[18:50:00] --> Zxcvb has joined #uwadv
[18:50:06] <Zxcvb> is anyone here?
[18:50:23] * wjp nods
[18:50:43] <Zxcvb> had an interesting discussion on the pocket pc ultima underworld port
[18:51:42] <Zxcvb> the current best guess is they used static recompilation (like the bintrans x86 to powerpc binary converter) to convert most of the code to ARM, then emulated the rest
[18:58:31] <wjp> hm, I think I read something to that effect somewhere before
[18:58:46] <wjp> can't remember where though
[18:59:14] <Zxcvb> http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/schani/bintrans/
[18:59:22] <Zxcvb> it is a converter, not an emulator
[19:00:01] <Zxcvb> it's similar to FX!32 in windows
[19:00:18] <Zxcvb> a JIT will discard it's cache after the app is closed
[19:00:35] <Zxcvb> this translates and stores the translated code permanently in the binary
[19:08:03] <wjp> kind of an interesting way to port a game :-)
[19:08:09] <wjp> bbl
[19:09:12] <Zxcvb> kind of like the u7win9x wrapper?
