[00:09:40] <-- Fingolfin has left IRC ("42")
[00:46:20] --- sbx|sleep is now known as sbx
[00:56:52] --> Kharza-kzad has joined #exult
[00:59:29] <sbx> wb
[01:24:40] <Kharza-kzad> gday :D
[03:24:41] <-- Kharza-kzad has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[05:20:43] --> syke has joined #exult
[05:20:45] <syke> hi :)
[05:21:16] <sbx> hi
[05:21:29] <sbx> :)
[05:32:00] <syke> how's the testing going?
[05:32:16] <sbx> Exult beta testing?
[05:32:29] --> Darke has joined #exult
[05:32:29] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Darke
[05:32:43] * Darke bows, "Hi!"
[05:32:54] <syke> there was talk on the mailing list of playing the games all the way through
[05:33:24] <sbx> Oh
[05:33:30] <sbx> That wasn't me but I also plan on doing that.
[05:33:35] * sbx greets Darke.
[05:34:05] <syke> ok
[05:34:33] <syke> I haven't been paying attention to the CVS checkins -- did any of the purify bugs get fixed?
[05:35:11] <sbx> i haven't either :)
[05:35:19] <sbx> im only subscribed on the discussion list
[05:35:47] <Darke> Not sure. I remember someone mentioning that he was fixing/had fixed some of them. I don't remember a specific note in the ChangeLog though.
[05:46:28] <syke> ok
[05:46:45] <syke> I'll rerun purify or insure++ and mail the list again if I notice anything truly heinous
[05:53:23] <Darke> No problem. Incidentally, now that I remember it, I've got a full copy of an 'older' version of the entire Rational Suite kicking around here somewhere, it's the '99 version I think. Other then purify, is there much use running anything else from that suite over the code? I've just never used it before. <grin>
[06:00:52] <syke> maybe quantify to help track down performance bottle necks
[06:01:41] <syke> we've used that a few times in FreeSCI, but it didn't help too much
[06:02:56] <syke> helped identify places we were malloc/free'ing in tight loops and things like that
[06:03:22] <syke> you can actually download the latest purify from rational's ftp site
[06:03:52] <syke> you can bypass the flexlm licensing crap by setting an environment variable PURIFY_PRODUCT_KEY
[06:03:56] <syke> with some appropriate values
[06:12:41] * Darke nods.
[06:14:13] <Darke> That could be useful. I know this is a completely legit 'boxed set', so I suppose there is a product key or something inside it for it. I haven't even opened it yet, my boss was just getting rid of it. <grin>
[06:51:14] <syke> you can download the entire suites from the ftp site
[06:51:29] <syke> a little searching will find you a "universal" license file for all the products
[06:51:45] <syke> note: the 2001 license keys work for the 2002 products
[06:51:48] <syke> I'm off to bed now
[06:51:50] <syke> nite!
[06:51:55] --- syke is now known as syke|sleep
[06:51:58] * Darke nods. "Thanks! Night!"
[07:27:55] --> Kirben has joined #exult
[07:27:55] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Kirben
[07:28:08] <sbx> Hi Kirben.
[07:28:11] <Kirben> Hi
[07:33:23] * Darke bows, "Hi."
[07:41:59] <Darke> Ok. Unless someone is upgrading/messing with forum. It looks like it's chewed up it's database again.
[07:45:23] <sbx> NOOOOoooo
[07:45:44] * sbx cries.
[07:45:51] <sbx> Maybe it was backed up somewhere this time?
[07:45:54] <sbx> the recent messages
[07:45:56] * Darke wonders what sbx is reaction so... strongly about.
[07:46:07] <Darke> Yes. wjp is doing the occasional backups IIRC.
[07:46:07] <sbx> i like reading the forum each day
[07:46:17] <sbx> hope so :-)
[07:51:30] * Darke hopes wjp's backups are in a Non-Good state. Lack of a Spark's Ass thread can only be a Good Thing. <grin>
[07:56:49] --> Kirben2 has joined #exult
[07:56:50] <-- Kirben has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[07:58:41] <sbx> some of the topics work
[08:02:32] <sbx> The message you requested could not be found. For assistance contact
[08:02:36] <sbx> :-)
[08:17:15] * Darke can't even get to exult.sf.net. It's been down on his end for the last 15 minutes.
[08:18:35] <sbx> <_>
[08:18:38] <sbx> >_<
[08:18:43] <sbx> :-|
[08:54:49] --> Kirben has joined #exult
[08:54:49] <-- Kirben2 has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[09:04:55] <Darke> Wow. I can _actually_ get to exult.sf.net now. But the forum is still b0rk3n. <grin>
[09:06:54] <sbx> b0rk
[09:30:51] <sbx> Now it really looks dead.
[09:31:16] <sbx> Is MySQL just buggy?
[09:39:25] <Darke> No. I'm pretty sure it's the forum script itself that's doing something silly.
[09:51:10] --> Wumpus has joined #exult
[09:51:32] * Wumpus lies down and dozes in the corner
[09:55:21] <Darke> Hello. <grin> Expecting another... dull night?
[09:55:34] <Wumpus> no, just not in a paticularly enthusiastic mood
[09:58:41] <Darke> Ahh.
[09:59:16] <sbx> Hi. What's wrong?
