[02:10:38] <man_in_shack> *ok
[02:10:48] <man_in_shack> turns out i have totsc 1.3.5508
[02:14:38] <man_in_shack> it further turns out i had previously downloaded the 5512 patch :)
[02:23:27] <man_in_shack> worked out why it wouldn't patch too
[02:23:32] <man_in_shack> tolower didn't work correctly
[02:24:40] <man_in_shack> so i wrote a little script to do the same thing: find -depth | rename 'y/[A-Z]/[a-z]/'
[02:24:48] <man_in_shack> rename is an AWESOME tool for linux users :)
[02:41:26] <man_in_shack> ok
[02:41:32] <man_in_shack> i've installed widescreen mod
[02:41:43] <man_in_shack> fun times

[02:52:49] <man_in_shack> now that i've set it to 1024x768, it's working nicely :)

[08:47:14] <fuzzie> really?
[08:48:05] <fuzzie> oh
[08:48:12] <fuzzie> someone seems to have added crash-causing scrollbar stuff
[08:48:22] <man_in_shack> well it wasn't me

[11:09:15] <lynxlynxlynx> it crashed due to Frames being full of nulls
[11:09:40] <lynxlynxlynx> ~ gemrb/core/GUI/ScrollBar.cpp:65
[11:10:29] <lynxlynxlynx> must be something odd in the spell selection window in bg1, since others don't cause this problem
[11:16:52] <fuzzie> well, that was my guess in the first place, heh
[11:17:08] <fuzzie> but upon further inspection it didn't *look* like it was using Frames anywhere it couldn't have before
[11:17:10] <-- Sindikat has left #gemrb
[11:17:34] <lynxlynxlynx> calls into the same routine as others, but they do use some other ids and logic in a few places
[11:17:39] <lynxlynxlynx> let's see
[11:18:55] <fuzzie> well, my initial thought was that accessing Frames in SetPos was bad
[11:20:39] <fuzzie> the spell selection gets an extra (non-CHU) scrollbar
[11:21:00] <fuzzie> and indeed, the GUIScript calls SetPos on it before it does a bg2-only SetSprites..
[11:21:14] <fuzzie> presumably the "#FIXME: use other resources instead, this one is bg2-only" is your comment :)
[11:22:21] <lynxlynxlynx> ah, I had gui enhancements on
[11:22:33] <lynxlynxlynx> i guess i copied the bg2 config when setting it up
[11:22:43] <fuzzie> but that should work fine, really
[11:23:03] <lynxlynxlynx> i don't know if it was ever tested
[11:23:06] <fuzzie> i'd be surprised if it didn't crash before too, though..
[11:23:17] <fuzzie> in the event it ever appeared

[18:00:15] <Tim1982> Hey
[18:01:01] <Tim1982> hope someone here is able to help me :)
[18:03:25] <Tim1982> I just used GemRB (Linux) for a BGT installation. The first problem I faced was that I started with Lvl 7 instead of 1.. so I edited this file in the GemRB override folder for BG2 where the StartXP are defined. This worked well, but after this change the Game is slow like hell and sound is sloppy.. Music is completely gone. Do you have any Idea what I could do in this case?
[18:21:15] <lynxlynxlynx> uh, surely these two things are unrelated
[18:22:08] <lynxlynxlynx> what kind of a machine do you have?
[18:22:29] <lynxlynxlynx> which audio driver are you using in gemrb?
[18:22:48] <lynxlynxlynx> and which gemrb version
[18:23:14] <Tim1982> It is an Athlon 2.4 Ghz, 1 GB Ram.. and an ATI Card.. a bit older. Ubuntu 11.04.
[18:23:27] <Tim1982> In the CFG it says I am using OpenAL
[18:23:44] <Tim1982> The newest Gemrb 0.6.5 from the Playdeb Repository
[18:24:42] <Tim1982> It is interesting, that before this XP change.. everything was damn fine and smooth.
[18:25:44] <lynxlynxlynx> i can't imagine how it would be connected
[18:26:00] <Tim1982> Same with me... that is why I am here ;)
[18:26:01] <lynxlynxlynx> you can level back up to 7 and i'm pretty sure the problems wouldn't be gone
[18:27:06] <Tim1982> Perhaps other important info: I only installed the BGT and the Widescreen Mod. Nothing more because I read of problems with Modding and GemRb...
[18:28:05] <lynxlynxlynx> only BGT hehe
[18:28:14] <Tim1982> "only" ;)
[18:29:05] <lynxlynxlynx> maybe some script ran amok, that's all i can think of
[18:29:29] <lynxlynxlynx> if you start a fresh bgt game, is it problematic immediately?
[18:29:44] <Tim1982> Yep.
[18:29:46] <lynxlynxlynx> if you start a fresh bgt game with the xp change, is it problematic immediately?
[18:29:50] <Tim1982> This is when it occured.
[18:30:04] <Tim1982> New Game, New Charakter...
[18:30:10] <lynxlynxlynx> if you start a fresh bgt game without the xp change, is it problematic immediately?
[18:30:12] <lynxlynxlynx> :)
[18:30:50] <Tim1982> Good question. It wasn't like that before I changed the XP Setting... but I could change it back and test again. Sure.
[18:31:30] <Tim1982> Will take a while.. the Linux Box is in another room ;)
[18:37:14] <Tim1982> Ok... it was simply coincidence that this happened together. It is the same with lvl 7 at the beginning.
[18:37:47] <Tim1982> For Explanation: For example the Footsteps you normally hear are one step every 2 second...
[18:38:25] <Tim1982> the people are not talking like they normally are when you click on them.. for example the innkeeper in candlekeep says nothing...
[18:38:58] <Tim1982> And it seems that the charakter is gliding over the grass... the animation is slow.
[18:40:44] <lynxlynxlynx> the footstep thing is normal, i get that too
[18:40:54] <Tim1982> Ah ok.
[18:40:56] <lynxlynxlynx> definitely not bgt related
[18:41:37] <lynxlynxlynx> sound and music is not something we test all that much, since we mostly run on mute to preserve our sanity
[18:42:26] <Tim1982> So you don't like the sound? ;)
[18:43:55] <lynxlynxlynx> how would you like to hear the same stuff over and over and over again? ;)
[18:44:12] <lynxlynxlynx> i see what you mean with the innkeep
[18:44:25] <lynxlynxlynx> it should probably fire a verbal constant there
[18:44:50] <Tim1982> It does in the original game.. so..
[18:46:06] <lynxlynxlynx> he says his hotel is as clean as an elven ass?
[18:46:50] <Tim1982> I never heard it in english.. normally I play in german.. but yeah I suppose he would say that in english.
[18:47:33] <lynxlynxlynx> well, is the german version not a translation of that?
[18:48:16] <Tim1982> It should be.. but the german version is ... kind of slapstick... the voices and the language are.. interesting.
[18:48:37] <Tim1982> Think of a game completely in bright Scottish Accent.
[18:49:08] <Tim1982> They synchronized the game with extrem Accent... you don't understand a word sometimes.
[18:49:46] <lynxlynxlynx> heh
[18:52:47] <lynxlynxlynx> he also says something the next time you talk to him, right (but something different)?
[18:53:37] <Tim1982> I think so.. yes.. but it is long time ago since I played that ;)
