[10:13:42] <lynxlynxlynx> nah, red herring
[10:15:28] <pupnik> there was a red herring artifact in starflight, and i didnt know what a red herring was, so i looked for its usage for a long time
[10:16:05] <fuzzie> pupnik: ack :)
[10:16:30] <lynxlynxlynx> hehe
[10:17:54] <lynxlynxlynx> well, the item *is* undroppable, but it is not problematic the way i originally thought
[10:18:20] <fuzzie> i looked at that codepath yesterday and it seemed like the flag should be ok
[10:18:21] <lynxlynxlynx> i can't see how the check in Inventory::FindItem can ever work for undroppable items
[10:18:39] <fuzzie> it doesn't
[10:18:48] <fuzzie> there's another similar one elsewhere in Inventory, also broken
[10:19:38] <fuzzie> i was going to add a 'bool checkflags = true' parameter, but i didn't get very far trying to ask Avenger why the existing code is how it is
[10:20:08] <fuzzie> if you look back in svn, then it made sense back then :p
[10:20:27] <lynxlynxlynx> i see it is from 2005
[10:20:39] <fuzzie> so maybe it should just be reverted to ye olde check with a comment
[10:21:59] <fuzzie> it's the same problem which leads to the failure to remove the portal key
[10:22:20] <fuzzie> although for that, it's the one in RemoveItem
[10:22:36] <lynxlynxlynx> two birds, one stone
[10:36:07] <lynxlynxlynx> in the case of FindItem, there doesn't seem to be much use of the flags field, as it is always called with 0
[10:38:30] <lynxlynxlynx> the forums are still down
[10:39:34] <fuzzie> the idea is that you call it with the undroppable flag when you want to find undroppable items
[10:39:42] <fuzzie> as far as i could tell, that's what it was previously in svn?
[10:39:55] <fuzzie> so you'd need to fix the test and fix the callers, i guess
[10:42:09] <lynxlynxlynx> but there's three choices, in the case of this action we want both kinds of items
[10:42:44] <lynxlynxlynx> maybe -1 for all
[10:43:18] <fuzzie> i mean
[10:43:25] <fuzzie> the "only undroppable" choice is unnecessary, right?
[10:44:03] <lynxlynxlynx> that's a safe assumption, since it doesn't work now :)
[10:44:30] <fuzzie> so you only need two choices, and that's how it was before Avenger fiddled, i thought
[10:45:00] <lynxlynxlynx> before the function had another parameter movable
[10:45:25] <fuzzie> oh, maybe only RemoveItem ever worked properly, then
[10:47:26] <lynxlynxlynx> http://pastebin.com/d72fc000 <-- ok?
[10:48:37] <lynxlynxlynx> nah
[10:51:02] <fuzzie> - if ( (flags&(item->Flags^(IE_INV_ITEM_UNDROPPABLE|IE_INV_ITEM_EQUIPPED) ) )==flags) {
[10:51:06] <fuzzie> + if ( ((flags^(IE_INV_ITEM_UNDROPPABLE|IE_INV_ITEM_EQUIPPED))&item->Flags)!=flags) {
[10:51:13] <fuzzie> ^- this was the change i was thinking about, i guess, in r5125
[10:52:01] <fuzzie> but that one isn't going to work either
[10:52:55] <fuzzie> well, it works in the sense that flags==0 gives you all items, and flags==UNDROPPABLE gives you only droppable items?
