago, if exult works correctly, all of the exploits should also work in exult
[18:14:06] <Dominus> when you kill the healer in the Silver Seed fort and then battle Istanar you will get resurrected at the healers but then canīt get killed anymore
[18:14:50] <Dominus> but that only works in Silver Seed (that immortality) but if you use that bug with the pillars you get back to the main land without problems
[18:14:57] <Dominus> and you stay immortal
[18:15:16] <Dominus> :-)
[18:15:24] <Dominus> found out by Joseph Morris
[18:15:26] <Colourless> :-)
[18:15:28] <Colourless> nice
[18:17:31] <Dominus> and another nice thing on the cut off plot (as mentioned in the forum) when your companions are possessed you can scroll to the towns and delete the ggs that kill the npcs and then talk to them
[18:17:57] <Dominus> some really have cut off dialog concerning the rule by the banes
[18:18:09] <Dominus> interesting (for someone that didnīt look at the usecode)
[18:19:25] <Colourless> yeah
[18:19:42] <Colourless> it is well known that SI was running behind schedule
[18:20:49] <Dominus> Knowing this somehow spoils the joy of playing SI now
[18:21:09] <wjp> I wonder if our shape reading algorithm could be wrong in some borderline cases
[18:21:20] <Dominus> when I first played that I didnīt know about that stuff but now knowing what could have been makes this really sad
[18:23:27] <Colourless> yeah it is a little sad
[18:23:56] <Colourless> but that's life in the gaming industry
[18:24:34] <Dominus> true and it really fits into the story of U8 and U9
[18:24:51] <Dominus> wonder if there has been some cut off in BG and U6...
[18:26:41] <Colourless> well BG was running late as well. U8 and U9 also did and as known they got cut quite substantially
[18:28:02] <Dominus> thatīs why I was wondering about BG (not that much about u6 - that was still pre-EA time, wasnīt it?)
[18:29:03] <wjp> when did EA buy Origin, btw? during BG?
[18:29:47] <Dominus> donīt know
[18:29:49] <Colourless> after SI from memory.
[18:31:14] --- wjp is now known as wjp|dinner
[18:36:14] --> comat0se has joined #exult
[18:47:21] --- wjp|dinner is now known as wjp
[18:48:56] * wjp notices another line in that 'starless' SI walkthrough
[18:49:06] <wjp> "and the Serpent should begin to sway drunkenly, unless you are using Exult in which case it will have been swaying drunkenly anyway."
[18:49:51] <Dominus> :-)
[18:49:56] <Colourless> not any more. that problem should have been fixed ages ago... by me@
[18:50:08] <wjp> yes, it's working ok for me
[18:52:02] <wjp> btw, did one of you ever find a way to 'legally' get the backpack filled with all the final quest items a few rooms before the endgame?
[18:52:46] <wjp> next to the base of a pillar, completely hidden by a wall
[18:53:10] <wjp> you could see it when you were in one of the side rooms (the one with the button puzzles)
[18:53:35] <Colourless> yeah, dom told me about it, but i've no idea how to actually get there
[18:54:24] <wjp> powderkegs didn't start moving items until U8, right?
