[14:45:17] <HumanG33k> edheldil, i want to remove useless files from my directories
[14:47:30] <HumanG33k> i install the game through wine and move directory in /usr/… i want to know if i can remove files from it.
[14:53:51] <edheldil> Depends on what files you mean. Generally, you need chitin.key, dialog(f).tlk, *.ini, override/*, data/*, sound/*, music/* ....
[14:54:03] <edheldil> and there are others, depending on the specific game
[14:54:39] <edheldil> I doubt you will save much by deleting he exe and some stray windows files
[14:59:01] <-- GeneralDuke has left IRC (Quit: GeneralDuke)
[15:04:32] <HumanG33k> i know but it’s just to have a clean directory, i want to create a .deb for my personnal repo
[15:10:40] <edheldil> personal deb of the game itself?
[15:10:48] --> SinisterRectus has joined #gemrb
[15:11:25] <mcphail> HumanG33k: does the debian game-data-packager produce a clean enough directory for you?
[15:12:17] <edheldil> mcphail: debian game-data-packager ? What's that?
[15:14:15] <mcphail> edheldil: https://wiki.debian.org/Games/GameDataPackager
[15:14:29] <mcphail> edheldil: just a neat way to get game files in the right place
[15:14:51] <mcphail> edheldil: works for gemrb, iirc
[15:15:35] <mcphail> I'm not sure if it discards the unneeded files HumanG33k is worried about
[15:16:16] <HumanG33k> i do package by my own, i will try and diff results
[15:17:46] <HumanG33k> maybe i can improve GameDataPackager if it needed
[15:19:30] <HumanG33k> i try to do that this week end if i can
[15:19:35] <mcphail> HumanG33k: yes. Looks like a simple yaml file for what it pulls out - https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-games/game-data-packager.git/tree/data/baldurs-gate-1.yaml
[15:21:15] <edheldil> mcphail: nice did not know about it
[15:21:27] <HumanG33k> it’s look like it does what i want to do
[15:22:08] <edheldil> I wonder if it works on the CDs as well, not just gog/steam
[15:22:12] <mcphail> edheldil: beyond simple curiosity, i don't actually use it myself. I prefer to keep things under $HOME
[15:23:02] <HumanG33k> mcphail, it’s because now most of computer are single user
[15:23:56] <HumanG33k> but in my case it’s more effecient to use /usr
[15:24:25] <HumanG33k> the default conf save game in your home ?
[15:25:06] <HumanG33k> the one store in /etc/gemrb
[15:25:35] <mcphail> Saves games certainly don't go under /etc witht he debian package
[15:27:08] <HumanG33k> SavePath=~/.local/share/planescape-torment/
[15:27:14] <mcphail> IIRC, I think they automatically go under $XDG_DATA_HOME
[15:28:42] <HumanG33k> so if more than 1 person use the computer it’s make more sense to have game data in /usr
[15:29:08] <HumanG33k> i need to go but thx for all
[16:39:24] <-- HumanG33k has left IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)

[18:20:20] <lynxlynxlynx> yeah, simple thing to add, but annoying to handle the migration, if we want to be perfect
