[04:46:02] <-- jschall has left IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[05:06:50] <-- barraAway has left IRC (Quit: Verlassend)
[05:07:05] <tomprince> Earlier, edheldil was suggesting that the tracker should be where all the bugs live, I was wondering we should migrate to something simpler?
[07:54:16] --> Bo_Thomsen has joined #GemRb

[08:21:30] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to lynxlynxlynx

[10:23:19] --> barra_home has joined #GemRb
[10:26:55] <fuzzie> tomprince: if you have suggestions..
[10:34:03] <tomprince> Nothing definite. we were discussing github the other day.
[10:34:51] <tomprince> The fact that it isn't featureful is probablaly not an hinderance for what we need. Perhaps even useful.
[10:42:32] <tomprince> Mostly I didn't want edheldil's comment to get lost in the discussion.
[10:44:58] <tomprince> I think for gemrb, the main critera should be easy of use ... seeing as we don't bother to use the one we have, since it is somewhat of a hassle.
[11:52:18] <lynxlynxlynx> so what do you find so lacking to warrant a change at all?
[12:24:28] --> Bo_Thomsen has joined #GemRb
[12:25:25] <-- Bo_Thomsen has left IRC (Client Quit)
[12:40:38] --- barra_home is now known as barraAway
[14:26:03] <tomprince> The SF tracker is enough of hassle to use, that we don't use it.
[14:29:06] <fuzzie> i think more important than which tracker, is what would you put in it?
[14:30:40] <tomprince> True.
[14:30:45] <fuzzie> the example from the edheldil discussion earlier is an actual clearly-defined not-multi-component, but i'm not convinced we have so many of those
[14:31:12] <tomprince> Although I don't have an answer to it.
[14:35:31] --- barraAway is now known as barra_home
[14:37:04] <tomprince> I guess mostly I was wondering how much the feeling that at tracker isn't useful for gemrb stems from the fact that the *SF* tracker isn't useful.
[15:20:46] --- barra_home is now known as barraAway
[15:44:46] <lynxlynxlynx> it's useful, it just isn't practical
[15:44:56] <lynxlynxlynx> so we use the wiki instead
[16:08:50] --> barra_away has joined #GemRb

[16:37:05] <-- barra_away has left IRC (Quit: Verlassend)
[17:22:30] <tomprince> Then I would say it isn't useful *to us* in practice.
[17:22:41] <tomprince> I was thinking there might be something that gets us the best of both.
[18:26:00] --> barra_home has joined #GemRb
[20:23:38] --> edheldil_ has joined #GemRb
[20:51:42] --> thySEus has joined #GemRb
[20:53:16] <thySEus> hi; i have just successfully compiled and configured gemrb-0.6.3-git to run with the german Version of Baldurs Gate 2. Now, after loading a savegame, the scenery is rendered in fullscreen mode and the ui elements are not visible. The 'h' key doesn't toggle this like in the original client. Any advices?
[20:54:12] <lynxlynxlynx> kill it
[20:54:39] <lynxlynxlynx> something went wrong in the gui code, so also check the log for the python error (traceback)
[20:55:06] <thySEus> ok, where can i find the log? (i compiled without debug info)
[20:55:08] <lynxlynxlynx> if you don't want to use fullscreen mode, you can disable it in the config
[20:55:16] <lynxlynxlynx> the log is printed to stdout
[20:55:45] <thySEus> hmm indeed, there are a lot of messages about the UI...
[20:56:04] <lynxlynxlynx> Fullscreen=0 in the config
[20:56:18] <lynxlynxlynx> if that doesn't work, there's an extra step, but i think it's not needed anymore
[20:56:25] <thySEus> wait, i give it a try
[20:58:46] <thySEus> Fullscreen=0 in the config did not work, but i was able to get the game to windowed Mode in the options screen. The UI elements are still missing.
[20:59:53] <thySEus> but - it says SyntaxError: 'break' outside loop in the logfile
[21:00:06] <thySEus> maybe git HEAD is broken ?
[21:01:41] <thySEus> or what is that extra step you've mentioned?
[21:10:53] <lynxlynxlynx> ok
[21:11:11] <lynxlynxlynx> you'll also need to turn fullscreen of in baldur.ini in the game dir
[21:11:24] <lynxlynxlynx> we don't save the options yet
[21:11:36] <lynxlynxlynx> can you show me more of the backtrace?
[21:11:44] <lynxlynxlynx> what are you loading?
[21:12:10] <lynxlynxlynx> nevermind, i get it too
[21:12:48] <lynxlynxlynx> it was the last commit that broke it
[21:16:11] <thySEus> are you a "core" developer of gemrb?
[21:17:17] <lynxlynxlynx> sure
[21:18:06] <thySEus> i want to say that, except for this small flaw, gemrb seems to run really nice. it loads faster, the fonts are nicer and everything feels more responsive compared to bg2 running with wine on the same machine!
[21:18:28] <thySEus> so, congratulations for this great software :)
[21:18:31] <lynxlynxlynx> thanks
[21:18:52] <lynxlynxlynx> it has a long road ahead to be pure awesome though
[21:20:25] <thySEus> is it right that the hardest thing is to reverse engineer the existing engine ?
[21:21:25] <lynxlynxlynx> yes and keeping compatibility with multiple versions, even with some broken design choices
[21:21:52] --> Avenger has joined #GemRb
[21:21:52] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Avenger

[21:22:13] <lynxlynxlynx> well, i got beat to it :)
[21:22:50] <thySEus> i give it a try right now
[21:27:40] <CIA-5> GemRB: 03avenger_teambg * r1d337b0e9904 10gemrb/gemrb/GUIScripts/bg1/GUIREC.py: synced bg1 sound customisation

[21:33:57] --- barra_home is now known as barraAway
[21:37:51] <thySEus> nice. it works now !
[21:38:25] <thySEus> let me ask you two questions: 1.) is network play over TCP/IP implemented/planned? 2.) What's the UI enhancements between gemrb and vanilla BGMain.exe ?
[21:43:01] <Avenger> i still work on the sound stuff, so it may break temporarily
[21:43:44] <thySEus> if i wouldn't be a lousy php novice programmer i would contribute to gemrb ;) but i doubt my skills would be enough
[21:44:58] <Avenger> the guiscripts are easy with a little practice
[21:45:19] <Avenger> and there is documentation for them
[21:50:44] <thySEus> i can start by being a good beta-tester, i plan to play through bg2 again, anyway ;)
[21:51:42] <thySEus> i have two concerns: at first, when selecting my characters, all 6 character voices are played simultanously. maybe you already are on this at the moment... and second: Viconia is starting one dialogue after the other with my main character.. this isn't intended isnt it?
[21:52:23] <Avenger> yeah, the romance stuff seems to ignore wait times
[21:52:50] <Avenger> that is a broken script action: RealGlobalTimerExpired
[21:52:52] <thySEus> so i can click through the whole romance ?
[21:53:08] <Avenger> i don't know there may be other conditions
[21:53:39] <thySEus> i only have read that there are two times in the inf engine... ZReal and ZIngame or something, can't remember ;)
[21:55:02] <thySEus> do you guys have a bug tracker ?
[21:57:09] <Avenger> yes, on sourceforge
