[16:13:44] --> Maighstir has joined #gemrb
[16:15:54] <lynxlynxlynx> Maighstir: i installed a plugin so you can <fc #dfdfdf>colorise text</fc> as much as you want
[16:16:51] <Maighstir> cool, I was mostly afraid that italic, bold and underline might not be obvious enough
[16:17:56] <Maighstir> coloured text draws attention, which is what I was after for when attention is needed
[16:18:40] <lynxlynxlynx> yeah
[16:19:50] <Maighstir> also a new theme I see
[16:24:07] <lynxlynxlynx> the default
[16:24:18] <lynxlynxlynx> i upgraded dokuwiki and the old one died
[16:24:27] <Maighstir> oh, okay
[16:24:45] <lynxlynxlynx> no will to hack on it, especially since there's an almost done replacement shown on the forum
[16:29:09] <brad_a> replacement? you talking about that guy that hasn't posted in months? or is there a new development?
[16:30:01] <lynxlynxlynx> that guy
[16:34:30] <brad_a> when were you planning on putting out the new version?
[16:38:43] <lynxlynxlynx> of the theme? when i get it
[16:39:12] <lynxlynxlynx> next gemrb release eta is two weeks
[16:39:21] --> saohh has joined #gemrb
[16:39:46] <lynxlynxlynx> hopefully fuzzie fixes the action crash by then
[16:41:17] <saohh> hallo
[16:41:40] <lynxlynxlynx> oj
[16:41:58] <saohh> i got a question i would like to play my old baldurs gate but i cant find a dmg to install it by using the gemrb
[16:42:48] <saohh> is there any? or does no precompiled version exist? for noobs as iam
[16:43:03] <lynxlynxlynx> there are no mac packages for the last release
[16:43:04] <saohh> also i have lion which uses the gnu c as far as i know
[16:43:49] <saohh> because of? its not only related to ppc isnt it? its also working for the intels?
[16:43:51] <lynxlynxlynx> brad_a may know more, iirc he built a mac version too
[16:44:28] <brad_a> i can send you a build that works with lion
[16:44:35] <lynxlynxlynx> gemrb works on both, there's just no prebuilt packages for the latest version
[16:44:53] <saohh> is anyone of you guys familar with a mac?
[16:45:00] <brad_a> yo
[16:45:17] <brad_a> by that i mean yes
[16:45:24] <saohh> because i come from linux but never did the three steps with mac os
[16:45:32] <Maighstir> yes, though not as far as any kind of development goes
[16:45:40] <saohh> so what would you recommend?
[16:45:46] <brad_a> do you have Xcode 4?
[16:45:50] <saohh> yes i do ;)
[16:46:00] <brad_a> if so i can just give you a link to download my project
[16:46:12] <saohh> that would be wonderful
[16:46:21] <brad_a> you should be able to simply click build provided you have the SDL framework installed
[16:46:39] <saohh> i read about the sdl i need as well
[16:46:45] <saohh> which version do you have 10.7.1?
[16:46:50] <brad_a> it works with either 1.2 or 1.3
[16:47:04] <brad_a> on lion you need to compile sdl 1.2 yourself if you want fullscreen to work
[16:47:11] <brad_a> 10.7.1
[16:47:26] <saohh> well a window would be nice for the start
[16:47:32] <saohh> at least the game running
[16:47:37] <brad_a> because the distribution of sdl 1.2 is behind the source unless that has been updated
[16:47:48] <saohh> besides being stable, does the engine enable me to play the game completely?
[16:47:58] <brad_a> well sdl you can just download and click build in Xcode too
[16:48:06] <brad_a> its super idot proof
[16:48:39] <saohh> well i can imagine iam such a beginner on those things (never compiled anything yet on my lovely mac) that i would need more detailed (step by step instructions)
[16:48:43] <saohh> sorry to be a pain ;(
[16:49:10] <saohh> doesnt have to be right now
[16:49:16] <brad_a> I'm quite serious once you get the SDL source there is an Xcode project in there and you just hit build
[16:49:18] <saohh> just when you got the time to help me ;)
[16:49:37] <saohh> ok just a second let me google (giyf) ;)
[16:50:02] <brad_a> tyou can download the precompiled framework from their site too but as i mentioned fullscreen doesn't work with it
[16:50:20] <saohh> ok so then lets do the complete way
[16:50:27] <saohh> what to download 1.2?
[16:50:49] <brad_a> 1.2 is the most tested but 1.3 has some new features that could use testing
[16:50:57] <lynxlynxlynx> bg1 should be fully completable, yes
[16:51:20] <saohh> i dont find 1.3 anyways in their navigation menues
[16:51:24] <lynxlynxlynx> it will be a bit harder than the original, but that's usually a welcome change
[16:51:49] <saohh> which one do you recommend? 1.2 or 1.3?
[16:51:55] <saohh> does bg2 also work on 1.2?
[16:52:05] <brad_a> well i use 1.3 but i really don't play the game i just test things
[16:52:08] <brad_a> yes
[16:52:31] <saohh> where is the 1.3 link?
[16:52:37] <saohh> libsdl.org right?
[16:52:43] <brad_a> I'm not sure if they patched 1.3 to fix the pallet color problem that results in the text not being colored
[16:52:55] <brad_a> so probably should just download the source for 1.2
[16:53:00] <saohh> allright
[16:54:02] <saohh> where shall i extract it?
[16:54:08] <saohh> iam working as a normal user (no admin)
[16:54:14] <saohh> users home dir?
