[01:35:56] --> skyphen has joined #gemrb
[02:12:14] <skyphen> Hey all
[02:12:29] <skyphen> Whats up with github not showing latest commits?
[02:14:34] <-- Maighstir has left IRC (Quit: .)
[02:16:11] <skyphen> I see commits over a month old but when I pull the repo i can see more commits
[02:21:25] <skyphen> something to do with it being mirrored from sourceforge im guessing
[02:24:22] <skyphen> heh, my fork shows the right commits for the repo on the website
[02:38:49] <-- |Cable| has left IRC (Ping timeout: 248 seconds)
[02:51:31] --> |Cable| has joined #gemrb
[02:55:10] <skyphen> is anyone here building on OSX 10.8.3?
[03:45:14] <-- skyphen has left #gemrb
[03:45:18] --> skyphen has joined #gemrb
[03:47:13] <-- edheldil has left IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[04:11:57] --> brada has joined #gemrb
[04:12:03] <brada> skyphen: yes, why?
[04:38:57] <skyphen> brada: im geting some errors trying to compile master branch
[04:39:09] <brada> errors?
[04:39:14] <brada> or warning?
[04:39:41] <skyphen> error
[04:39:46] <brada> what error?
[04:39:53] <skyphen> i fixed the error
[04:39:58] <brada> what error?
[04:40:01] <skyphen> but still having issues with my environment
[04:40:17] <skyphen> deprecated method filename in the cocoawrapper
[04:41:01] <brada> that is not an error that is a warning
[04:41:13] <brada> and it is there because this needs to work under mac os x 10.5
[04:41:52] <skyphen> yeah i dont know much about OSX development so i "upgraded" the method
[04:42:07] <skyphen> how do i compile against 10.5?
[04:42:58] <brada> you dont need to since you are building for yourself
[04:43:21] <brada> but the xcode project is setup to build against 10.5
[04:43:40] <brada> (you can use that if you like, you dont have to use cmake on mac)
[04:43:51] <skyphen> ive never used xcodee
[04:43:57] <skyphen> i did open the project tho
[04:44:58] <brada> so what problem can i help you with?
[04:47:50] <skyphen> Nothing for now I guess
[04:49:25] <brada> ok let me know if you need any
[04:50:30] <skyphen> thanks, and thanks for this awesome project

[10:56:02] --> Yoshimo has joined #gemrb
[10:59:02] --> fizzle has joined #gemrb
[11:14:55] <fizzle> I'd like to bounce a few thoughts off of somebody
[11:15:16] <fizzle> there's an awful lot of effects right now that should vanish on death but don't
[11:15:34] <fizzle> I see two angles of attack in the code at the moment
[11:15:47] <-- WingedHussar has left IRC (Ping timeout: 255 seconds)
[11:15:58] <fizzle> 1) a comment in CheckOnDeath that says "remove effects here", but no code
[11:16:30] <fizzle> 2) a few effects handle it themselves (e.g. shieldglobe) and don't apply if the target is dead
[11:16:41] --> WingedHussar has joined #gemrb
[11:17:03] <fizzle> which is kind of half-assed because while the overlay goes away the display_string stays...
[11:17:30] <fizzle> now, the obvious question is: why is there no code to remove events to go with the comment in CheckOnDeath?
[11:17:33] <fuzzie> they should mostly be removed on death.
[11:17:39] <fuzzie> by the effects themselves.
[11:18:29] <fizzle> why not do it globally (in ApplyEffect, say) so you don't have to touch all the effects individually?
[11:18:43] <fuzzie> well, you can do that too
[11:18:50] <fuzzie> add a flag or something
[11:19:30] <fizzle> according to the comment in CheckOnDeath the decision should be based on timing?
[11:19:33] <fuzzie> no
[11:19:42] <fuzzie> per-effect.
[11:20:38] <fuzzie> which is why we didn't make it work yet.
[11:21:27] <fuzzie> i forget the details, i argued about this a few times with people
[11:21:30] <fuzzie> let me see if I can find my notes
[11:22:28] <fuzzie> it always drove me mad because the shield globes would stick around on the actors when leaving the bg2 dungeon, which I expect is why Avenger added that bit to shieldglobe in particular :P
[11:23:13] <fizzle> :)
[11:29:02] <fuzzie> my notes are sort of spectacularly uninformative
[11:36:54] <fuzzie> hmph. maybe worth badgering Avenger about it.
[11:38:05] <fizzle> he doesn't seem to be here often, lately
[11:38:31] <fuzzie> not on forums either?
[11:39:03] <fizzle> that's where I'm not around much :)
[11:52:17] <fizzle> btw, anything new on the clock or tamah?
