[14:40:41] <Sentack> Ahhh Okay. Well I just wanted to comment about Pentagram, which I honestly find an interesting project.
[14:41:35] <Darke> Four hours of complete silence earlier two, only broken by a sbx dropping a pin. <grin> Pentagram? Sorry, if I told you anything about something that may or may not be called 'Pentagram', then I'd have to kill you. <grin>

[14:43:17] <Darke> Officially "Pentagram is not Exult". <grin> But yes, it's the somewhat acknoledged project that might do for u8 what exult does for u7, sometime in the future.

[14:44:19] <Sentack> Well I didn't equate Pentagram as Exult. But more of a new "Project" that is designed to do very much like what Exult does. Although I'm curious know with most of the developers bounty of new knowlage and skills, what they will come up with.
[14:45:56] <Darke> Currenly there exists a map viewer, which plays music, IIRC only on win32 at the moment, another viewer which displays shapes, globs, and animation, and the usecode partially decompiled, with a basic decompiler.

[14:47:07] <Sentack> Sounds cool. I was just shocked to see the array of work done from the first time I noticed the project (Which was when it basicly started) to now... Plus some of the talks on the newsgroup indicates that the guys want to take a somewhat new apporach to some of the design of the project.
[14:49:01] <Darke> wjp: Had apparently been doing quite a bit of the work before he even committed it to cvs. Most of the stuff currently in it is realtively... 'basic' so to speak. <grin>
[14:50:11] <Sentack> <nods> Well I wish I had my U8 data files here at the office, I might try to build what exists and see if I can just get the shape browser to work. Although you say it only works for win32 atm? Mmm I'm on a Solaris/Sparc box. Won't work?
[14:50:41] <Sentack> I remember someone makeing a shape browser in Basic some time ago. But that's about it.
[14:50:44] <Darke> The music only works for win32. Everything else works on both Linux and win32.
[14:51:08] <Sentack> Okay I don't care about music. If I can build the project without music, I'll be fine for sure.

[15:00:41] <wjp> minor problem: the original U8 came with a compressed u8shapes.flx, and we haven't written a decompression tool for it yet

[15:01:41] <Sentack> I believe the CD has it all uncompressed. A actually I have Both cd's.. Well a re-release edition (Without the pentagram ont he box) And the UC Cd from U9.

[15:03:54] <Sentack> I don't know if it was "worth" it but when I first got it, No cd drive. then when I got a cd drive. The cd was dirt cheep. and fell into the category of "So If I want to play it again, but the floppies die" Experience.. Then low and behold I get it once again. with U9.

[15:06:46] <Sentack> I think I had that problem with Exult. Your 8 byte copy routine didn't fly on Solaris. Ever try it?
