[08:32:38] --- Colourless is now known as Cless|hesNotHere
[10:46:27] --> sbx has joined #pentagram
[11:02:15] <sbx> hello!
[11:02:50] <wjp> hi
[11:09:49] <sbx> i notice the orrery viewer works now in exult
[11:09:51] <sbx> or seem sto
[11:09:53] <sbx> seems to*
[11:10:25] <sbx> I dont know if it moves correctly since I only looked at it once
[11:11:07] <wjp> yeah, I saw a large commit about it
[11:11:32] <wjp> Marzo Torres apparently figured out how it was supposed to work
[11:12:42] <sbx> oh i didnt know that it wasnt known
[11:13:03] <sbx> it uses flags to move it?
[11:13:05] <wjp> me neither :-)
[11:13:20] <wjp> docs/Planets.txt contains the description
[11:22:28] <sbx> ok
[13:06:30] <wjp> hmmm... a bit of an annoying problem with our current Makefile
[13:06:57] <wjp> if config.h changes because configure was rebuilt and re-run, files depending on config.h aren't rebuild
[13:07:53] <wjp> so you currently need to run make twice if changing configure.ac, sometimes
[13:19:16] <wjp> I wonder if GNU make has any things that trigger a dependency re-scan apart from an included Makefile being changed
[13:19:32] <wjp> of course I could just include config.h.stamp into Makefile
[13:33:55] <wjp> one minor problem is that running make right now after a cvs update will cause an error
[13:34:07] <wjp> removing misc/config.h.stamp fixes that
[13:34:42] <wjp> (this is because the old contents of misc/config.h.stamp weren't suitable for including into Makefile)
[14:22:01] <-- Kirben has left IRC ("System Meltdown")
[14:44:10] --> Fingolfin has joined #pentagram
[14:44:10] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Fingolfin
[14:49:22] <wjp> hi Fingolfin
[14:52:29] <Fingolfin> hi
[14:59:22] <wjp> annoying problem... when spell usecode tries to close all gumps, some gumps are closed twice, causing them to re-open the second time they're closed
[14:59:56] <wjp> interference between closing gumps by calling Gump::Close() and Item::use()
[15:04:11] <Fingolfin> hm
[15:23:54] <wjp> I don't see why this is supposed to work...
[15:24:28] <wjp> maybe it only accidentally worked in the original because the way their process execution order is handled :-)
[15:25:26] <wjp> wouldn't be the first thing... :/
[15:26:07] <wjp> for the logs: this is usecode function FREE::36E7
[15:34:02] <wjp> or maybe it can be fixed by changing the order in which a recursive container search returns items
[15:36:42] <wjp> seems to have done the trick...
[15:41:20] <wjp> 22 bugs left in the tracker :-)
[15:53:04] <oaQ^> is the usecode rewritten in pentagram?
[15:53:19] <wjp> no
[15:53:30] <wjp> we just run the original usecode
[15:54:11] <oaQ^> ok
[15:54:23] <oaQ^> so if there are bugs in original usecode, something won't work?
[15:54:43] <wjp> there are definitely bugs in the original usecode :-)
[15:55:50] <wjp> if we did things properly, pentagram will exactly duplicate those bugs
[15:56:04] <wjp> in some cases we might add workarounds for them
[15:57:52] <wjp> (in fact, we have added workarounds for a couple; see docs/u8bugs.txt in pentagram's cvs)
[16:43:43] <-- Fingolfin has left IRC ("42")

[20:42:11] --> watt has joined #pentagram
[20:42:54] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to watt
[20:43:43] <watt> arg. I really wish someone would care to explain why every time I upgrade kde, I need to redo all my config.
[20:44:22] <watt> Got sick of it and started copying directories in .kde3.2 to .kde
[20:44:39] <watt> I guess its good that it looks in .kde though
[20:55:08] <wjp> is that a gentoo thing or a kde thing?
[20:58:13] <watt> it might be a gentoo thing
[21:02:05] <watt> ugh... I think I might need to restart x a few times while fixing this config
[21:02:08] <-- watt has left #pentagram ()
[21:18:38] --> watt has joined #pentagram
[21:18:53] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to watt
[21:19:09] <watt> better.. except my fonts are ugly.
