[05:55:35] <raevol> anyone around?
[05:55:55] <lynxlynxlynx> just woke up
[05:55:57] <lynxlynxlynx> oj
[05:56:02] <raevol> good morning!
[05:56:09] <raevol> was looking for: https://github.com/Exactus29/build_install_script_for_gemrb
[05:56:17] <raevol> been a while since i played with grmrb
[05:56:20] <raevol> gemrb*
[05:58:23] <lynxlynxlynx> https://github.com/wild-cat/build_install_script_for_gemrb <-- this maybe?

[06:01:09] --> mrugiero has joined #gemrb
[06:01:26] <raevol> running :D
[06:02:36] <raevol> so i've switched from full time to part time at my job, and am going back to school in June
[06:02:56] <raevol> so i might have some time to work on your website before school starts if you guys are looking for that help stil
[06:10:57] <mrugiero> Hi, sorry for the lack of news on porting DLTCEP to Qt. I've been procrastinating kind of everything from school to code, to telling you I've been procrastinating it, so I thought I should come in and talk about that.
[06:11:37] <mrugiero> As I said, I'm pretty delayed with school also, so I don't think I'll code until at least next summer (in the southern hemisphere), which would be around late December.
[06:12:27] <mrugiero> If it's of any use, I might try to polish a bit the few things I worked with and commit it to a github repo in a few weeks, after the first exams in college.
[06:26:39] <lynxlynxlynx> hey
[06:26:43] <lynxlynxlynx> sure, load it up
[06:26:58] <lynxlynxlynx> sometimes other people are interested and perhaps someone else will pick it up
[06:27:21] <lynxlynxlynx> we've all been on the slow track here
[06:27:43] <lynxlynxlynx> raevol: thanks, I think the site is fine now
[06:27:51] <raevol> ok cool :)
[06:28:01] <raevol> have you guys thought about using the github issue tracker?
[06:28:14] <lynxlynxlynx> hopefully i'll fix the two regressions today and make a new release
[06:28:27] <lynxlynxlynx> thought and discarded ;)
[06:28:34] <raevol> haha why discarded :p
[06:28:55] <lynxlynxlynx> it's basic
[06:29:22] <lynxlynxlynx> the sf tracker has its proponents, but in the end it's mostly me cleaning it up
[06:30:14] <lynxlynxlynx> experience with bugzilla, tracker, redmine ... just made us appreciate simplicity more
[06:30:39] <lynxlynxlynx> the wiki works great for the kind of issues we have, except perhaps the bit where you can't upload non-pics
[06:31:17] <raevol> i see i see
[06:31:20] <raevol> makes sense
[06:33:37] <lynxlynxlynx> do you guys have holidays today too?
[06:46:46] <mrugiero> Yes, I do.
[06:47:17] <mrugiero> Spent it cleaning up my sister's bedroom, though, so I wouldn't call it a holiday :p
[06:48:17] <lynxlynxlynx> :)
[06:54:35] <mrugiero> So, how's everything?
[06:54:53] <mrugiero> It's been a long while since I talked with you.
[06:57:20] <lynxlynxlynx> drowning in work, but it's about to get better with the 12th of may
[06:58:19] <lynxlynxlynx> it's similar with brad, so gemrb changed little since january
[06:58:42] <raevol> in the USA here, no holidays :(
[06:58:54] <lynxlynxlynx> vacation soon :)
[07:07:37] <mrugiero> What happens 12th of may? Is it another holiday, or some kind of deadline with your work?
[07:09:41] <lynxlynxlynx> it's a sunday, but the day before that we have an international event
[07:10:02] <lynxlynxlynx> after that i'm free to only work on 10 things again :)
[07:10:28] <raevol> hahaha
[07:10:37] <raevol> where do you work lynx? if you can say?
[07:10:43] <lynxlynxlynx> an ngo
[07:10:57] <lynxlynxlynx> so 10 is no biggie and i like diversity anyway
[07:11:15] <lynxlynxlynx> i'll get 3 minions the next day for two weeks too :)
[07:11:27] <raevol> hehehe nice :)
[07:11:38] <mrugiero> Hehehe.
[07:11:53] <raevol> i'm going back to school for computer science, so maybe someday i can contribute code to gemrb :D
[07:12:10] <raevol> how long should gemrb take to compile? i feel like this thing has been sitting here forever
[07:12:35] <raevol> ah i ctrol+c'ed and it continued...
[07:13:05] <lynxlynxlynx> you'll probably need to run make again, unless it's a plugin
[07:13:21] <mrugiero> That's strange. Ctrl+C stops the current task.
