[19:23:20] <Seniorita> Project of the Month May 2014 | Linux Game Awards
[19:23:28] <lynxlynxlynx> nobody told us, heh
[19:39:10] <fuzzie> :)
[20:17:11] <DrMcCoy> :)
[20:18:45] <DrMcCoy> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1649838104/serpent-in-the-staglands RPG, supposedly a throwback to games like Baldur's Gate
[20:18:48] <Seniorita> Serpent in the Staglands by Whalenought Studios — Kickstarter
[20:18:49] <Seniorita> »An isometric, RTWP, party-based CRPG set in the icy Staglands, where a trapped god and chosen company embark on a perilous quest.«
[20:24:53] <fuzzie> funny how $10k seems an insignificant amount all of a sudden :)
[20:25:37] <DrMcCoy> In terms of getting the money from Kickstarter or in terms of how it seems not enough to build that game?
[20:26:00] <fuzzie> both
[20:26:08] <DrMcCoy> :D
[20:26:34] <fuzzie> I was talking to a fellow student earlier about games written before the internet was available to everyone
[20:26:51] <fuzzie> and his comment "wow, crazy, those must be absurdly old games"
[20:26:54] <fuzzie> and now I feel really old :P
[20:27:08] <DrMcCoy> wtf
[20:28:12] <DrMcCoy> What's his take on books written before there was TV? :P
[20:28:22] <fuzzie> don't be silly, books aren't that old
[20:29:46] <DrMcCoy> You should have told him horror stories about getting cheat codes out of printed magazines!
[20:30:34] <DrMcCoy> And if you got stuck in a game, you couldn't just pull up GameFAQ, no, you talked to people to get clues!
[20:32:15] <fuzzie> well this sounds quaint but unrealistic
[20:32:41] <fuzzie> I actually got completely stuck on one of the last puzzles of Full Throttle when I was a kid
[20:33:03] <fuzzie> funny to think that couldn't possibly happen nowadays
[20:35:24] <DrMcCoy> :)
[20:40:51] <lynxlynxlynx> or that you had to downgrade the os sometimes to be able to play
[20:41:56] <DrMcCoy> Fiddling around with config.sys and autoexec.bat
[20:43:25] <lynxlynxlynx> mhm
[20:43:58] <DrMcCoy> Rebooting a few hundred times until you got the config together that works
[20:47:17] <fuzzie> I was trying to find a way to explain segmentation today
[20:47:24] <fuzzie> but I gave up in despair
[20:51:03] --> derp-a-doo has joined #gemrb
[20:52:28] <derp-a-doo> So I don't know what exactly I've stumbled on, but I think it would be real swell (neat) to play an independent game made on an IE engine clone. Has anyone made an indie game with GemRB?????? I can't find any evidence of anyone having done so. I want to play it if it's been done!
[20:54:22] <lynxlynxlynx> i'm sure they'd let us know
[20:54:48] <lynxlynxlynx> something may be in the works right now, but i haven't checked the status in a while
[20:55:03] <lynxlynxlynx> so for all intents and purposes, the closest thing is our demo stub
[20:55:45] <lynxlynxlynx> or the old dragonlance tc
[20:57:17] <derp-a-doo> thanks
