[10:54:45] <Avenger> hi
[11:03:07] <wjp> hi
[12:17:30] --> Timmmm has joined #gemrb
[12:17:59] <Timmmm> Hi, I'm trying to get baldur's gate 1 to run on the android port of gemrb. But logcat says it can't find gemrb.ini.
[12:18:49] <Timmmm> All I did was copy the full install of BG1 to /sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb (or whatever) (by the way, please move that to /sdcard/Android/data like the Android docs say you should.
[12:19:29] <Timmmm> And then I edited gemrb.cfg & set the game type to 'bg'. I didn't edit anything else, and the CD paths don't actually exist... Hmm.
[12:19:32] <Timmmm> Any ideas?
[12:23:09] <fuzzie> set the game type to 'bg1'? :p
[12:23:16] <fuzzie> but android port isn't an official port
[12:23:48] <fuzzie> and no-one in here knows any more about it than what's on the forum afaik
[12:24:21] <Timmmm> Hmm interesting.
[12:24:36] <Timmmm> Actually I think I did use 'bg1'.
[12:24:39] <fuzzie> and i'm pretty sure the official data directory gets deleted on uninstall
[12:25:21] <Timmmm> fuzzie: I'm a bit confused about the CD directories. The full game install only has a 'data' directory. The CDs have CD*/data directories. Which do I need?
[12:25:43] <fuzzie> you don't have to set the CD directories unless you need them
[12:25:57] <Timmmm> fuzzie: Ah, so if I did a full install it is ok.
[12:26:19] <Timmmm> fuzzie: And do I include the 'cd1' part of the CD path? I.e. d:\cd1 instead of d:\
[12:26:31] <fuzzie> but gemrb.ini is part of gemrb's own data, so as long as you set GameType to something valid, it should really pick it up
[12:26:41] <Timmmm> hmm let me check
[12:27:00] <fuzzie> If you're manually specifying CD paths, you have to include the 'CD1' bit.
[12:27:26] <Timmmm> Oops I did forget the 1. :-(
[12:27:45] <Timmmm> It works!!! :-D
[12:28:18] <fuzzie> I guess that error message should maybe ask if your GameData is correct..
[12:28:21] <Timmmm> fuzzie: Thanks!
[12:28:22] <fuzzie> erm, GameType.
[12:28:29] <Timmmm> yeah that'd be good
[12:29:34] <Timmmm> Ha, weird. I loaded a saved game and my characters all die for no reason!
[12:29:39] <Timmmm> Like they are poisoned.
[12:31:25] <Timmmm> Or possibly there are off-screen monsters.
[12:36:24] <Avenger> odd saved game :)
[12:36:56] <Avenger> were they hurt to 1-2 hitpoints?
[13:13:19] <Timmmm> Avenger: No they died. And yeah I don't remember saving in the middle of a fight (and I thought you can't...). Must be a bug I guess.
[13:44:23] <lynxlynxlynx> you still can save
[13:44:44] <lynxlynxlynx> it rarely causes problems, but vastly eases development
[13:56:47] --> barra_home has joined #gemrb
[14:12:52] <Timmmm> The save game I was loading was saved using the official engine...
[14:18:01] <-- lynxlynxlynx has left IRC (Remote host closed the connection)
[15:06:39] <Avenger> so this weirdness happened in gemrb when you loaded an original save. I'm still curious what was the cause of their death. GemRB used to miscalculate the con bonus, for example, so when your chars are hurt, the missing con bonus can kill them

[18:55:56] <-- test32894789234u has left #gemrb
[19:52:51] <Timmmm> Avenger: Sorry I didn't say: there were indeed monsters off-screen. But I'm still fairly sure they weren't meant to be there (i.e. they weren't there when I saved in BG proper).
