[04:53:41] <Pepelka> getting_the_games [GemRB wiki]
[05:27:45] <Lightkey> oh, GemRB 0.8.3 just got to Debian testing
[07:10:11] <lynxlynxlynx> besides the typo, it's only partially true, in effect not true

[20:12:19] <brada> we are BG:EE compatible now i see :D lol
[20:13:13] <brada> I honestly have no idea how much work needs to be done to be content compatible there
[20:14:07] <brada> on a related note, the new window manager will make zooming the game area possible (with SDL 2)
[20:43:51] <lynxlynxlynx> it depends on how much out-of-the-box you want to be
[20:44:09] <lynxlynxlynx> the new tileset format can be converted to the old one with other tools afaik
[20:44:40] <brada> preferably we wouldnt require any conversions, but if thats the first step then so be it
[20:44:46] <lynxlynxlynx> rulewise there's a bunch of extra tables, mostly externalising rules (yay)
[20:45:14] <lynxlynxlynx> nah, i think it would be easy to implement, the algorithm is known and at minimum dltcep has an implementation
[20:45:41] <lynxlynxlynx> what surely would work is the arena
[20:46:03] <lynxlynxlynx> well, or at least a few details (token, area type)
[20:46:46] --> edheldil_ has joined #gemrb
[20:47:57] <brada> maybe we shoudl make a wiki page for EE stuff
[20:48:14] <lynxlynxlynx> there's a section at the end of the todo
[20:50:50] <edheldil_> hi all
[21:00:58] <-- brada has left IRC (Quit: brada)
[21:12:54] <lynxlynxlynx> hey
[21:35:38] <mcphail> Zooming would be great. Can you add pinch controls for touchscreen? :)
[21:48:49] <lynxlynxlynx> i thought we already have that, but checking the code - doesn't look like it
[21:49:11] <lynxlynxlynx> why would we without zoom anyway, doh
[21:49:19] <mcphail> :)
[21:52:56] --> brada has joined #gemrb
[21:53:18] <brada> yes, pinch to zoom is in the plan for that :)
[21:54:08] <mcphail> brada: excellent. This is a great project :)
[21:55:21] <brada> unfortunately I have to do a significant amount of refactor/rewrite of the touch input code. I basically hacked it in ther previously and the view/window code broke it. We need to add touch input as an actual input type instead of translating to mouse events
[21:56:23] <brada> not super hard… but it is time consuming and thats the resourse im lacking lately
[21:57:28] <mcphail> brada: an embedded soft keyboard would be great, while you're at it... ;p
[21:57:34] <brada> over the holiday break i plan to finish getting the SDL 2 driver reassembled (minus the aforementioned touch input)
[21:57:43] <brada> mcphail: why?
[21:57:54] <brada> why isnt the built in soft keyboard enough?
[21:58:18] <mcphail> brada: only if SDL can trigger/use the one on the platform. Doesn't work on Ubuntu
[21:59:02] <mcphail> brada: makes getting past character creation screen somewhat tricky
[21:59:03] <brada> have you asked the SDL people about adding it? thats what we are using for iOS and Android so i dont really want to add even more to my ever expanding plate of things to do
[21:59:57] <mcphail> brada: it is a problem with the platform, which can't be fixed from the SDL side. I was really only joking about it - wouldn't expect to put more work on you ;). It is on my to-do list
[22:00:26] <mcphail> brada: I need it for any SDL games I port
[22:01:00] <brada> i cant imagine how a problem like that cant be solved within SDL. thats the whole point of SDL.
[22:02:42] <mcphail> brada: the security model in Ubuntu doesn't work like that. SDL can't tie in to the soft keyboard framework, at the moment, and it is a low priority for the framework devs
[22:03:08] <mcphail> brada: all they can advise is adding a Qt wrapper, which isn't optimal
[22:05:03] <brada> i see.
[22:05:55] <mcphail> brada: just now I have hacked it so the text "ubuntu" is added every time the soft keyboard is called. Lets players get past the char creation stage
[22:11:33] <lynxlynxlynx> i think mcphail would be a better char name :)
[22:12:10] <mcphail> lynxlynxlynx: of course :)
[22:13:25] <mcphail> It would cerainly be appropriate for my level 1 mage who keeps getting his a**e kicked in the forest
[22:14:33] * mcphail wishes BG characters could run, like in Torment
[22:16:48] <brada> theoretically there isn’t much preventing you from doing that weth gemrb
[22:16:57] <brada> animations would be off for sure
[22:28:36] <lynxlynxlynx> the only thing basically
[22:32:38] <lynxlynxlynx> ok 2
[22:32:51] <lynxlynxlynx> besides enabling the action, changing the default runscale
