[08:14:40] <servus> Linking errors in MSVC7 for freopen and setbuf :(
[08:15:16] <servus> I didn't even add calls to those functions, so... can I not take blame the sln file?:)
[08:20:00] <Colourless> i havent updated in a while
[08:20:36] <servus> I'm using an "old" CVS get... 1.4.1 CVS I think? I'm not too familiar with how to configure MSVC7's linker.
[08:21:50] <servus> Any suggestions? I'm perplexed by it only dying on those two files. The MSDN says that MSVC imports those functions in libc.lib, but including libc.lib in the linker wreaks havoc. :)
[08:22:22] <Colourless> oh no... dont make it import stuff like that
[08:22:48] <Colourless> libc or one of the many variations are automatically included by the linker
[08:23:10] <Colourless> we dont use libc anyway... need libcmt (multithreaded)
[08:23:30] <Colourless> i'll fix up cvs solutions
[08:24:31] <servus> Then what's going on? I am attempting to use the 1.4.01CVS
[08:25:17] <Colourless> what do you mean what's going on?
[08:25:54] <servus> How do I fix it? What do you mean to do to fix it yourself? :)
[08:26:14] <Colourless> no idea what the problem is
[08:29:15] <servus> http://sourcepost.sytes.net/sourceview.aspx?source_id=17308 here's the error log.
[08:29:24] <servus> I already tried /nodefaultlib:"libcmt.lib" , as it suggests.
[08:29:54] <servus> So I reckon it's using the lib that libcmt is supposed to replace -- libc, but ignoring libc causes problems:)
[08:29:58] <servus> Oh well, I'll play with it...
[08:30:19] <Colourless> wait for me to find the problem first before you mess with the delicate balance that i had
[08:30:36] <servus> Hehe. I have a backup sln
[08:35:23] <Colourless> you are going to hate this... i already have the problem fixed locally
[08:36:17] <Colourless> i'll send you the solutions i'm using
[08:36:25] <servus> Thanks.
[08:36:35] <servus> Know what you changed?
[08:36:37] <Colourless> i 'think' the problem may be zlib...
[08:36:42] <Colourless> but i have no idea
[08:38:06] <servus> I'm completely inexperienced with MSVC7's linker dialog.
[08:38:16] <Colourless> you really don't want to touch things there :-)
[08:38:21] <servus> I can't find any of the things from the MSVC6 dialog, such as setting single/multithreaded capability, etc.
[08:38:26] <servus> It's yech.
[08:39:32] <Colourless> that stuff is in C++\Code Generation
[08:40:59] <servus> We are using different MSVC versions, by the way.
[08:41:04] <sbx> wow the camera still goofy
[08:41:25] <servus> Yeah, sbx, but it has all the intrinsic functionality it needs -- it just needs a proper interface now :)
[08:41:35] <Colourless> you using 2003?
[08:41:48] <servus> Yes.
[08:41:58] <Colourless> i'm not
[08:42:09] <sbx> I like the wider view
[08:42:41] <servus> I changed that MSVC kludge to check for (_MSC_VER&1300)==1300
[08:42:48] <servus> sbx, does it slow down when you zoom way out?
[08:42:52] <servus> Curious about your speed.
[08:43:19] <servus> BTW I can't find "Code Generation" in my copy, Colourless. That's what I was looking for (From MSVC6)
[08:43:19] <Colourless> exults msvc kludge needs updating...
[08:43:29] <sbx> yes
[08:43:47] <sbx> but I still like using that view
[08:43:58] <Colourless> strange
[08:44:02] <servus> What view, sbx?
[08:44:10] <servus> Colourless, There is no C++ section at all.
[08:44:18] <servus> Same linking error :-(
[08:44:39] <sbx> zoomed out
[08:44:46] <servus> I don't understand why it'd barf on just two exports...
[08:44:48] <Colourless> paste the linking error
[08:44:57] <servus> I did.
[08:44:59] <sbx> rotated slightly
[08:45:01] <servus> http://sourcepost.sytes.net/sourceview.aspx?source_id=17308
[08:45:51] <Colourless> in the linker page add the following
[08:45:55] <servus> I wish it would say which files it generated these errors in... checks for a verbose error message option.
[08:45:57] <servus> OK
[08:45:59] <Colourless> ignore lib
[08:46:27] <Colourless> msvcrt.lib;msvcrtd.lib;libc.lib;libcd.lib
[08:47:16] <servus> Tried that
[08:47:27] <servus> I'm working under "Debug" right now.
[08:47:41] <Colourless> ok lets see
[08:47:44] <servus> Tried that, several combinations, and msvcrt.lib;msvcrtd.lib;libc.lib;libcmt.lib
[08:47:44] * Colourless tries it
[08:47:51] <servus> You have 2003?
[08:47:53] <Colourless> no
[08:48:05] <servus> OK, finished compiling in "Release" mode./
[08:48:20] <servus> You're going to love this... I got a *new* unresolved export... you'll love which one it is.
[08:48:30] <servus> freopen, _setbuf, and... fprintf:)
[08:48:54] <Colourless> it's because of one of the import libs...
[08:48:57] <Colourless> i'm guessing zlib
[08:49:34] <servus> Perhaps. Can I disable zipping? *checks the makefiles*
[08:50:09] <Colourless> i'll send you my compiled lib that i use
[08:50:52] <servus> OK, thanks. Who do we blame?
[08:51:32] <servus> You know, I already had a zlib_libcmt.lib in my xchat downloads directory of the exact same size... I think I'm already using yours:)
[08:51:39] <Colourless> oh ok
[08:51:48] <Colourless> i have no idea what the problem is
[08:51:55] <servus> OK I'll keep noodling around with it
[08:52:01] <servus> Tell you when I get it to link.
[08:52:06] <Colourless> could be sdlmain
[08:52:10] <Colourless> yes... that would be it
[08:52:17] <servus> ?
[08:52:23] <servus> No fprintf? :)
[08:53:02] <Colourless> sdlmain for windows does all sorts of things
[08:53:16] <Colourless> and those functions sound like the ones it would use i'm guessing
[08:55:04] <servus> Hey hey it works.
[08:55:08] <servus> Thanks. It was SDLMain.lib
[08:56:39] <servus> It didn't honour my request to define HAVE_OPENGL though.
[08:57:36] <Colourless> HAVE_OPENGL should work when defined in msvc_kludges...
[08:57:44] <servus> OK.
[08:57:49] <servus> I was using the linker menu.
[08:58:03] <servus> Silly MSVC2003:)
[09:05:06] <servus> Heh, Segfault:)
[09:08:18] <Colourless> segfault doing what?
[09:08:55] <servus> Segfaulting, of course:). A #ifdef HAVE_OPENGL meant I skipped a pointer assignment:)
[09:09:31] <servus> Works now.
[09:09:49] <servus> Sloooooooooooow in debug mode.
[09:10:05] <servus> Why are we using MSVC7 again? Spam spam spam humbug.
[09:12:29] <sbx> serpent manimal

[18:03:06] <sbx> only died once, by falling into a trap (that I knew about) because I was paying attention to something offscreen :p
