[16:25:20] <watt> hmmm... gamepad support is a little lacking over here in Mac Land - my shiny new logitech, PS2-ish controller works, but there's no free software to so this
[16:26:03] <servus> SDL can't interface with it?
[16:26:35] <watt> Was hoping for a simple window that could show the buttons being used and whatnot so I see what all I can do
[16:27:05] <watt> SDL can and does... I can get the simple stuff I programmed in Pentagram to work
[16:28:08] <watt> I'm hoping it will inspire me to flush out more code to support gamepads in Pent
[16:31:34] <servus> There is a joystick SDL demo that does just that.
[16:32:29] <watt> really.. ok
[16:34:21] <watt> Is it listed in the demos section on libsdl.org?
[16:36:06] <servus> I meant in comes with libsdl itself... if you build the library yourself.
[16:36:14] <watt> ah
[16:40:54] <servus> Hmm doesn't seem to test input actually... but it detects my Saitek Cyborg Rumbleforce on my Mac.
[16:45:55] <servus> Actually if you run it as "./testjoystick 0" it will do what I described.
[16:46:52] <servus> It seems to detect all 10 of my buttons, plus all 6 axes.
[16:46:57] <servus> Shiny!
[17:20:22] <watt> I mucked around with this until I got it to compile - http://sdljoytest.sourceforge.net/
[17:20:58] <watt> it did at least confirm that pressing the axis sticks also has a button press
[17:22:30] <servus> There's an SF.Net project for that? but the testjoystick.c file does everything! *Shrug*
[17:22:31] <watt> and that the mode button appears to switch the d-pad and the left analog stick
[17:22:58] <servus> Makes sense, because for me "Mode" is actually "Analog/digital"
[17:23:51] <watt> yeah... but whatever - I was looking for the path of least resistance - figured mucking with that would take less time than building SDL the unix way
[17:24:03] <servus> I didn't
[17:24:19] <servus> I did gcc testjoystick.c -o testjoystick -framework SDL -framework Cocoa SDLMain.m
[17:33:21] <watt> ah.... well... that would probably do well :-)
[17:57:06] <watt> was a bit more that that for me, but it did work pretty well
[17:57:25] <watt> although, was it a little slow for you?
[17:57:43] <servus> Only when the video window had focus. Go back to the console you ran it from
[18:02:45] <watt> woah... pentagram went a little nuts on startup... wonder if it was from holding inputs down.
[18:03:32] <watt> anyway... the cursor acceleration code works pretty good.... I was worried than an actual analog stick wouldn't work so well.
[18:04:12] <servus> I'll have to try it :) - For now, I really *should* try to get some rest; I've already used up my pearl of wisdom for the day here.
[18:04:13] <watt> although, it does seem I have to move the stick in every direction before it calibrates itself properly
