[22:43:57] <Cahaan> at the beginning Ultima Underworld was not supposed to happen in the Ultima world

[22:49:34] <sol> I really like the first person 3d RPG of UW and I don't think any games have pulled it off since

[22:50:35] <Cahaan> UW is still my favourite game of all time
[22:50:44] <Cahaan> so deep, so complex, so intriguing
[22:50:55] <Cahaan> I was really disappointed by Arx Fatalis
[22:51:27] <Cahaan> Dark Messiah (same author) was better, but a totally different gameplay (more action-based)

[22:52:30] <sol> i didnt like Dark Messiah so much, I didn't play all of it either

[22:52:43] <sol> you could really only kind of run along with the game
[22:52:46] <Cahaan> yeah, it was more a "doom-like"
[22:52:54] <sol> rather than explore and find things
[22:52:57] <Cahaan> yes it was very cinematic
[22:53:00] <Cahaan> and scripted
[22:53:06] <sol> it was always neat in UW, where you'd find little secret areas
[22:53:12] <Cahaan> but the gameplay based on physics was pretty interesting
[22:53:16] <sol> where you'd picture some warrior had died some time before and dropped his things
[22:53:19] <Cahaan> yeah UW was so "real"
[22:53:31] <Cahaan> yes it had that great feel
[22:53:34] <sol> yeah :D
[22:53:41] <sol> and the originality was neat
[22:53:48] <sol> like the ogres

[22:53:58] <sol> Sethar Strongarm bragging about having killed Dragons when he was young

[22:54:06] <sol> unless we got the source released
[22:54:08] <sol> and had a big movement
[22:54:26] <Cahaan> or that mad lich-king in UW2, he thought that he was still alive
[22:55:09] <Cahaan> UW1 was better though, even if UW2 story was more interesting
[22:55:34] <Cahaan> UW1 is more about exploration and survival

[22:55:57] <sol> I was a bit disappointed with UW2
[22:55:59] <Cahaan> I didn't really like the different worlds in UW2, they were a bit too small
[22:56:02] <sol> especially because I couldn't kill everyone

[22:56:25] <sol> even if it would screw up the game
[22:56:29] <sol> I like knowing I can do *whatever I want*

[22:56:50] <Cahaan> The Elder Scroll series is not bad at doing this
[22:57:17] <Cahaan> when you do something bad for the main plot, you have that warning that pops up
[22:57:34] <Cahaan> but you can still do whatever you like
