[16:36:04] <brada> i see there is a new release :)
[16:36:39] <brada> time to merge what ive been working on?
[16:46:25] <fuzzie> yes!
[16:46:47] <lynxlynxlynx> can you first fix scrolling please?
[16:47:06] <lynxlynxlynx> messagewindow
[17:54:10] <Driim> I know this is not the official place for bugs, but I found an UI issue I'd like to share
[17:57:02] <Driim> (in iwd) When leaving an area, and being presented with the world map, pressing the area map button the world map is moved a little towards the lower left corner. If you press it again (might need two presses) it moves a little more, and this can be done until you can't choose anything on the world map.
[18:10:56] <lynxlynxlynx> so don't do it :)ž
[18:22:02] <brada> lynx: its been awhile. remind me what is wrong with scrolling
[18:26:23] <lynxlynxlynx> it flickered last i tried it
[18:26:39] <lynxlynxlynx> scrolling the iwd2 message window makes it flicker <-- this is what i left as a note
[18:34:47] <brada> ah, so this is iwd2 only then?
[18:35:57] <brada> probably a simple fix then. i see iwd2 has its on MessageWindow.py so probably just need to update that
[18:52:05] <lynxlynxlynx> i don't remember
[18:52:55] <brada> it must be or it is something that happened in master since it most certainly wasnt doing that in BG2 last i checked
[18:53:10] <brada> unless its a specific issue with opengl driver i suppose
[18:59:13] <brada> speaking of MessageWindow.py… what is up with all the functions in there that have (seemingly) nothing to do with the message window?
[19:04:23] <lynxlynxlynx> it's the first thing that runs
[19:06:40] <brada> i see… wonder if something broke then when i moved that to run later
[19:07:16] <brada> if so we need to separate that stuff out. (which is probably a good idea anyway)
[19:09:29] <brada> that may very well be why the flickerin in iwd2 is occuring. i see a few things that may not be ready when this runs
[19:09:30] <lynxlynxlynx> one thing at a time please
[19:10:28] <brada> but i really think it could be related to the flickering...
[19:10:44] <brada> now that this runs later it could be clobbering something etc
[19:11:15] <brada> the portrait window variable for example
[19:15:56] <brada> there is also a bunch of initialization in the OnLoad function that maybe isnt getting run soon enough
[19:20:41] <lynxlynxlynx> iwd2 doesn't have a separate portraitwindow, so the var is set to a dummy value
[19:20:58] <lynxlynxlynx> it's similar to pst in that regard
[19:23:35] <lynxlynxlynx> so what i'm asking is to start with a minimal fix, not a rewrite
[19:27:53] <brada> sure, i just suspect the minimal fix may be moving some of the initialization to another script. i havent looked into anything; pure speculation at this point.
[19:31:47] <lynxlynxlynx> nothing stands out, it's similar to bg1
[19:32:24] <lynxlynxlynx> bg2 has trice the loc due to expansion handling
[19:33:40] <lynxlynxlynx> oh and what runs before messagewindow now? Sounds odd oO
[19:35:27] --> Eli2_ has joined #gemrb
[19:36:21] <-- Eli2 has left IRC (Ping timeout: 265 seconds)
[19:49:08] <brada> im being silly anyway, I move messagewindow to load *sooner* not later. sort of the same potential issue with that i guess.
[19:51:35] <lynxlynxlynx> should be visible in other games then
[19:52:56] <brada> he he guess well find out. i dont know what else it could be if it only affects IWD2.
[19:54:04] <brada> afik the c++ side doesnt have any game flag checks or anything that would affect only 1 game
[19:54:34] <brada> of course i havent tested anything since merging master last so i guess something in master maybe borked it
[19:54:34] <lynxlynxlynx> but you don't know if only one game is affected
[19:55:05] <brada> unless im completely misunderstanding the problem it surely didnt do it in BG2
[20:53:44] <edheldil> brada: could not there be a problem with window sizes? iirc a 1pixel gap between windows could cause flickering, because the window did not shrink viewport size. But I guess this has been fixed ages ago
[20:55:08] <brada> ed: really not sure. i havent attempted to even reproduce yet.
[21:10:23] <brada> lynx: i cant reproduce a flicker (afict anyway) in either IWD2 nor BG2
[21:10:41] <brada> so video driver maybe?
[21:10:53] <lynxlynxlynx> make sure you have a lot of content
[21:11:14] <brada> oh? that matters?
[21:11:56] <brada> with BG2 i had more than the TA allows
[21:12:17] <brada> it starts truncating at around 100 lines or so
[21:14:13] <lynxlynxlynx> well i saw it in iwd2, so test there foremost
[21:14:40] <brada> will do
