[16:41:40] <wjp> any windows people around? I was wondering what you'd typically use (free, spy-/adware-less, ...) to convert cd audio to mp3 in windows
[16:43:25] <sbx|afk> hi
[16:43:37] <sbx|afk> sorry I don't have any encoders installed right now
[16:43:45] <sbx|afk> so I don't remember
[16:44:11] --- sbx|afk is now known as sbx
[16:44:37] <wjp> hi
[16:45:37] <wjp> hm, the 'software that uses lame' list on the lame page seems to have some options
[16:50:12] <sbx> What? That's interesting... Opera's Google ads is displaying mp3 songs sites.
[16:50:24] <sbx> I wasn't looking at anything related to that in Opera.
[16:50:27] <wjp> :-)
[16:50:37] <wjp> maybe it's monitoring your irc chats ;-)
[16:51:24] <wjp> http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ looks interesting
[16:51:35] <sbx> ah well, usually its related... or maybe I had some page open in the background I didn't know about
[16:51:37] <sbx> ok
[20:25:02] <-- Fingolfin has left IRC ("This machine just fell asleep")
[20:33:11] --> Fingolfin has joined #pentagram

[21:47:13] --> WattAtWork has joined #pentagram
[21:50:32] <WattAtWork> wjp: I used to use Music Match Jukebox.. it wasn't that great... I'd look for something winamp nowadays if I were going to rip from windows.
[21:51:19] <wjp> cdex did the job, luckily
[21:53:53] <wjp> now that you mention it, I actually used musicmatch myself ages ago
[21:56:03] <WattAtWork> It seemed to mess the songs up if you did anything with your machine while ripping..I would have to rebuild my mp3's too many times.
[21:58:03] <WattAtWork> Speaking of.. what would be the recommended programs to use in linux nowadays... I might actually make a few mp3's sometime
[22:05:32] <wjp> hm, cdparanoia and lame, probably
[22:06:02] <wjp> although there are probably some tools around that do both cd ripping and encoding
[22:11:52] <WattAtWork> Never really got into encoding once I had switched to linux.... mostly because I had lost my old collection of mp3's by accident before switching and I thought "Why bother? The CD player is right there".
[22:14:13] <WattAtWork> Plus I usually want to listen to an entire album at a time rather than select songs
[22:55:33] <wjp> time to go; night