[10:57:41] <lynxlynxlynx> seems so
[10:58:08] <fuzzie> sorry, i thought it was more helpful
[10:58:32] <lynxlynxlynx> it is, it looks like it would work fine
[11:00:01] <lynxlynxlynx> just that we need the third option heh
[11:00:19] <lynxlynxlynx> or maybe not
[11:00:31] <fuzzie> i don't see why we'd ever need it
[11:13:05] <lynxlynxlynx> small progress
[11:14:12] <lynxlynxlynx> i'm using a different check, since flags==0 was bad up there and now the playdead effects show up
[11:14:37] <lynxlynxlynx> so the equipping of trollde now works, but unequip still doesn't
[11:22:32] <lynxlynxlynx> ah, but that is not due to finditem :)
[11:28:04] <lynxlynxlynx> the item does not have the IE_INV_ITEM_MOVABLE flag set, so Inventory::UnEquipItem bails out
[11:50:29] <CIA-22> gemrb: 03lynxlupodian * r7256 10/gemrb/trunk/gemrb/plugins/Core/ (Actions.cpp Inventory.cpp): conservatively fixed Inventory::FindItem vs undroppable items

[14:30:27] <CIA-22> gemrb: 03lynxlupodian * r7257 10/gemrb/trunk/gemrb/plugins/Core/GameControl.cpp: made ctrl-y more deadly - trolls and magic golems beware
[14:55:00] <raevol> :>
[15:09:42] <CIA-22> gemrb: 03lynxlupodian * r7258 10/gemrb/trunk/gemrb/GUIScripts/ (bg1/GUIREC.py bg2/GUIREC.py iwd/GUIREC.py iwd2/GUIREC.py): fixed guirec kill stats display; bad ordering caused invalid values
[15:10:22] <CIA-22> gemrb: 03lynxlupodian * r7259 10/gemrb/trunk/NEWS: NEWS bump
[15:17:05] <lynxlynxlynx> raevol: still here?
[15:19:53] <CIA-22> gemrb: 03lynxlupodian * r7260 10/gemrb/trunk/gemrb/GUIScripts/ (bg1/GUIJRNL.py iwd/GUIJRNL.py iwd2/GUIJRNL.py): fixed journal opening to show the current chapter
[15:29:09] <raevol> hey, yes
[15:29:18] <raevol> sorry was reading, missed the message
[15:33:26] <lynxlynxlynx> how far have you come in bg1?
[15:35:29] <raevol> not too far, i'm to nashkell but haven't gone in the mines yet
[15:37:01] <lynxlynxlynx> ah
[15:41:06] <raevol> i was trying to get dynaheir but i kept dieing to random encounters
[15:41:46] <lynxlynxlynx> ctrl-y ;)
[15:42:09] <raevol> yea didn't know about that, i'll have to try it now hehe
[15:50:56] <raevol> is there a cheat to get more gold?
[15:51:29] <lynxlynxlynx> sure
[15:51:46] <lynxlynxlynx> http://linux.prinas.si/gemrb/doku.php?id=guiscript:gamesetpartygold
[15:51:56] <raevol> cool that'll help too
[16:17:52] <raevol> level 8 and 5 million gold
[16:17:57] <raevol> sounds like a good start
[16:18:22] <raevol> hmm, do paladins ever get level 2 or above spells?
[16:18:55] <lynxlynxlynx> i think it depends on their wisdom
[16:19:00] <raevol> 18?
[16:19:09] <raevol> think wisdom just gives bonus spells?
[16:19:25] <raevol> i wish i still had the manual for this game, it was truly amazing
[16:19:46] <lynxlynxlynx> i have it, plus the pdf is bound to be available somewhere
[16:20:01] <lynxlynxlynx> the wisdom bonus only applies to attained levels
[16:20:51] <raevol> aah ok
[16:29:38] <raevol> hmm, are paladins supposed to be wearing robes?
[16:35:09] <-- jcompton_ has left IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
[16:37:35] --> jcompton has joined #gemrb
[16:39:02] <lynxlynxlynx> wearing robes?
[16:39:19] <raevol> yea i thought paladins used the fighter model
[16:39:24] <lynxlynxlynx> i bet you mean you think you see robes, but it is actually the cloak
[16:39:26] <raevol> character i just created appears to use the mage model
[16:39:38] <raevol> or supposed to use the cleric one
[16:39:47] <raevol> but this has robes and a cape when i have armor on
[16:40:17] <lynxlynxlynx> do you have anything else equipped?
[16:40:40] <raevol> shield sword and helmet, but i was in a robe with only a staff
[16:42:29] <lynxlynxlynx> a bit odd, but i'm not familiar with how it was in the original
[16:43:52] <raevol> i'm pretty sure paladins used the figher or cleric model
[16:54:57] <raevol> k i have to remove imoen from my party, with short bow+1 she just snipes everything on the map
[16:54:58] <raevol> lol
[16:55:16] <fuzzie> turning off ai doesn't help?
[16:55:26] <raevol> how would i turn it off?
[16:55:34] <fuzzie> one of the buttons on the bottom-right
[16:55:38] <raevol> that is off
[16:55:49] <fuzzie> huh
[16:56:00] <raevol> should i try turning it "on"?
