[13:47:31] <Colourless> hi
[13:57:33] <wjp> hi
[14:02:29] <Colourless> whoa! 10 minutes today
[14:07:09] --> Darke has joined #exult
[14:07:10] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Darke
[14:08:32] <Colourless> strange, is *it* here, or is it away
[14:12:50] <Darke> 'It' really hasn't been here the last couple of weeks. Hopefully stupidity will remove itself from my surreality a bit, so I can actually catch up on the last two weeks of $(stuff) I've almost completely missed. *grin*
[14:13:28] * Darke returns to his self-appointed task of annoyingly poking exultbot. *poke*
[14:15:00] * exultbot dodges poke
[14:15:27] <exultbot> (2 minutes late, but who's counting :-) )
[14:15:38] * Darke is! *poke!*
[14:15:53] * exultbot pokes back! *poke* *poke*
[14:15:56] <Colourless> :-)
[14:16:02] * Darke yipyelps!
[14:16:06] <Darke> Hey! That's not fair!
[14:16:35] <Colourless> it's the all new agressive exultbot
[14:16:39] * Darke eyes exultbot suspiciously, wondering if he's a poke`bot.
[14:17:02] <Darke> Who added the automated self-defense subsystems to him?
[14:17:32] <Colourless> hey, only one of us has access to it's internals
[14:23:33] * Darke wonders why half these services he's disabling on his fresh windows install are ever turned on by default in the first place. Take for instance the Remote Registry service. Why exactly is this turned on by default?!?
[14:25:37] <Colourless> let me guess... you are installing WinXP/Win2K Professional
[14:25:54] <Darke> Yup.
[14:26:23] <Colourless> you see, that feature is potentially useful in a professional environment :-)
[14:26:37] <Colourless> useless in a home environment
[14:27:24] <Darke> I can't think of the last time I wanted, let alone needed to access somecomputer's registry remotely from another computer, even at work. If I'm going to screw around with that stuff, I'll write a quick program to screw around with it locally and have it installed/run by sms. *grin*
[14:28:14] <Colourless> note i said "potentially useful"
[14:30:42] <Darke> Then there's 'Telephony', which is apparently used to support telephone devices (modems?) and ip voice based connections. No particular reason to have it turned on... except of course if you turn it off it takes out your 'Remote Access Connection Manger', which apparently handles network connections and stuff, which is like, useful, whereas Telephony, like, isn't. *blink*
[14:31:28] <Colourless> you shouldn't require telephony for remote access
[14:31:36] <Colourless> s/remote access/network access/
[14:32:01] <Colourless> I've got Telephony disabled here
[14:32:30] <Colourless> RACM is to connect to remote private networks
[14:33:12] <Darke> Ahh. VPNs and such?
[14:33:15] <Colourless> yes
[14:33:58] <Darke> Well I can't disable telephony, unless I take out RACM, it's claiming. And I can't shut down RACM, since it terminates without returning an error code, or somesuch error. *grin*
[14:34:12] <Colourless> just note this, you disable telephony you may not even be able to install a modem :-)
[14:34:31] <Colourless> sometimes processes have strange dependancies
[14:34:43] <Colourless> you can sometimes set a process to "manual", restart and then disable it
[14:34:54] <Colourless> s/process/service/
[14:35:12] <Darke> I have this neat thing called an ADSL firewall/router/modem, which handles all my telephonic needs. *grin*
[14:35:15] * Colourless for some reasons is getting 'process' from somewhere unknown
[14:35:46] * Darke suggests cutting down on your high-in-process breakfast cerial. That might help.
[14:38:13] * Darke doesn't know where he got that from. He's as puzzled as you are.

[22:49:08] <WishStone> Wanna see my newly pulled wisdom tooth? :P
[22:50:12] <WishStone> It was a nice one to pull, looking back on it... and looking at it's roots right now... they are grown togetherm so they look like one big solid root... we had no problems at all plugging it out ;D
[22:52:15] <wjp> by 'time' I meant 'afternoon till late evening', btw :-)
[22:52:23] <WishStone> ooooh, okay ;D
[22:52:29] * wjp peeks at wisdom tooth
[22:53:06] <WishStone> I get so angry at looking at it though :\
[22:53:19] <wjp> you do?
[22:53:31] <WishStone> It's nearly fully rotten >:[ My old dentist kept saying "Lets wait some more, lets wait before removing them"
[22:53:52] <WishStone> The way this tooth looks like, it has been rotting for at least 4-6 YEARS my current dentist says :\
[22:54:22] <WishStone> ...*glances at it* yeeech, and that THING was in my mouth *brrr*
