[20:27:00] <Dominus> hi
[20:40:23] --> Corvus has joined #pentagram
[20:55:58] --> Xavier_WER has joined #pentagram
[20:56:37] <Xavier_WER> any of the pentagram devs around?
[20:58:01] <wjp> hi
[20:58:01] <wjp> yes
[21:02:33] <Xavier_WER> do you guys have any 2d map viewer for u8?
[21:02:45] <Xavier_WER> oh and.. Hi =)
[21:03:53] <Dominus> we have that mini map :)
[21:04:31] <Xavier_WER> Id like to get hold of a well.. big version of it. Im going to try to make a UO custom map like pagan
[21:05:25] <servus> I think that'd be very difficult, seeing as how every little part of Pagan's map is in a tiny discrete chunk.
[21:06:07] <Xavier_WER> what do you mean?
[21:08:35] <Dominus> Pagan's map is unlike U7's split up in many independant parts
[21:09:20] <Xavier_WER> ah yeah I know
[21:09:33] <Xavier_WER> I'll just fill it out with imagination =)
[21:09:52] <Xavier_WER> but those parts that do "exist" needs to be as close to the original as possible
[21:10:48] <Dominus> what do you mean with "do exist
[21:10:57] <Dominus> " and as close as possible
[21:10:59] <Dominus> ?
[21:11:00] <servus> Well they have tools out there to convert images directly into UO maps, I think. There are huge scanned maps here: http://www.dengler.net/xedragon/hrump/
[21:11:40] <Xavier_WER> hrump arent the real ingame maps
[21:12:24] <Xavier_WER> Dominus, I mean I want to recreate the U8 map parts in a UO custom map program, piece them together to form a full map and fill in the blanks
[21:13:03] <Dominus> ok, got it
[21:13:48] <Xavier_WER> I found a linux program that can extract maps from U8, avaliable on the uo.com archive
[21:13:53] <Xavier_WER> but it only works on linux
[21:14:51] <wjp> what did you originally mean by '2d maps'?
[21:15:29] <wjp> pentagram can create full-size images from all maps, but they're in U8's isometric 3d
[21:15:30] <Xavier_WER> well ingame in in "3d", actually isometric 2d. But is seems you can extract 2d versions of the map that would the flat
[21:18:14] <Xavier_WER> a 2d version would basicly contains blocks or pixels where different colors represented different types of land tiles
[21:22:32] <Xavier_WER> wjp, how would I go about go to get full sized images of the maps? in iso 2d
[21:27:31] <wjp> you'd have to implement creating such a map yourself, probably
[21:28:20] <Xavier_WER> <wjp> pentagram can create full-size images from all maps, but they're in U8's isometric 3d
[21:28:24] <Xavier_WER> I mean that :P
[21:31:09] <wjp> oh, open the console with ~, and type GameMapGump::dumpMap
[21:31:37] <wjp> (it has tab completion, so Ga<tab>::d<tab> will suffice)
[21:32:00] <wjp> it'll dump the map you're currently in
[21:32:13] <wjp> you can use MainActor::teleport <mapnum> <targetnum> to teleport to other maps
[21:32:45] <wjp> or probably 'MainActor::teleport <mapnum> 8000 8000 128' since you're not interested in where you land in the map
[21:34:39] <Xavier_WER> dump it where?
[21:34:54] <Xavier_WER> oh it said where nvm :P
