[00:16:06] --> oaQ^ has joined #pentagram
[00:28:06] --> ooooo has joined #pentagram
[00:28:52] <-- ooooo has left IRC (Client Quit)
[00:45:46] <Colourless> google earth, the newest way to waste lots of time
[01:17:47] --> sbx|afk has joined #pentagram
[06:28:42] <-- Colourless has left IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[06:46:09] --> Colourless has joined #Pentagram
[06:46:09] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Colourless
[08:33:54] <wjp> google earth? heh, parents' computers are a much easier way to waste far more time ;-)
[08:34:45] <wjp> my father upgraded his motherboard & CPU, and now his HD refuses to boot (Win98); fun fun fun :-)
[10:39:18] <-- Kirben has left IRC ("System Meltdown")
[11:20:28] --> Kirben has joined #pentagram
[11:20:28] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Kirben
[11:22:02] --- sbx|afk is now known as SB-X
[11:55:15] <wjp> hm, cvs dead?
[11:58:00] <SB-X> anonymous cvs is just slow to respond
[11:58:18] <SB-X> but it was able to update pentagram
[12:33:37] <wjp> it's just a pity I'm not able to commit my extremely critical "remove unused variable" patch ;-)
[12:34:21] * Colourless almost had runtime shape decompression working
[12:35:06] <Colourless> s/had/has/
[12:35:07] <wjp> curious use of the past tense; what happened? :-)
[12:35:09] <wjp> ah :-)
[12:35:23] <wjp> cool
[12:37:21] <Colourless> got it working at the moment using the ConvertShape frame work (with a few 'changes') so ShapeConv can decompress shapes
[12:37:35] <Colourless> now i just need to integrate it into pentagrams Shape and ShapeFrame classes
[12:37:37] <wjp> nice
[12:38:19] <wjp> so we won't have to write a full replacement for the decmpshapes tool
[12:51:39] <-- Kirben has left IRC ("System Meltdown")
[13:02:45] <wjp> ah, cvs is back, but very slow now
[13:08:26] <Colourless> yay decompressing shapes at runtime works.
[13:08:47] <Colourless> but since cvs is running slow i'll probably commit it tomorrow
[13:10:13] <Colourless> well time for me to go off to bed
[13:10:53] <-- Colourless has left IRC ("casts improved invisibility")
[13:13:44] <-- SB-X has left IRC ("brb")
[13:54:06] --> SB-X has joined #pentagram
[15:26:41] <wjp> hm, I managed to commit something, but sending the commit mail failed
[15:26:56] <wjp> now I'm getting errors again
[16:24:23] --> megawatt has joined #pentagram
[16:24:40] <megawatt> the about page seems to e down
[16:24:45] <megawatt> s/e/be/
[16:30:54] <SB-X> works for me
[16:31:08] <SB-X> but all the pages load slowly
[16:32:36] <wjp> ah, cvs is up again
[17:01:54] <wjp> ...and down again :-)
[17:30:49] <megawatt> hmmm.. I just 503'ed on /. too... seems like a issue on my network
[17:46:20] <wjp> slashdot works here
[19:57:46] <wjp> gah; a proper configure check for SDL_ttf is impossible to write
[20:00:25] * wjp starts from scratch
[20:58:39] <megawatt> that bad?
[20:59:46] <wjp> it's a mess
[20:59:56] <wjp> first, there's no sdl-ttf-config or something like that
[21:00:14] <wjp> so it can be either with the other SDL headers or in a separate location
[21:00:33] <wjp> so, try to include it exactly like SDL.h and see if that works, if not, try SDL/SDL_ttf.h, just in case
[21:00:39] <wjp> then, there's linking...
[21:01:19] <wjp> it needs the SDL libraries to have a chance of succeeding, but those need additional includes in the C file containing main, or it might not find SDL_main
[21:01:36] <wjp> so you can't use _any_ of the standard autoconf macros for checking headers or libraries
[21:01:49] <wjp> so I'm now directly using AC_COMPILE_IFELSE and AC_LINK_IFELSE
[21:02:17] <wjp> the end result is that acinclude.m4 has again become a bit larger :-)
[21:07:53] <wjp> but it looks like I now have a test that works on all three setups I have access to
[21:08:24] <wjp> ('normal' linux setup with SDL_ttf installed globally, linux setup with SDL_ttf only available as a static lib in my homedir, cross compiling linux->win32)
[21:13:19] <SB-X> SDL_ttf is installed under /usr
[21:13:44] <wjp> sometimes, yes :-)
[21:13:52] <SB-X> well, in my case anyway
[21:14:11] <wjp> in only one of the three setups I just mentioned, though :-)
[21:15:09] <SB-X> why is SDL_ttf a static lib in your homedir?
[21:15:56] <wjp> I'll admit that's a bit unusual :-)
[21:16:05] <SB-X> just curious
[21:16:05] <wjp> that's on my uni account
[21:16:16] <wjp> so no root, and no SDL_ttf installed system-wide
[21:16:29] <SB-X> any SDL?
[21:16:41] <SB-X> guessing no
[21:16:43] <wjp> SDL is installed in /usr
[21:16:46] <SB-X> oh cool
[21:16:52] <wjp> it's FC2, which has no SDL_ttf package
[21:17:06] <SB-X> ah ok
[21:17:18] <wjp> well, in a way it complicates things because it means SDL_ttf.h is not in the same place as SDL.h
[21:35:22] <wjp> ok, fairly major build system update committed
[21:55:50] <wjp> and llc builds again now too, although it's still disabled by default
[21:56:58] <wjp> and miraculously it no longer needs GUIApp