[09:59:45] <Wumpus> oh, nothing paticularly wrong :P just been getting vaguely irritated with parents a little :|
[10:00:21] <Wumpus> has anyone used gtkmm?
[10:02:47] <sbx> I havn't.
[10:05:12] <Darke> Not me.
[10:12:52] <Wumpus> how about just gtk?
[10:13:26] * Wumpus is fiddling with it... i like it so far, but the fake-OO bugs me, hence the interest in gtkmm (being a real OO interface to it, (C++))
[10:14:32] * Darke hasn't played with gtk either.
[10:15:21] <sbx> I used it a little because it was C, but I've forgotten it completely. :-)
[10:15:29] <Wumpus> hehe fair enough :)
[11:43:46] --> Kirben2 has joined #exult
[11:44:42] <-- Kirben has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[12:02:32] --> Kirben has joined #exult
[12:02:33] <-- Kirben2 has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[12:48:12] --> Colourless has joined #Exult
[12:48:18] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Colourless
[12:48:49] * Colourless is here, but not for too long
[12:52:06] <Darke> Hello. <bow> Not much happening anyway. <grin>
[12:53:16] <Wumpus> yay
[12:53:41] <Darke> Other then, that exult/audio/Audio.cc is rather b0rk3n under linux anyway. Complaining that 'max' and 'min' are undeclared, yet I can't locate exactly _why_.
[12:53:42] * Wumpus has the beginnings of a GUI for two of his mini-projects
[12:53:52] <Darke> Cool.
[12:54:47] <Colourless> well, you said that 'L' word, so it's no interest to me :-)
[12:55:12] <Wumpus> it shows a tree of the files (well actually, thats hard coded at the moment, but extending it to the real thing is fairly straightforwad from here...), and for some of the graphics files, it shows the picture (Which is also a little seedy, since it laods pre-converted files, but again, i know the conversion process, so its only a bit of rewriting of the code for that which needs doing
[12:55:22] <Darke> Colourless: Ordinarily yes, but...
[12:55:24] <Darke> * audio/Audio.cc : Handle voc chunk type '5' as a text message. Also
[12:55:24] <Darke> added 4bit ADPCM VOC decompression for the SI intro thunder SFX.
[12:55:24] <Darke> Code obtained from VDMS.
[12:55:27] <Wumpus> it even cleans up after itself when the pictures are un-loaded
[12:55:31] <Wumpus> (i think...)
[12:55:56] <Colourless> well, what is the problem?
[12:56:32] <Darke> It can't locate the 'functions' max() and min(), lines 962 and 964.
[12:56:47] --> Kirben2 has joined #exult
[12:57:13] <-- Kirben has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[12:57:14] <Colourless> try std::
[12:58:17] <Wumpus> this *is* #compsoc... if someone weren't bullshitting, we know that its time to start worrying
[12:58:24] <Wumpus> umm
[12:58:28] <Wumpus> no its not :P
[12:58:38] <Wumpus> dammit, i'd been doing well relatively recently :P
[12:58:49] <Wumpus> or relatively well, recently :)
[12:59:02] <Darke> Colourless: Thanks. That seems to solve the problem. It usually gives me a different error for that. <grin>
[12:59:22] * Darke grins at Wumpus. Sure you have.
[12:59:54] <Wumpus> only on account of not saying much ;-p
[13:00:14] <Colourless> so, it wasn't a linux problem as such, more of a compiling using 2 non standards complient compilers to test to see if things work :-)
[13:00:14] <Darke> Wumpus: There is that problem/benefit. <grin>
[13:01:11] <Darke> Colourless: I'm thinking it's more of a compiling using a standards compliant compiler that may be the problem. <grin> Perhaps I should downgrade...
[13:02:25] * Darke _would_ like to know why though, that it didn't give him his usual error, that stays `It's a std:: problem!`, rather it gave him a generic `this thing isn't defined` problem.
[13:02:30] <Colourless> well, if you did, you'd probably have few problems :-)
[13:03:21] <Darke> Well, if I downgraded to 2.95.3, at least I wouldn't break code under win32/mingw and have to debug under windows. <grin>
[13:06:24] * Darke realises why. Dumb bunny.
[13:06:39] <Colourless> why?
[13:07:17] <Darke> Just a sec, I need to break my code to check. <grin>
[13:07:58] <Colourless> hmmm
[13:08:57] <Darke> The reason is, I'm used to getting errors for types, such as vector or string not being defined. I've just never gotten an error for a function not being defined before. Where as the 'type not defined' error, screams 'std:: me!', the function one doesn't. <grin>
[13:09:37] <Darke> And of course, the first thing I think of, is someone has forgotten to #include a file. Which is something I do regularly...
[13:10:17] <Colourless> well, it's easy for me. i have most of the regularly used stuff included in my pch
[13:11:07] * Darke nods.
[13:17:07] <Wumpus> sleep for me, good night all
[13:17:10] <-- Wumpus has left IRC ("No windows for this server")
[13:17:11] <Darke> Night!
[13:19:28] <Colourless> got to go now

[18:00:10] <foody> LOL guys I couldn't help but laugh at the comments you placed in exult
[18:00:13] <foody> it was soo helarious...
[18:02:18] <foody> Hey guys..a question though?
[18:02:29] <foody> Those nifty screenshots in the webpage are they available in exult?
