[02:16:33] <Darrenor64> EA certainly is a complicated creature.

[19:00:29] <NorwegianRockCat> Hi guys.
[19:01:44] <NorwegianRockCat> Saw the comments about EA, interesting to see what happens. It will make possibility of putting on the app store a bit more difficult.
[19:02:48] <NorwegianRockCat> I guess one question would be how much of ultima4 we actually need. Could it work with just the data files?
[19:04:30] <NorwegianRockCat> Well, on to coding, which thankfully has less to deal with IP issues...
[19:04:33] <NorwegianRockCat> Darrenor64: is there a specific time on Saturday that would work for you? I have some things in the evening, but have most of the morning and afternoon open.
[19:05:36] <NorwegianRockCat> I can sit around there for the day, but it would be good to know when you are there, so I can plan accordingly :-)
[20:27:53] <-- NorwegianRockCat has left IRC (Quit: NorwegianRockCat)
[20:37:34] <Dominus1> Darrenor64: can you give some update on the EA and U4 situation?
[20:38:53] <Dominus1> NorwegianCat, regarding the IP, it doesn't matter whether we only use the data files or the program files. At least in regard to copyright violations when we offer this for download...
[21:03:31] --- Dominus1 is now known as Dominus
[21:14:31] <Darrenor64> hi.
[21:14:54] <Darrenor64> NorwegianCat, perhaps we should start an email dialog instead.
[21:16:08] <Darrenor64> I've been incredibly busy for the past month+, and has been hard to nail down free time for this. Drop your email address and we'll continue.
[21:16:12] <Dominus> sounds like a good plan :)
[21:16:54] <Darrenor64> I've been in the middle of renovations and my office was in shambles.
[21:17:06] <Darrenor64> finally getting things back together, and catchin up on my software projects.
[21:18:16] <Darrenor64> how are things going in the Exult world, Dom?
[21:25:05] <Dominus> nothing happening :)
[21:25:33] <Dominus> development has practically halted :(
[21:26:06] <Darrenor64> What about the android stuff?
[21:28:14] <Dominus> that is still going on
[21:28:19] <Dominus> two ports :)
[21:28:32] <Dominus> one java and one native :)
[21:28:49] <Dominus> but also slowly
[21:28:56] <Darrenor64> which is 'winning' ?
[21:29:29] <Dominus> the native one, kind of, since it's a direct port
[21:29:38] <Dominus> (native is probably the one word then)
[21:29:54] <Dominus> the java one has to "translate" everything first
[21:30:00] <Darrenor64> i hope that the java interface stuff can be used. The native port makes more sense from a soft dev point of view.
[21:30:37] <Darrenor64> is Marzo(?) looking for more pure exult devs?
[21:30:53] <Dominus> the nice thing is that the java port is done by the Exult founder (jeff) and he gets back into exult development this
[21:31:11] <Dominus> Marzo has been very quiet the last few months
[21:31:31] <Darrenor64> who is leading the project, Marzo or Jeff?
[21:31:37] <Dominus> we could use much more exult devs
[21:31:43] <Dominus> Jeff
[21:31:53] <Dominus> but Marzo was the main developer for a long time
[21:32:31] <Dominus> and no one was actually leading for a long time :)
[21:32:45] <Darrenor64> That seems to happen with these ultima ports.
[21:33:09] <Dominus> I'd consider wjp, colourless, marzo and me the leaders
[21:33:31] <Dominus> deciding on #exult what needs to be done or where we want to go
[21:34:07] <Dominus> yes, ultima ports have slowed down
[21:34:25] <Dominus> at least exult was always doing something...
[21:35:00] <Dominus> right now we have a nasty bug that deletes objects from the world and we have no real clue on it and no certain way to reproduce it
[21:35:15] <Darrenor64> Hahahhaha. Sounds like a challenge.
[21:35:25] <Dominus> and no one really willing to spend time on it :(
[21:35:27] <Darrenor64> (although classic Ultima 7 had that problem too (at least with keys))
[21:36:02] <Dominus> yes, the original ran out of memory or whatever when the player had too much items (hoarding gold in particulary)
[21:49:54] <Darrenor64> do you have any interest in taking over the xu4 website completely?
[21:50:23] <Dominus> not really, I'm not really good at it
[21:50:37] <Dominus> I can maintain and write documentation but am bad at creating
[21:51:24] <Dominus> I have no *vision* for stuff like that
[21:51:36] <Darrenor64> you're definitely a big help on the forums etc.
[21:52:00] <Darrenor64> and builds
[21:52:18] <Dominus> that's why I just made it work to be able to sync it against svn again but changing it is not my thing :)
[21:52:32] <Dominus> I'm neglecting the forums a bit, though
[21:52:48] <Dominus> need to make a direct link so I check more often :)
