[11:54:46] * DarkeZzz pets the poodle.
[11:54:47] --- DarkeZzz is now known as Darke
[11:54:50] --- ChanServ gives channel operator status to Darke
[11:55:12] <poodle> hehe! oops that was just a random name! somthing real random before
[11:55:25] --- poodle is now known as Cashman
[11:55:44] <Darke> Riiiiiiight! *grin*
[11:56:27] <Cashman> hehe yeah because I was on another server where lots of my names were taken so I heard "poodle" being used in a comedy program so yeah that was random
[11:56:52] <Cashman> eftnet i think?
[11:59:23] <Cashman> hows pentagram comming along
[12:16:51] <Darke> Not too badly from what I can tell. Haven't been doing anything on it recently unfortunately.
[12:18:22] <Darke> Although, technicaly I *am* doing something about it at the moment. I've found an old PCI soundblaster card floating around, and I'm playing 'hunt the chipset' to find how old it is, to see if it's worth trying to use to play pagan/regret/remorse with, so I can actually *hear* what they sound like! *grin*
[12:21:59] <Darke> Hmm... it's a CT4750 PCI-128 Soundblaster soundcard... wonder what the dos drivers are like for it, and for that matter if I can find somewhere to download them! *grin*
[12:23:28] <Cashman> interesting!! yeah well I'm running a sbpci128 bit card.. umm yeah and I managed to find some dos drivers for it - thought it would only run in windows origionally
[12:24:24] <Cashman> good old days of dos - unfortunate that pci winmodems wont work with dos, I dont use linux but does linux support winmodems?? - any linux uses
[12:24:28] <Cashman> users
[12:26:36] <Darke> Yes, you can get winmodems to work quite nicely under linux at the moment apparently. Not that I'd use anything as primitive as a POTS modem mind you. *grin*
[12:27:47] <Cashman> true! nice.. never use to be possible! I see emulation is comming across quick nicely for those that use linux and there is a directx? ver for linux - or are people like emulating directx9 somehow
[12:28:07] <Cashman> winex?
[12:30:23] <Darke> The winmodem drivers aren't emulated, they're written from scratch. There's varying levels of directx conformance by wine/winex unfortunately, some games work fine, but others don't at all.
[12:30:53] <Cashman> anyways! I'll have to compile sometime and have a look - gather those datafiles thgether, are you guys still kinda implementing crusader as well
[12:31:31] <Darke> More-or-less by accident. *grin* Most of the files are similar, we're just supporting what we can as we go along, just in case someone decides to get them working someday. *grin*
[12:32:28] <Cashman> just what I was thinking actually, yeah... oh well I hope to see some more accidental crusader support, maybe there will be full support in the end seeing as though they are based on very similar principles
[12:37:32] <Darke> Hmm... creative only has 95/98 drivers for it. Will have to hope they have dos components to their drivers, might as well stick with my current card that's supposed to emulate a SB16 in dos, but I've been having trouble with it working, otherwise. *grin*
[12:38:52] <Cashman> yeah lots of them do aye! mind does. whats ur currently card? should have legacy
[12:40:48] <Darke> Can't remember the chipset. It's just a generic PCI sound card, that does pretty much anything most people want in a card. *grin* Will have to rip it out of the machine to check tommorrow.
[12:42:22] <Cashman> good luck! I love music and use to download rips of mid's mod's anything from old dos games to listen to aye! I found drivers so that I could play u8 and crusader again etc... but now I'm not that much into the old days anymore, growing up now.. hhe
[12:44:15] * Darke snickers. Thanks!
[12:44:46] <Darke> I think we've actually got some code to decode the crusader music format too, conveniently enough. *grin*
[12:45:41] <Cashman> yeah thats right! jason ely himself gave his .amf code to the modplug.com team ages ago! they support it -thats how I got excited after thinking I would never be able to hear cru music in windows