[18:54:38] <wjp> s/powderkegs/explosions/
[18:54:54] <Colourless> yeah
[18:56:43] <Dominus> I donīt think you could get to it other than hackmoving it
[18:57:00] <wjp> or hackmoving the walls :-)
[18:57:17] <Dominus> true
[18:57:34] <Dominus> I never even saw it before playing with Exult
[18:57:56] <wjp> kind of strange you can't see it even when you're standing almost on top of it :-)
[18:58:20] <wjp> I noticed it when I originally played SI, but didn't look inside until 15 minutes ago :-)
[18:59:43] <wjp> I have to go for an hour or so
[18:59:44] <wjp> bbl
[18:59:47] --- wjp is now known as wjp|away
[19:26:49] <-- comat0se has left #exult
[20:07:47] --> fingolfin has joined #exult
[20:08:11] <fingolfin> lo
[20:08:32] <Colourless> hi
[20:12:13] <Dominus> hi
[20:41:32] <Colourless> it's about time I departed
[20:41:43] <fingolfin> well
[20:41:52] <fingolfin> at least when you go I want to say "goodbye" :)
[20:41:58] <fingolfin> and that before you actually left :)
[20:42:23] <Colourless> :-()
[20:42:41] <Colourless> sigh. that was supposed to be :-)
[20:42:55] <Colourless> cya
[20:44:23] <-- Colourless has left IRC (Fingolfin in todays winner)
[20:48:11] --- wjp|away is now known as wjp
[20:48:22] <wjp> hi
[20:57:36] <fingolfin> hi
[20:57:42] <fingolfin> you missed ryan by 4 minutes :)
[20:59:02] <wjp> yeah :-)
[21:28:54] <fingolfin> hm, exult just crashed for me when I hit Ctrl-R, hmm
[21:30:05] <wjp> strange
[21:30:09] <wjp> corrupted game?
[21:30:37] <fingolfin> no; and now it works; I am not fully sure if I really pressed Ctrl-R, though, I didn't mean to hit it anyway :)
[21:31:00] <fingolfin> anyway, it seems it freed a pointer that was eitehr not malloced or already freed
[21:34:26] <fingolfin> what is the shortcut for the "read" cheat again?
[21:34:36] <wjp> shortcut?
[21:34:40] * wjp didn't know there was one
[21:35:11] <Dominus> f2, npc flags, special flags (right?)
[21:35:23] <wjp> f2-n-0-n-4
[21:35:57] <wjp> f2-n-0-enter-n-4-x-x-x, to be exact
[21:35:58] <Dominus> ok, i was wrong
[21:36:26] <fingolfin> hm, ok, I somehow thought we had a direct key to it
[21:36:42] <wjp> someone might have added one
[21:36:44] * wjp looks
[21:36:54] <Dominus> (which would be nice to have but Iīm not doing any cheat requests)
[21:37:37] <wjp> the problem with making it a 'real' cheat is that people will expect it stays on even after you use a translate spell/lens
[21:37:58] <wjp> we might add it someday, though
[21:38:09] * wjp is not volunteering :-)
[21:38:18] <Dominus> true, and I somehow like it that people are forced to use the Cheat screen (adds to the originality :-))
[21:39:49] * wjp is thinking about adding mousewheel support to the file gump
[21:41:30] * Dominus thinks that is a good idea, he is always trying to scroll down
[21:41:40] * wjp will implement it then :-)
[21:41:57] <Dominus> and for the slider gump as well?
[21:42:35] <wjp> should the mousewheel scroll in pages or in lines?
[21:42:43] <wjp> (or in half/quarter pages?)
[21:42:56] <Dominus> hmm
[21:43:13] <Dominus> lines maybe
[21:43:15] <fingolfin> lines
[21:43:16] <Dominus> not so sure
[21:43:23] <fingolfin> and Alt+Scrollwheel a page
[21:43:26] <fingolfin> or something like this
[21:43:35] <Dominus> fingolfin: good idea
[21:43:41] <wjp> alt-scrollwheel?