[07:14:07] <lynxlynxlynx> but on the topic of contribution, knowing cs is not a prerequisite; it's an annoying notion that doesn't go away :<
[07:14:42] <raevol> ok now i got this error
[07:14:42] <raevol> http://paste.ubuntu.com/7377938/
[07:14:43] <Seniorita> Ubuntu Pastebin
[07:15:11] <raevol> well i am confident in my python, but you don't want me touching your compiled stuff until i learn pointers, haha
[07:15:19] <lynxlynxlynx> so it wasn't even compiling yet?
[07:16:34] <lynxlynxlynx> i think we even have a **** in the sprite code somewhere >>
[07:16:48] <lynxlynxlynx> but back to the bisect
[07:17:16] <raevol> i'm on ubuntu 12.04, could i be missing the right python version?
[07:17:40] <raevol> i mean 14.04
[07:19:33] <raevol> ugh this script is just not working :(
[07:19:49] <lynxlynxlynx> possible, yeah
[07:19:57] <lynxlynxlynx> probably python3 is the default
[07:20:26] <mrugiero> Try installing 2.7
[07:20:51] <mrugiero> It doesn't come as default, I just checked (I'm on Xubuntu 14.04).
[07:21:04] <lynxlynxlynx> ... and it's not only my fault :) fuzzie: seems how has dialogpause too
[07:22:33] <mrugiero> Are there any plans to eventually (as we are all lacking the time, I mean in the long term) port it to Python 3?
[07:24:10] <raevol> :( i have 2.7... tried installing python-libs
[07:24:16] <raevol> err python2.7-libs
[07:24:17] <raevol> sigh
[07:24:22] <raevol> i just don't know
[07:24:54] <lynxlynxlynx> mrugiero: eventually
[07:25:17] <lynxlynxlynx> most of our python would be handled by 2to3
[07:25:36] <lynxlynxlynx> the blocker is low python3 adoption and we want to keep our exotic platforms supported
[07:25:48] <mrugiero> What is that? Some kind of automated porting tool?
[07:26:05] <lynxlynxlynx> yes, for the simple cases; comes with python itself
[07:26:25] <mrugiero> Well, that came to my mind too, otherwise I guess the answer was a definite yes.
[07:30:43] <raevol> trying this manually
[07:35:04] --> edheldil has joined #gemrb
[07:35:04] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to edheldil
[07:36:28] <raevol> looks like i was still missing all of the dependencies... installed python-dev and now it complains about sdl, installing libsdl-dev, will check more
[07:36:49] <raevol> thought the script got the dependencies, silly me...
[07:37:49] <edheldil> raevol: Hi. What script?
[07:38:32] <raevol> https://github.com/wild-cat/build_install_script_for_gemrb

[07:38:35] <Seniorita> »build_install_script_for_gemrb - gemrb compile and install script«
[07:39:36] <lynxlynxlynx> did you tell it to?
[07:40:11] <raevol> i thought so, did it with -p
[07:45:45] <lynxlynxlynx> bad script then, i doubt the package names changed since
[07:47:06] <raevol> do i need either openAL or sdl_mixer, or do i need both?
[07:51:13] <lynxlynxlynx> either
[07:51:25] <raevol> ok i'll remove openal
[07:52:32] <raevol> hmm a big one i was missing was the build-essential package
[07:52:35] <raevol> sounds important :p
[07:54:10] <raevol> didn't like me removing openal
[07:54:47] <mrugiero> Crucial.
[07:55:24] <raevol> ok build completes but i have no binary
[07:55:51] <raevol> wait maybe this is it in the build dir, instead of my /usr/local... i guess i wasn't running as sudo so makes sense
[07:57:04] <lynxlynxlynx> if you have to choose, the openal plugin is better than the sdl_mixer one
[07:57:21] <raevol> i need a config file
[07:59:41] <raevol> is there somewhere i might find one of those?
[08:00:37] <lynxlynxlynx> there are two templates in the source
[08:01:08] <lynxlynxlynx> if you won't be installing gemrb, use the noinstall sample ...
[08:01:20] <raevol> i am looking for them :( any tips where they are?
[08:01:37] <lynxlynxlynx> gemrb/
[08:01:51] <raevol> ah ok
[08:02:01] <lynxlynxlynx> you have none left from before?
[08:02:13] <raevol> yea i think i removed it
[08:04:56] <raevol> i could have sworn i saved my bg1 resources though... shoot...
