[05:04:23] --> Matt_O has joined #exult
[05:19:43] <Darke> Meh? Just got back from voting. What's up?
[05:30:47] <Cahaan> voting for what?
[05:48:08] <-- Matt_O has left IRC ("Client exiting")
[05:59:56] <Darke> State elections.
[06:01:44] <Cahaan> USA ?
[06:08:16] <Darke> AU
[06:09:12] <Cahaan> WHO DID YOU vote for ?
[06:11:49] <Darke> Politicians unfortunately.
[06:13:56] <Cahaan> right wing or left wing ?
[06:14:39] <Cahaan> (or wingless gargoyles ?)
[06:14:59] <Darke> Umm... I dunno. I don't go by wings or caucauces or whatever-you-have-it. I just pick whichever one is going to stuff the country around the least. That seems to work fine for me.
[06:16:46] <Cahaan> what do you mean by "stuff the country around the least" ?
[06:24:06] <Darke> Well, both parties have policies that will screw things up. I just pick the party that is attempting to screw things up less then the others.
[06:27:36] <Cahaan> oh okay I get it. wise choice
[06:45:16] <-- Kirben has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))

[15:34:08] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Fingolfin
[15:35:46] <wjp> hi Fingolfin
[15:36:06] <Fingolfin> hi
[15:36:37] <Darke> 'ello.
[15:36:46] <Colourless> hi
[15:37:26] <Fingolfin> hi
[15:38:51] * Darke wonders if he should say 'ello again, just to keep the pattern going. *grin*
[15:40:22] <wjp> too late, you just broke the it anyway :-)
[15:40:44] <Fingolfin> <g>
[15:43:17] <Darke> Darn!
[15:58:08] <wjp> hm, we seem to be missing a palette-rotating-sequence in BG
[15:58:19] <wjp> the Juggernaut Hammer isn't 'flashing'
[15:59:55] <wjp> looks like it might be 252-254
[16:02:15] <Colourless> i'm pretty sure that at 'some' time during the past i speculated that 252-254 should rotate too
[16:04:04] <wjp> looks like you were right :-)
[16:05:01] <wjp> I just hope it needs to be rotated in SI too :-)
[16:05:01] <wjp> the SI palette is the same there as in BG, anyway
[16:13:44] <-- Dark-Star has left IRC ()
[16:17:59] --> Dark-Star has joined #exult
[16:56:00] --> Matt_O has joined #exult
[17:58:42] <-- Kirben has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[18:13:26] --> Dominus has joined #exult
[18:13:29] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Dominus
[18:13:55] <Dominus> hey ho
[18:13:59] <Dominus> you know I really *need* that RTFM t-shirt
[18:14:09] * Dominus switches rant on
[18:14:44] <wjp> uh oh :-)
[18:14:47] <Dominus> I posted in a German forum that Dosbox 0.61 is released and a quick and dirty summary of what it is
[18:14:59] <Dominus> also wrote that it is imperative to read the readme
[18:15:46] <Dominus> mr.X asks: "I'm typing C: and D: but it can't find my hard drives".
[18:15:54] <Dominus> Me: read the readme
[18:16:05] <Dominus> x: I did can't understand it
[18:16:22] <Colourless> you 'could' have been nice and said at the prompt do "mount C: c:\" unless you actually did
[18:16:33] <Colourless> and the user was too stupid
[18:16:48] <Dominus> I then gave a summary about mounting, and explained how he could automaount in the dosbox.conf
[18:17:30] <Dominus> he only asked once more how to enter \ and I told him that this is indeed a problem and he should use /
[18:17:40] <Dominus> then cam the breaking point:
[18:18:51] <Dominus> "Whenever I go to this games dir and type winpod.exe I get an error "this is a Windows 95 executable" and the game won't start
[18:19:01] <Dominus> "what do I do wrong?"
[18:20:20] <Dominus> I was a little speechless after that
[18:22:10] * Dominus switches rant off
[18:25:26] <Colourless> so what operating system was this user using
[18:26:50] <Dominus> It is mainly a Windows user/gamer forum. I bet he was using windows (and he was talking about his dir for games in d:\spiele -> sounds like windows user)
[18:27:40] <Colourless> so why would he try running a windows game in dos
[18:36:35] <Dominus> I *think* Pod (or whatever it is) doesn't work correctly in XP
[18:36:41] <Dominus> could be that it is a glide game
[18:37:26] <Dominus> and he thought it must be a dos game then
[18:39:16] <Dominus> mybe it was because in my introduction I wrote "Dosbox is a Dos-Emulator that makes it possible to play old Dos games on modern Operating Systems. Especially in Windows NT/2000/XP many games don'T work..."
[18:39:32] <Dominus> in my 2nd system I didn't write Dos-games but just games...
[18:39:59] <Dominus> didn't think someone could loose the context in between a dot...
[18:41:03] * Dominus has to cook dinner now...
[18:41:09] <Dominus> *sigh*
[19:13:39] --- Dominus is now known as Dominus|away
[19:13:42] <Fingolfin> hehe
[19:13:57] <Fingolfin> I think people are actually very good at loosing context at any point
[19:14:08] <Fingolfin> or, actually, are good at never understanding the context in the first place =)
[20:02:06] <-- Fingolfin has left IRC ("42")
[20:10:21] <Colourless> time to go
[20:10:27] <-- Colourless has left IRC ("casts invisibility")
[20:11:07] --- Dominus|away is now known as Dominus
[21:31:28] <-- Dominus has left IRC ("a pooka invited me to Charlie's")
