[19:16:42] <Yuv422> hi assur
[19:17:08] <Yuv422> I was thinking about doing some work on the SE/MD usecode system in nuvie
[19:17:14] <assur> Hello Eric, saw the chat yesterday. I have got a framework for the usecode in lua. I have also got the baseline for tile objects
[19:17:31] <Yuv422> ah k
[19:17:32] <Yuv422> cool
[19:17:41] <assur> Very raw at the moment, should probably check in what I have since progress is slow.
[19:17:54] <assur> Next thing to add is an object that requires a target
[19:18:17] <assur> I'll see if I can clean up what I've got in the next day or two and send it to you
[19:18:24] <Yuv422> cool
[19:20:27] <assur> I really don't remember MD's that much, but most of the objects in SE are very basic. On the other side of things, there are a few objects that are going to be very ugly to implement
[19:22:50] <Yuv422> are you using a lua table to index the usecode functions?
[19:23:03] <Yuv422> by obj number?
[19:23:35] <assur> Yes, I didn't see any other way
[19:23:41] <Yuv422> cool
[19:23:51] <Yuv422> yeah that was what I was thinking of doing too
[19:25:37] <assur> And I assume it will be relatively easy to share code between objects, but I haven't looked at how to do it yet (The idea being you can use the bucket on the tar pit or use the tar pit on the bucket to fill the bucket)
[19:26:08] <Yuv422> i guess that would be the same lua function
[19:26:40] <Yuv422> that accepts either a tar pit or a bucket
[19:26:50] <assur> Yes, but it gets implemented differently. When you use the bucket, it doesn't ask for an object to use it on. Based on position (and fills with water or tar appropriately)
[19:27:16] <assur> When you use the tar pit, you use it on an object (don't remember what else you can use it on, but you can make tarred cloth strips for fuses)
[19:27:49] <Yuv422> ah k
[19:27:51] <assur> Not really that big a deal, just need to implement it such that code is shared appropriately
[19:28:09] <Yuv422> yeah then separate functions are probably required
[19:28:18] <assur> I just don't want another player to run into the problem I did, trying to use the tar pit on a bucket and being unable to do it
[19:28:51] <assur> I still remember problems from my original play through not being able to use objects that I should have been able to use
[19:30:20] <Yuv422> I didn't like that I had to search the grind stone for my corn flour after using it
[19:31:38] <assur> Heh, all sorts of weird interactions like that.