[08:05:16] <raevol> ah here it is
[08:10:08] * edheldil crosses his fingers and hold breath in anticipation
[08:10:13] <edheldil> and?????
[08:11:03] <raevol> ok now it can't find gemrb.ini
[08:11:07] <raevol> got past a lot of other steps
[08:11:15] <raevol> i don't see where i configure that
[08:12:35] <edheldil> under GemRBPath
[08:13:27] <raevol> do i need to put a gemrb.ini in that path?
[08:13:31] <edheldil> e.g. GemRBPath=../gemrb
[08:13:32] <edheldil> no
[08:13:46] <raevol> GemRBPath=/home/raevol/Development/gemrb/build/gemrb/
[08:14:02] <edheldil> it should be there from installation
[08:14:19] <raevol> well i compiled it?
[08:14:40] <raevol> did i need to make install or something?
[08:14:50] <edheldil> no. But
[08:15:21] <edheldil> usually, you have st. like ~/gemrb/build/....
[08:15:36] <edheldil> then you cd to build/
[08:16:04] <edheldil> and run gemrb/gemrb -c GemRB-myprecioussss.cfg
[08:16:15] <edheldil> which refers to GemRBPath=../gemrb
[08:16:56] <edheldil> ergo, gemrb.ini is used from ~/gemrb/gemrb/unhardcoded/<GAMETYPE>
[08:16:58] <raevol> i have a gemrb.cfg
[08:17:24] <edheldil> does not matterjust run it ./gemrb/gemrb, then
[08:18:14] <raevol> edheldil: http://paste.ubuntu.com/7378185/
[08:18:16] <Seniorita> Ubuntu Pastebin
[08:18:44] <Seniorita> [commit] lynxlynxlynx: d9896f3bb56 was detrimental to iwd/how, so make it more finegrained https://github.com/gemrb/gemrb/commit/5895c14af0a1d3a92e268042fa8a357ef4038b8c
[08:19:19] <edheldil> raevol: GemRBPath=../gemrb
[08:19:36] <edheldil> data are not copied to build/
[08:20:06] <edheldil> so you just use them in the original git location
[08:20:36] <raevol> ok had to make it ../../gemrb
[08:20:43] <raevol> running now
[08:20:44] <lynxlynxlynx> the noinstall cfg is preconfigured for this, you just have to change the gametype and gamepath
[08:21:45] <raevol> ah this tiny tiny window...
[08:24:36] <raevol> something wonky with the voice selection box
[08:26:05] <lynxlynxlynx> not clicking where you'd expect?
[08:26:11] <raevol> yea
[08:26:38] <lynxlynxlynx> anyway, that whole code has been rewritten and will get in sometime after the release
[08:27:15] <raevol> not in git yet?
[08:27:29] <raevol> i remember i installed a widescreen mod last time i was gemrb'ing
[08:27:34] --> edheldil_ has joined #gemrb
[08:27:34] <raevol> is that still possible?
[08:27:47] <raevol> edheldil_ works now :3
[08:28:23] <edheldil> sorry for that, plugged notebook to the network :)
[08:29:15] <raevol> hehe
[08:29:36] <raevol> well... 1:30 am here, i will pass out
[08:29:40] <raevol> will mess with it more tomorrow
[08:29:43] <raevol> thanks for the help guys
[08:29:51] <edheldil> you are welcome
[08:30:55] <-- raevol has left IRC (Quit: Leaving.)
[08:49:13] <lynxlynxlynx> ok, second baddie found
[10:02:07] <lynxlynxlynx> (gdb) p event.key.keysym
[10:02:08] <lynxlynxlynx> $5 = {scancode = 88 'X', sym = SDLK_KP2, mod = KMOD_NUM, unicode = 50}

[10:03:42] <lynxlynxlynx> ehh :D
[10:07:17] <mrugiero> What's with that? :p
[10:15:06] <lynxlynxlynx> i lost 20min due to misreading
[10:19:03] <mrugiero> Happens to the best ones.
[10:20:13] <mrugiero> A few days ago I thought I had removed a huge bunch of duplicated code of a driver just to find out there was ONE different character in each line which totally changed the meaning of the lines, so it wasn't actually duplicated cases as I thought.
[10:20:30] <mrugiero> Had to revert it, luckily I never sent the patch so I didn't ashamed myself :p
[10:22:05] <lynxlynxlynx> mhm
[10:22:16] <lynxlynxlynx> makes you appreciate syntax highlighting that much more
[10:22:54] <mrugiero> True.
[10:30:49] <edheldil> hehe. That looks a lot like a lesson from that essay on programming :)
