[22:57:30] <watt> blah... so I'm fairly sick of that pentagram title image on the webpage... needs to be changed.. and I really should play with the divs and css a bit more to make it a touch less bland
[23:01:33] <wjp> you mean pent.png?
[23:02:14] --> Kirben has joined #pentagram
[23:02:14] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Kirben
[23:04:44] <watt> yup... the crappy title pic I threw together in 5 minutes
[23:05:47] <watt> I really wanted to use the pentagram image that I think was meant for the title screen (I think it's on Colourless' page)
[23:06:08] <watt> but it clashed with the sidebar even after altering it
[23:13:29] --> gruck has joined #pentagram
[23:13:37] <gruck> Hello there
[23:13:58] <watt> hiya.
[23:14:35] <gruck> I just wanted to say I've been fiddling around with Pentagram and I'm very impressed. It seems nearly everything is working except combat and movement is a little sketchy and the GUI isn't quite working yet.
[23:15:18] <watt> The GUI? The menu system?
[23:16:26] <wjp> just some 'minor' things like a savegame system and such :-)
[23:17:58] <watt> hmmm.. maybe the navbar on the page should be a little less squared off... sticks out like like a sore thumb at the ends
[23:18:29] <wjp> funny how I only notice those things when you mention them :-)
[23:18:41] <wjp> and then they start to annoy me as well :-)
[23:28:50] <gruck> yeah... by GUI I mean menu system
[23:29:52] <-- gruck has left IRC ()
[23:30:28] <watt> yeah, for now, people are better off using the console. I think it's going to be a bit difficult to continue using the old book for the menu system
[23:30:36] <watt> oh, he left.
[23:43:44] <wjp> hm, you don't want to use the book?
[23:45:29] <watt> Don't think it'll hold the options very well...maybe use the basic book to get to other menus while in U8, but I'm also not wanting to keep 3 separate menus up to date once crusader support is added (whenever that occurs)
[23:46:56] <wjp> we should be able to use the book in U8 and an alternate interface in crusader without much overhead, though
[23:47:30] <wjp> different background image, different font, maybe different layout, but the core should be pretty much the same
[23:48:23] <watt> maybe.
[23:50:09] <watt> It'd be nice to get better fonts for it at least.
[23:50:36] <wjp> it's currently possible to use ttf for it
[23:51:54] <watt> it does in some places, but with the size of the book vs. the size of the current ttf's it doesn't leave much room to add many options.
[23:52:19] <wjp> that's just a limitation of having only 320x200 to work with
[23:52:34] <wjp> a smaller pointsize is an option, of course
[23:53:01] <watt> mostly the part that bugs me is that we have to design the menus to have a right and left side due to the center of the page.... i dunno..
[23:53:27] <wjp> I'm basically hoping we won't have that many options
[23:53:31] <watt> controls page was my biggest issue
[23:55:10] <watt> perhaps I'm worrying too much
[23:56:15] <wjp> I wonder if I should just implement U8's original savegame interface for now
[23:56:31] <wjp> (before starting on a custom pentagram one)
[23:56:45] <wjp> maybe extended to more than 4 pages of entries
[23:56:52] <watt> you mean compatible save games?
[23:57:06] <wjp> no, that's totally impossible; I just meant the interface
[23:57:21] <watt> oh.. right
[23:57:31] <wjp> U8 actually stored vtables and stuff in the savegame :-)
[23:57:33] <watt> scared me for a moment
[23:59:07] <wjp> need to think about (file) naming schemes as well
[23:59:49] <wjp> and need to store game version info in the savegame...
