[10:10:44] <Darke> A 'bug' in U8 usecode that would be interesting to find the reason for: Yet another flaw sent in by Evil_Freak Dragon: When you're crossing the River of Fire for the first time, Beren will appear and warn you not to offend the Sorcerers. However, his remark is phrased as though it came at the end of a long conversation, and he seems completely nonplussed that you're braving fiercest dangers in order to reach the Sorceror's Enclave, as tho
[10:10:44] <Darke> you'd already explained your reasons behind this all. (Sometimes the whole entire conversation takes place, and sometimes he just tells you the last part of it. It's a programming glitch, as Angelo has told me.)
[10:12:34] <Darke> *snicker* And this should be easily fixed should we care to: Another (real nitpicky) nitpick from Dino:
[10:12:35] <Darke> There is a Blackrock fragment for each element. The one related to air is called the "Breath of Wind" by Stratos, the Air Titan, however everyone else refers to it as the "Breath of Air".
[10:19:04] * Darke wonders if there's any left over usecode in u8 that isn't used and is former parts of the plot, like Cantra in SI.

[13:16:08] <-- Darke has left IRC ("*fluff!*")
[13:24:21] --> Darke has joined #pentagram
[13:24:21] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Darke
[14:49:48] * Darke tries to understand how Mr Silencer Dude can suvive thousands of bullets flying at him, dodge death left right and center, yet _still_ can't seem to jump, (or even crawl!) though a completely open window.
[15:06:33] <Colourless> :-)
[15:13:24] * Darke tries to hunt down a hex editor because ghex really, truely sucks. But can't seem to find an alternative, since most of the projects on sf.net are dead with no cvs, no files released, and no webpage. *grin*
[15:13:50] * Colourless uses msvc for his hex editing requirements
[15:15:40] <Darke> The 'best' one I've seen so far was using kde (good!), looked pretty, but... hadn't been touched in about 3 years and no doubt would have been a pain to get working with KDE3 (since it was apparently converted from KDE1, to KDE2 just after it was release, and not touched since then). *sigh*
[15:16:19] <Colourless> is KDE backwards compatible?
[15:17:45] <Darke> Apparently 'yes' with a little fiddling. From my experience, unless you know kde/qt well (I don't), you'll get lost very quickly with function/class changes.
[15:18:31] <Colourless> tsk tsk. Backwards Compatibility really is very important
[15:20:11] <Darke> Doesn't stop MS, so why should it stop anyone else? *grin*
[15:22:31] <Darke> Nor Sun either, they've been even quicker to depreciate language features in Java then KDE/QT have. *grin*
[15:41:43] * Darke sighs and wishes they'd passed a 'number of bytes of arguments' to the call opcode. Would have made things much easier.
[17:20:18] <-- Kirben has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[17:32:06] * Darke looks at ye sourcecode and dispairs^Wsuddenly longs for runtime dynamic binding.
[17:32:34] <Colourless> :-)
[17:34:22] <Darke> I've got one class (called hypothetically CallNode, because that's it's name) that needs to call a function of another class (called, again, hypothetically ClassPostfixNode), _but_, said class also needs to call a function of CallNode! So simply putting 'class Foo;' in front of the appropiate odd-class-out ain't gonna work. *grin*
[17:35:34] <Colourless> sounds like you have to rethink a few things then :-)
[17:44:36] <Darke> Bah! I'll just add another level of abstraction! *grin*
[17:44:40] <Darke> void AddSpToCallNode(CallPostfixNode *cpn, Node *node)
[17:44:57] <Darke> /* 'cause we don't have dynamic binding. c++ sucks. */
[17:52:11] --- Darke is now known as Darke|zzZ
