[01:46:23] <-- Dominus has left IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)
[01:47:33] --> Dominus has joined #gemrb
[02:15:29] --> Eli2| has joined #gemrb
[02:18:05] <-- Eli2_ has left IRC (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
[05:08:48] --> ilbelkyr_ has joined #gemrb
[05:13:07] <-- ilbelkyr has left IRC (*.net *.split)
[07:11:35] <-- Lightkey has left IRC (Ping timeout: 256 seconds)
[07:16:55] <-- Eagle_ has left IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)
[07:23:21] --> Lightkey has joined #gemrb
[07:29:19] --> Eagle_ has joined #gemrb
[07:29:56] <Eagle_> I tried pointing the CDs to the game directory but that had no effect either, the GemRB still just quits
[07:34:08] <edheldil> well, this looks (to me) suspicious: Cannot find data\progtest.bif <-- what's this file? It's not in the BG1/BG2 manifests I have. Ditto for the other two
[07:34:23] <edheldil> could it be GameType?
[07:36:38] <edheldil> what's the current config?
[07:39:36] <edheldil> can you run gemrb from the console window to check for errors that were not put in the log file?
[07:50:00] --> GeneralDuke has joined #gemrb
[08:46:43] <Eagle_> this is the current config file: https://pastebin.com/DVJCBkut
[08:53:17] <Eagle_> no idea what the missing progtest.bif etc. files are, they are not part of my game either
[08:53:40] <Eagle_> I am a bit rusty when it comes to the cmd window commands to run GemRB
[08:53:57] <Eagle_> I barely had to use dos when I grew up
[08:59:10] <Eagle_> figured it out, will post the results
[09:01:54] <Eagle_> so the last missing line from the GemRB.log file posted before is this: ImportError: No module named site
[09:03:52] <Eagle_> here the entire log file:https://pastebin.com/wRzFXrqt
[09:15:41] <edheldil> Looks like a problem with your python installation. Could something here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5599872/python-windows-importerror-no-module-named-site help you? E.g. setting PYTHONHOME
[09:29:38] <Eagle_> unless Python is a default Windows program I don't think my wife's computer has it installed
[09:29:46] <Eagle_> is it a requirement for GemRB to run?
[09:50:57] <edheldil> it is, but it is a part of the gemrb installer. Try to set the envvars as advised in the link I gave you
[09:51:50] <Eagle_> I never ran the GemRB installer, I just unzipped the archive I downloaded, changed the config and ran the .exe
[10:10:07] <Eagle_> I guess I'll download and install python then
[10:43:14] <Eagle_> alright, I think I made the changes, ran the GemRB.exe throught the cmd window again, now the last line is this: File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Python36-32\Lib\site.py", line 177 file=sys.stderr>
[10:43:22] <Eagle_> Syntax Error: invalid syntax
[10:45:04] <kujeger> ah, I think gemrb needs python2
[11:04:28] <edheldil> yeah
[11:09:35] <Eagle_> oh, I'll try with python 2 once the wife gets off her computer and report back
[13:19:08] --> lynxlynxlynx has joined #gemrb
[13:19:08] <-- lynxlynxlynx has left IRC (Changing host)
[13:19:08] --> lynxlynxlynx has joined #gemrb
[13:19:08] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to lynxlynxlynx
[13:35:12] <edheldil> Hi, lynx
[13:58:09] <Eagle_> does GemRB even work without following all the instructions here? http://gemrb.org/wiki/doku.php?id=install:windows
[13:58:31] <Eagle_> I merely downloaded 0.8.4 of GemRB, set up the config and thought I would run
[14:09:43] <edheldil> Eagle_: you should concern yourself with the "Pre-build git binaries" part only
[14:09:59] <edheldil> i.e. that page should not concern you
[14:18:29] <Eagle_> ok, that is what I did so far, but somehow the Python installation now became relevant
[14:18:57] <Eagle_> due to the ImportError
[14:19:27] <Eagle_> I'll try with Python 2 in a bit (any version preferred to get this running e.g. 2.6?)
[14:26:15] <-- Eagle_ has left IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)
[14:43:54] <edheldil> no idea, but I would try with the latest stable 2.x (2.7, iirc)
[14:55:41] --> Eagle has joined #gemrb
[14:55:54] <Eagle> installed Python 2, set the paths and voila, IT WORKS
[14:56:05] --- Eagle is now known as Guest29817
[14:56:44] <Guest29817> thanks for the help wjp, edheldil and kujeger
[14:59:29] <edheldil> good to know :)

[15:24:57] <lynxlynxlynx> hey, missed all that

[17:50:26] --> Eagl3 has joined #gemrb

[19:01:47] --> lynxlynxlynx has joined #gemrb
[19:01:47] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to lynxlynxlynx
[19:02:56] <lynxlynxlynx> Eagl3: yes, nothing, since we don't support multiplayer at all
[19:13:00] <Eagl3> too bad, had hoped it would work
[19:13:51] <Eagl3> for whatever reason running any of the infinity engine games crashes my wife's computer (Win 7, GOG versions)
[19:14:12] <Eagl3> if I don't use GemRB
[19:14:26] <lynxlynxlynx> that's odd
[20:23:14] --- ilbelkyr_ is now known as ilbelkyr