[16:54:52] <brad_a> it doesn't matter
[16:55:19] <brad_a> you just need to build it and take the finished framework and install it in /Library/Frameworks
[16:55:40] <saohh> way too fast step by step friend ;9
[16:55:42] <brad_a> when you build change the product to the framework instead of the DMG target tho
[16:55:46] <saohh> i extracted it right now
[16:55:52] <saohh> inside my users home
[16:56:09] <saohh> now fire up xcode?
[16:56:24] <brad_a> ok there is an Xcode project located in SDL/xcode
[16:56:29] <brad_a> just double click it
[16:56:44] <brad_a> im sorry sdl/xcode/sdl
[16:56:57] <saohh> nope
[16:57:03] <saohh> but i see a xcode.tar.gz
[16:57:09] <brad_a> hmm yeah i have 1.3 so the path may be diffrent
[16:57:09] <saohh> maybe another extract first?
[16:57:20] <brad_a> let me download 1.2 real quik
[16:57:26] <saohh> thanks dude ;)
[17:00:31] <brad_a> here is the Xcode project for gemrb
[17:00:32] <brad_a> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13866402/gemrb%20xcode%204.zip
[17:01:22] <saohh> just downloading it ;)
[17:01:24] <saohh> thanks a lot
[17:02:04] <brad_a> ok so yes just double click the Xcode.tar.gz to extract it and then the path is sd/xcode/sdl
[17:04:07] <brad_a> once you have the sdl project open use the drop down next to the play/stop buttons to select the framework target
[17:06:41] <saohh> 64 or 32 bit?
[17:06:45] <saohh> is that important?
[17:08:23] <saohh> i tried 64 and its giving me errors
[17:08:33] <brad_a> what errors?
[17:08:46] <brad_a> probably because it is set to use the 10.4 sdk
[17:08:53] <saohh> there is no sdk with the name or path
[17:08:58] <brad_a> just change the build setting for that to 10.7
[17:09:29] <saohh> he wants macosx10.4u.sdk
[17:09:38] <saohh> in /developer/SDKS/
[17:09:50] <saohh> but cant find it
[17:09:53] <brad_a> yeah c=jsut change the setting
[17:10:00] <brad_a> yeah it doesn't exist that isn't a problem
[17:10:04] <saohh> how to solve that?
[17:10:12] <brad_a> just go to the project build settings
[17:11:17] <saohh> File / Project Settings ? Iam in there
[17:14:42] <saohh> and now?
[17:15:05] <brad_a> no thats not it as far as i know there is no menu to get there you have to click on the project in the sidebar
[17:16:01] <saohh> you mean a msg box where i can check or uncheck some "Targets"?
[17:16:09] <saohh> like the libraries?
[17:16:49] <saohh> first he asks perform changes or not
[17:16:52] <saohh> what to do?
[17:17:10] <saohh> i think i see the project build window, behind that popup
[17:17:48] <saohh> he wants to "upgrade" some targets to the LLM compiler config
[17:17:55] <saohh> LLVM
[17:18:02] <brad_a> yeah you can do that but it doesn't matter
[17:18:24] <saohh> ok done
[17:18:26] <brad_a> hang on I'm just building it for you its kinda hard to talk though if you aren't familiar with xcode
[17:18:29] <saohh> now i see much information
[17:18:39] <saohh> i see
[17:19:40] <brad_a> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13866402/SDL.framework.zip
[17:19:58] <brad_a> that should work for you
[17:20:06] <saohh> so you compiled it?
[17:20:16] <brad_a> yes
[17:20:19] <brad_a> just install that
[17:20:22] <saohh> havent i been just a short clicks in front of my onw build?
[17:20:38] <saohh> or is it much more then disabling the 10.4 sdk and build again?
[17:21:04] <brad_a> go to product->manage schemes
[17:21:18] <brad_a> and select the framework target and hit the edit button
[17:21:19] <saohh> ok iam in there
[17:21:30] <saohh> done
[17:21:37] <saohh> aaah i see it
[17:21:53] <saohh> development native only?
[17:21:55] <brad_a> select the "run" configuration and change the build configuration from 10.4 whatever to deployment_native_only
[17:22:24] <brad_a> then you should save those settings and then to product->build for->build for running
[17:22:24] <saohh> did that
[17:23:13] <saohh> are inline assembly issues normal?
[17:23:46] <saohh> build failed
[17:23:50] <saohh> due to those issues
[17:23:52] <brad_a> with what error?
[17:24:01] <saohh> inline assembly issue
[17:24:07] <brad_a> are you sure you are building the framework target only?
[17:24:08] <saohh> invalid operand for instruction
[17:24:36] <saohh> yes
[17:25:51] <saohh> SDL_blit_A.c
[17:25:57] <brad_a> hmmm. I'm not sure what to tell you
[17:26:12] <brad_a> did you modernize the project?
[17:26:16] <saohh> yes
[17:26:24] <saohh> i can retry those steps without doing that
[17:26:28] <saohh> so keep it as it is
[17:26:42] <brad_a> no i modernized mine and it worked fine
[17:27:22] <brad_a> did you change any other build settings?
[17:27:29] <saohh> no
[17:27:58] <brad_a> and the drop down next to the stop button says framework > my mac...
[17:28:28] <saohh> Framework > My Mac 64-bit
[17:28:33] <saohh> bit i tried 32 as well
[17:28:49] <saohh> which gives me double the amount of "Inline Assemly Issues"
[17:28:50] <brad_a> that won't matter. it should build both anyway regardless of what you select
[17:28:53] <saohh> 16 times
[17:29:08] <brad_a> yes because it is building a universal framework for both 32 and 64
[17:29:24] <brad_a> how did you get the source code?
[17:30:17] <saohh> downloaded it
[17:30:21] <saohh> extracted the one
[17:30:32] <saohh> then found the xcode.tar and extracted it as well