[21:43:44] <wjp> ugh
[21:43:52] <fingolfin> or Cmd-Scroll or Ctrl-Scroll or so
[21:43:57] * wjp passes modifier status to function too :-)
[21:44:39] <Dominus> and how about scrolling the map as well if not in gump mode? :-)
[21:44:50] <wjp> don't push it :-)
[21:44:53] * Dominus notices that he is too wishfull right now
[21:46:32] <Dominus> fingolfin: that movie on Pro7 right now is very funny
[21:46:41] <Dominus> Retroactive
[21:46:48] <Dominus> I saw this once before
[21:50:54] <Dominus> nooothis cannot be
[21:50:56] <Dominus> http://www.111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111.com/
[21:51:18] <wjp> nice URL
[21:51:29] <wjp> hmm, strange site
[21:52:00] <Dominus> it really is
[21:52:24] <Dominus> another url by the Eriadain mastermind (he always finds strange websites)
[21:53:09] <Dominus> and another one http://www.pimphats.com/
[21:54:03] <Dominus> or the http://thewhizzinator.com/
[21:55:03] <Dominus> you can always count on him to provide quality links (mickmils in the dragons newsgroup)
[21:55:50] <wjp> oh right, I remember him posting URLs
[21:56:33] <Dominus> LOL http://www.homepromotions.net/Tehkan/mamesong.swf
[21:57:09] <wjp> wow, mousewheel actually worked the first try :-)
[21:58:45] <Dominus> great
[21:59:48] <wjp> committed; enjoy :-)
[21:59:57] <wjp> now... slider, right? :-)
[21:59:58] <Dominus> uh
[22:00:02] <Dominus> yeah
[22:00:24] <wjp> hmm, I assume you'll have to rotate your mouse 90 degrees for it to work? ;-)
[22:00:45] <Dominus> :-)
[22:01:54] <wjp> oh, nice, slider_gump is modal too
[22:02:10] <wjp> makes it very easy :-)
[22:02:25] <wjp> so... mousewheel_down is left or right?
[22:02:33] <fingolfin> right
[22:02:39] <Dominus> thumbs up - just looked at it very smooth
[22:02:39] <fingolfin> think of writing systems
[22:02:49] <fingolfin> left to right; or top to bottom in the western world
[22:02:51] <wjp> and alt-mousewheel is increments of 10?
[22:03:01] <fingolfin> why not
[22:03:16] * Dominus nods
[22:03:20] <fingolfin> Dominus: ok, I'll switch to Pro7 then :)
[22:03:26] * wjp copy-pastes some code
[22:03:35] <Dominus> donīt bother anymore itīs halfway through now
[22:03:54] <fingolfin> he, it wasnt' ten mins ago= :)
[22:04:03] <Dominus> :-)
[22:04:04] <wjp> short movie :-)
[22:04:41] <Dominus> she goes back in time and has to live through the same stupid scenery over and over again
[22:08:30] <wjp> hmm, something like "Groundhog day" ?
[22:09:07] <Dominus> only that she goes back only 2o minutes
[22:09:48] <Dominus> actually 20 minutes not 2o :-)
[22:09:55] <wjp> :-)
[22:10:10] <wjp> ok... that was the slider too
[22:10:18] <Dominus> nice work
[22:11:34] <wjp> ok, also the map scrolling, right? ;-)
[22:11:41] <Dominus> if you want to
[22:11:48] <Dominus> :-)
[22:11:54] <wjp> mousewheel = up/down, alt-mousewheel = left/right?
[22:12:00] <Dominus> right
[22:15:59] <Dominus> again, very smooth and nice wjp
[22:16:29] <wjp> thanks :-)
[22:16:53] <Dominus> exultīs interface is getting better and better
[22:17:13] <wjp> hmm, this mousewheel-map-scrolling with and without alt down takes some getting used to
[22:17:49] <wjp> the steps are big enough to get disoriented easily :-)
[22:17:58] --- wjp is now known as wjp|away
[22:17:59] <Dominus> cool
[22:18:31] * Dominus is looking forward to another issue of fear and loathing on Serpent Isle
[22:18:55] <wjp|away> oh, I just committed it, btw
[22:18:59] <wjp|away> *gone*
[22:19:05] <Dominus> bye
[22:23:05] <Dominus> looks nice but it definetly needs some getting used to
[22:25:27] <Dominus> thanks
[22:27:49] <Dominus> muß jetzt auch schluß machen
[22:27:52] <Dominus> ciao
[22:28:08] <Dominus> oops, was talking on another channle
[22:28:20] <Dominus> meant, I have to go now, see you
