[09:49:23] <Dominus> so, wjp, any thoughts on the SF screw up? Ido like them for historical reasons and likely no one has really time to move us elsewhere, not to mention that I dislike most other trackers (githubs issues can look nice but are lacking, imo, I do like to have different trackers for bubs, feature requests and patches...)
[09:49:29] <Dominus> bugs even
[09:52:55] <Dominus> the whole Gimp debacle seems to me like SF succumbs to easy money grab schemes
[09:53:24] <Dominus> a shame since they provided us with a great platform for 1 ½ decades...
[09:56:16] <Dominus> and I feel for their people, like the #sourceforge support guy, that get hit by the backlash first....
[09:56:21] <Kirben> Adware has been optional for SF projects for long time now, not that surprising for it to be added to abandoned projects.
[09:57:12] <Dominus> yes, not that surprising but still disappointing
[09:57:47] <Dominus> http://sourceforge.net/blog/advertising-bundling-community-and-criticism/ "This is a 100% opt-in program for the developer, and we want to reassure you that we will NEVER bundle offers with any project without the developers consent."
[10:00:09] <Kirben> The problem seems more what to do with abandoned project in this case.
[10:02:20] <Dominus> one could argue that since it was abandoned and sf1-editor became owner, he greenlighted the adware, so it is keeping their promise :)
[10:02:48] <Dominus> I'm torn, it just looks so shady...
[10:07:02] <Kirben> Yes, I hate adware, especially when it is sneakly added. Not so clear with abandoned projects though, but they really should make any policy like this clear.

[20:33:18] <Lightkey> uhm.. first, the project was not abandoned, they just moved away from SF and no attempt was made to contact the GIMP team beforehand, that was the controversy, combined with the lack of a deletion mechanism for projects
