[18:11:31] --> brad_a has joined #gemrb
[18:11:53] <brad_a> mmm gonna be a mac version of BGEE :)
[18:12:18] <fuzzie> you'd sort of hope so..? :P
[18:12:54] <brad_a> well yeah seems silly to make an ipad verson and not make a mac version
[18:13:00] <brad_a> but now its official
[18:14:49] <brad_a> looks like they are planing on utilizing apples cloud for sharing saves between ipad and mac
[18:15:28] <fuzzie> oh dear :P
[18:20:04] <brad_a> kinda sadens me a bit cuz lack of mac BG was my primary driving factor for developing gemrb
[18:22:42] <brad_a> at least the multiplayer will be completely x-platform
[18:23:13] <Yoshimo> i hope gemrb wont disappear just because of the enhanced edition
[18:24:18] <brad_a> me too
[18:24:37] <brad_a> but even if i/we maintain a will to develop it we still need users...
[18:25:13] <brad_a> guess we'll just have to 1 up them :p
[18:27:43] <tomprince> I am somewhat annoyed that they said they didn't have the source code (when Avenger asked them about it).
[18:28:31] <tomprince> Also, I wonder how they are going to handle things like the fixpacks.
[18:29:24] <fuzzie> "we don't have the source code" is a pretty common response among game companies.
[18:29:53] <fuzzie> And they almost always mysteriously find it behind the sofa when it looks like they might be able to make enough profit using it.
[18:40:55] <brad_a> lol speaking of lost source: http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/30/prince-of-persia-creator-finds-lost-source-code-cues-delicate-c/
[18:43:40] <fuzzie> yes :)
[18:53:44] <lynxlynxlynx> if nothing else, we'll always have the upper hand of openness and flexibility
[18:54:02] <lynxlynxlynx> and like any commercial project, it will be abandoned in a few years
[18:54:37] <fuzzie> yes, and it gives us new binaries to poke at, renewed interest, etc
[18:55:06] <lynxlynxlynx> yep
[18:55:11] --> SiENcE has joined #gemrb
[18:55:37] <lynxlynxlynx> if they're following the mod scene like they said they do, we may have been a good part in the inspiration for revival too
[19:01:35] <tomprince> Or maybe there using GemRB, and we'll get a nice code dump at some point. :)
[19:03:00] <fuzzie> Their original codebase doesn't seem particularly bad.
[19:04:02] <fuzzie> And I guess the Mac porters would've had a copy in any case, so there's a possible third-party source.
[19:11:24] --> Avenger has joined #gemrb
[19:11:30] <Avenger> hi'
[19:11:36] <brad_a> hello
[19:12:00] <Avenger> bgee cannot harm us, only help. Only lawyers can harm us, but i seen no signs of such action
[19:12:25] <brad_a> oh im not worried about that
[19:14:20] <Avenger> though the current developments don't really interest me, so far it is just like widescreened bg tutu. They might develop some new game which i can play :)
[19:15:32] <Avenger> btw, did wjp fix the color tint?
[19:15:59] <brad_a> no
[19:16:14] <brad_a> or at least it isnt upstream
[19:16:23] <wjp> the pixelformat branch on my github fork is a first step
[19:16:35] <Avenger> and what about the touchscreen coordinate problems?
[19:17:05] <wjp> brad_a: it should be easy to take my branch and add some #ifdefs to it to fix it
[19:17:47] <brad_a> ill look at it tho im not sure when i will have time. been quite swamped lately
[19:18:10] <brad_a> touch coordinates work for windowed mode or in the simulator
[19:18:20] <brad_a> no idea why it would work there but not on device tho
[19:18:39] <brad_a> i posted a diff for changes since it was last working but i dont think anybody looked
[19:19:28] <brad_a> i wish there were a working android sdl 1.3/2.0 gemrb
[19:20:27] <Avenger> looks like gemrb is in the official mandriva distro now O_o
[20:05:32] <lynxlynxlynx> why wouldn't it be?
[20:05:41] <lynxlynxlynx> iirc xrogaan packaged it
[20:14:13] <Avenger> well, it isn't in many official distros
[20:21:15] <lynxlynxlynx> you sure about that?
[20:23:34] <Avenger> the gentoo version seems unsupported, they cannot get past the sample config. playdeb is not official for debian. What other distros got it?
[20:28:47] <lynxlynxlynx> if mandriva has it, magaea; fedora, (bsd), source mage :)
[20:30:31] <Avenger> fedora? that is the community version of redhat?
[20:31:03] <brad_a> no centos is comunity red hat i believe
[20:31:48] <lynxlynxlynx> fedora is the testing ground for rh
[20:32:55] <Avenger> opensuse/fedora/playdeb etc i don't consider entirely 'official' :)
[20:36:00] <fuzzie> I don't think you can really put playdeb into the same category as opensuse/fedora. :P
[20:37:50] <Avenger> you are right
[20:40:01] <fuzzie> (but there's no package in fedora, right?)
[21:38:57] <-- Avenger has left IRC (Quit: bye!)
[21:39:28] <-- alx3apps has left #gemrb
[22:11:41] <Yoshimo> there was a guy trying to get a gemrb into debian , but last time i checked it was not lintian clean
