[01:04:46] --> brada has joined #gemrb
[01:22:21] --> kosmas has joined #gemrb
[01:29:58] <brada> so itlooks to me like the original PST just starts dropping journal entries after a time
[01:30:16] <brada> i load the same save in both and original only goes back to “day 7”
[01:30:22] <brada> we display *everything*
[01:30:58] <brada> so that would fix that overflow problem right there if we just did that.

[02:18:14] <Kosmas> can somebody help me if I post a log here with gemrb 8.0 on android
[02:18:50] <Kosmas> it was working fine with the market version
[02:19:16] <Kosmas> but now after the videos it crashes
[02:19:51] <Kosmas> the log is as follows:

[18:38:19] <brada> lynx: i dont own IWD, so i cannot check, but did that sort removal fix the error for script selection?
[18:43:19] --> lynxlynxlynx has joined #gemrb
[18:43:19] <-- lynxlynxlynx has left IRC (Changing host)
[18:43:19] --> lynxlynxlynx has joined #gemrb

[18:43:19] <-- lynxlynx has left IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[18:44:02] <lynxlynxlynx> i doubt it
[18:44:20] <lynxlynxlynx> it just broke sorting afaict
[18:47:42] <lynxlynxlynx> which you can test in any game
[18:55:05] <edheldil> brada: well spotted that pst journal horizon
[18:55:22] <brada> sure, but i wouldnt say it broke anything :) the sorting should either be done in python, or as an option because implicit sorting breaks things that dont want to be sorted
[18:56:11] <brada> ed: not sure what you mean…
[18:59:20] <edheldil> I mean that you noticed that pst forgets old journal entries
[18:59:49] <lynxlynxlynx> your change swapped one broken thing for another
[19:00:03] <lynxlynxlynx> it's fine in master as dialogs are not select lists like that
[19:00:06] <brada> ah, yes. that. not sure why they chose to forget things instead of implementing some kind of paging system like in other games
[19:00:33] <brada> dialogs?
[19:00:54] <brada> this should still function fine, just not sorted
[19:00:55] <lynxlynxlynx> ie things that don't want to be sorted
[19:01:33] <lynxlynxlynx> in master all the real lists are sorted
[19:11:28] <edheldil> brada: NO forgets things all the time :)
[19:25:38] <fuzzie> brada: remember, pst branched considerably pre-bg1
[19:25:39] <brada> lynx: pst quest entries arent sorted (alphabetically). im sure there are a number of things that are like that
[19:25:56] <brada> fuzzie: i didnt know that. thought bg was the first
[19:26:20] <lynxlynxlynx> that's a select list?
[19:26:25] <brada> yes
[19:26:33] <lynxlynxlynx> didn't know
[19:26:37] <lynxlynxlynx> first exception only
[19:27:09] <brada> are AI scripts sorted alphabetically?
[19:27:28] <brada> im not sure if that would break either way
[19:27:56] <brada> but the pst quest list sure breaks if it is sorted implicitly. the beasts list broke too
[19:28:14] <brada> the beast list itself was fine, but the value it pulled up was wrong
[19:39:56] <brada> ew, i just checked out master to see if that list was broken ther too
[19:40:06] <brada> such wonky/buggy behavior there
[19:41:23] <brada> pst journal listing is much faster on the font-rewrite branch :D
[19:42:38] <lynxlynxlynx> cool
[19:42:49] <lynxlynxlynx> pst is a special snowflake in so many ways
[19:43:12] <lynxlynxlynx> almost none of its guiscript code is shared, as it's littered with both different control ids and strings
[19:44:13] <lynxlynxlynx> so most improvements in functionally similar code don't make it there
[19:44:28] <brada> i have begun to notice
[19:44:36] <brada> probably the same for iwd2
[19:44:39] <lynxlynxlynx> its journal window is unique anyway, so that was to be expected there
[19:44:45] <brada> sure
[19:44:55] <lynxlynxlynx> iwd2 is better
[19:45:51] <brada> now that ive made several optimizations im even more curious if there is a noticable performance improvement on android if it were built off this branch, but nobody seems to beable to both build and test it
[19:55:25] <lynxlynxlynx> shouldn't it be noticeable on any platform?
[19:58:10] <brada> probably, but i am more curious if it makes it more “playable”. other platforms never really had a hard time hitting 30 fps
[19:58:36] <brada> ios can on high resolutions on weak hardware, but i dont have anything to test with there

[20:44:23] <lynxlynxlynx> grrr
[20:44:44] <lynxlynxlynx> i need to buy a new laptop, but setting stuff up is not something i consider fun
[20:45:33] <lynxlynxlynx> hopefully nixos can do the trick for the next time
[20:45:36] <fuzzie> yes, I am still installing stuff onto my laptop
[20:46:12] <fuzzie> tonight was installing intel's dev tools, which went surprisingly painlessly