[16:56:11] <fuzzie> maaaybe
[16:56:56] <raevol> yea that fixed it
[16:57:00] <raevol> :x
[16:59:31] <raevol> it's known that dropping items on character portraits is bugged right? they get given to the character below the one clicked?
[16:59:46] <fuzzie> heh, no
[16:59:59] <raevol> ah k, should i make a note of it?
[16:59:59] <fuzzie> code sync failure i guess
[17:00:35] --> jcompton_ has joined #gemrb
[17:01:47] <raevol> i figured out how to set all my player stats to 25
[17:01:50] <raevol> weeee!
[17:02:52] --> Avenger has joined #gemrb
[17:02:55] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Avenger
[17:03:11] <Avenger> hi
[17:05:48] <raevol> hello
[17:12:27] <-- jcompton has left IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
[17:13:30] <Avenger> so Equipitem works even if an item is not movable
[17:14:01] <fuzzie> i think most actions do
[17:15:05] <Avenger> ctrl-y twice on a troll kills it, for me :)
[17:15:09] <Avenger> i will upload my changes
[17:15:23] <lynxlynxlynx> iwd trolls?
[17:15:26] <Avenger> sure
[17:15:29] <lynxlynxlynx> cool
[17:15:31] <Avenger> br
[17:15:33] <Avenger> b
[17:15:36] <-- Avenger has left IRC ("ChatZilla 0.9.85 [Firefox 3.5.3/20090824101458]")
[17:15:57] <lynxlynxlynx> this area has so many trolls it is wierd, so it wasn't viable to continue playing
[17:22:27] <fuzzie> spwan issues again?
[17:22:51] <raevol> amish soldiers clearing out the nashkell mines for me because of the sight bug
[17:25:24] <lynxlynxlynx> i doubt it, i just find it wierd that there are trolls in dragon's eye
[17:25:35] <lynxlynxlynx> first level was all lizardmen, this one is mixed
[17:25:59] --> Avenger has joined #gemrb
[17:26:01] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Avenger
[17:26:17] <CIA-22> gemrb: 03avenger_teambg * r7261 10/gemrb/trunk/gemrb/plugins/Core/Actions.cpp: fixed EquipItem finally
[17:27:20] <Avenger> try now?
[17:28:53] <raevol> disarm trap seems a bit dodgy is this known?
[17:29:16] <Avenger> what exacly you mean? That you tend to walk into the trap?
[17:29:35] <raevol> well that too, but i disarmed some traps earlier, and now it seems to have stopped working
[17:29:56] <raevol> i click the trap but nothing happens
[17:30:10] <raevol> thiving cursor stays up until i do something else, trap stays there
[17:31:16] <fuzzie> for some reason gemrb sets the trap position to the middle of the trap, which is sometimes unreachable
[17:31:32] <fuzzie> i don't pretend to understand what the ARE loader is doing there
[17:33:38] <lynxlynxlynx> Avenger: i can confirm it works
[17:36:47] <raevol> i've now left the nashkell mines and am still getting messages about the fight the soldiers down there are having with the kobolds :/
[17:37:49] <lynxlynxlynx> maybe it is a subarea or you just think it is happening down there or maybe it is something completely different
[17:39:58] <fuzzie> hm
[17:40:04] <fuzzie> that is maybe my fault
[17:40:29] <fuzzie> for following into other areas to work, i think areas only get deactivated if they have no actions left
[17:40:50] <fuzzie> although i don't remember changing the area unloading code, you'd think that would handle it
[17:41:26] <raevol> i think that's how it's supposed to work, with things still occuring after you've left the area
[17:41:43] <raevol> the problem is just the soldiers can see the whole map, so they are hunting down every enemy on it
[17:41:47] <fuzzie> hm, no, i guess i didn't change it, that's how it was
[17:42:11] <Avenger> the visibility problem is still there, yeah
[17:42:31] <raevol> can only purchase healing in temples for the leader of the party, is this known?
[17:43:42] <Avenger> no
[17:43:54] <Avenger> most likely just a guiscript problem
[17:44:03] <Avenger> what about drinking in pubs :)
[17:44:11] <raevol> haha i'll try that next
[17:48:08] <raevol> hmm maybe with 25 constitution i can't get drunk?
[17:49:42] <raevol> yea dunno... but the character record button icon displays as the map icon when talking to this innkeeper
[17:54:37] <raevol> alright, gotta find food, later guys
