[10:43:58] --> Dark-Star has joined #nuvie
[11:48:25] <Yuv422> hi Dark-Star
[11:53:15] <Dark-Star> hi. I just tried the new version of nuvie, and you're progressing really good :)
[11:53:37] <Yuv422> what platform are you using?
[11:53:57] <Dark-Star> win32
[11:54:03] <Yuv422> ah k
[11:54:17] <Yuv422> I'm working on monster support at the moment.
[11:54:50] <Dark-Star> although I had to patch in a "strcasecmp" function myself :)
[11:55:10] <Yuv422> ah k hmm which build system are you using?
[11:55:16] <Dark-Star> MSVC2003
[11:55:33] <Yuv422> .net
[11:55:37] <Dark-Star> yup
[11:55:51] <Dark-Star> And I had some problems with the std::toupper in conf/ but that might be because I used my old project files, and I managed to fix it
[11:56:15] <Yuv422> vividos maintains the MSVC port
[11:56:25] <Yuv422> I'm not sure if he uses .net
[11:56:32] <Yuv422> he might use v6.0
[11:56:59] <Yuv422> I have both .net and v6 at work
[11:57:06] <Yuv422> I might try compiling it some time
[11:57:22] <Yuv422> I've only ever compiled nuvie on Mac OS X
[11:57:27] <Dark-Star> well, no big deal, I got it working. but there are still some warnings about truncation to smaller types etc.
[11:57:29] <Yuv422> as that's where I do all my development
[11:57:46] <Yuv422> signed unsigned conversion?
[11:59:02] <Dark-Star> for example: conversions from uint16 to uint8 (in Map.h constructor IIRC, the z coordinate is uint8 but the constructor takes an uint16)
[11:59:18] <Yuv422> hmm
[11:59:23] * Yuv422 looks
[11:59:27] <Dark-Star> and in Actor.h(198) a conversion from double to float, so no big deal
[12:00:03] <Dark-Star> I can compile it again and give you a link to the log
[12:00:20] <Yuv422> that would be good
[12:01:06] <Dark-Star> it will be in german but I think the warnings will be quite clear anyway ;-)
[12:01:07] <Yuv422> my copy is out of sync with cvs ATM though
[12:01:17] <Yuv422> ;)
[12:01:45] <Dark-Star> yes, my cvs version might be out of sync too, depending on when sf.net did the last backup to their anon-cvs servers ...
[12:02:17] <Yuv422> I haven't committed in a while
[12:02:22] <Yuv422> so it should be ok
[12:02:40] <Yuv422> but sf's cvs is quite unreliable. :(
[12:03:17] <Dark-Star> http://dark-star.homeftp.org/nuvie_build_log.htm <-- the warnings start after the heading named 'Ausgabefenster' ...
[12:07:06] <Yuv422> hehe it's funny seeing the warnings in german
[12:07:44] <Dark-Star> yes, I'd prefer having an english version of MSVC, because some of the warnings are translated _very_ badly
[12:07:59] <Yuv422> ah k
[12:10:39] <Dark-Star> for example, one warning (in c# though) says something about missing 'anfuehrungszeichen', which means this char -> " <- (for string literals). However, what they _really_ mean is that you forgot to put '()' after a function call ...
[12:11:33] <Yuv422> nothing worse than misleading messages
[12:45:04] <-- Kirben has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[12:58:00] <Yuv422> time for bed
[12:58:06] <Yuv422> cya
